Like a moth drawn to a flame, my wife and I have frequented many of Tom Colicchio's restaurants. Perhaps it is the celebrity chef mystique, but we have found his fare to be pretty boring. This restaurant is no different. We had a party of...three and ordered grilled LI oysters and grilled octopus with chick peas. The octopus was cooked perfectly and the chick peas accompanied it well. By far, this was a perfect dish and the best dish of the night. The grilled oysters were OK. The chili aioli was a little boring. For mains, the three of us ordered the wagyu steak, spicy chicken sandwich and cod. The spicy chicken sandwich was unusual in that it was flavored with what seems to be cayenne pepper rather than a chill sauce. There was no acid that accompanied the heat. The cayenne pepper bordered or tasting a bit bitter. The other two dishes were pretty tasteless and under seasoned. For dessert, we had the hot chocolate soufflé' cake, which was good and donuts with a chocolate sauce that were kind of dense and flavorless.More

Despite all the Covid challenges New York's restaurants are facing, Small Batch is a breath of fresh air. It is one of the most special restaurants I have ever visited. Besides the country, relaxing. satisfying atmosphere, the farm-to-table food preparation, exquisite flavors, and presentation are...nothing short of superb. For an appetizer, Spanish Octopus with chickpeas, roasted sweet peppers, chorizo and fresno chiles are such a great combination of flavors, they are almost impossible to describe how delicious this is. We also had roasted Atlantic salmon, which was cooked to perfection and was incredibly flavorful, paired with heirloom grains and a horseradish creme fraiche. Wanting the flavor to last, we could not eat the vanilla sundae with brandied cherries, or the Chocolate Souffle slowly enough. During our visit, each and every staff member treated my wife and I like we were family having dinner in their home. They were attentive, caring and always doing everything possible to make our visit a memorable one. We look forward to returning again many times.More

Service was ok. Food was pretty tasteless, except for the octopus app. which was good but not for $29. Asked for bread to eat it with, but bread came a little too late. Seems to try to hold itself out as fine dining but quality...of food not of that tier. Cod was tasteless and topped with bacon crumbs that could have been on a roadside diner's cobb salad. Next time use bacon or pork belly.More

My bf and I wanted to give this a shot for Restaurant Week. I LOVE the atmosphere of this place..a farmhouse chic feel that’s beautiful with an open kitchen. I also like the fact that the food is local and fresh. I got potato leek...soup for an app, rigatoni for the main course, and chocolate soufflé cake for dessert..all of which I liked a lot! My bf got tuna tartare for an app, smoked brisket, and vanilla ice cream sundae for dessert. Overall, the food was good, but felt the portions were a little on the small side (at least for mine). I would definitely still like to come back again though!More

Few places on Long Island offer this level of first class food and service. It's expensive, but well worth it for a special occasion. With no dress code, it also manages to walk the line between casual and upscale/formal.

Great ambiance, pleasant servers, high-quality delicious food with gorgeous presentation. Open airy rooms with comfortable decor. Highlights in our group: starters: mac & cheese, octopus. Mains: wagyu burger with truffle carmelized onions, salmon, deconstructed eggplant parmesan.

We visited two more times. I’ll start with brunch: we had the waygu beef skillet and BELT. The skillet was really good for me! I ended up ordering an extra fried egg to mix in which came out in what seemed less than a minute....My boyfriend had the bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato sandwich. He said it was okay, but was so disappointed that Small Batch does not offer eggs Benedict as a brunch option... he doesn’t want to return again for brunch for that reason, but I definitely would return for the skillet! He wasn’t really impressed with the brunch menu, it has quite a bit over over-lap with the dinner menu and doesn’t really have a ‘brunch’ vibe. We arrived earlier than 5 pm one evening and sat on the bar side and ordered from a small menu. It was just what we wanted and needed!! I had the steak and my boyfriend had the spicy chicken sandwich! We really enjoyed both, he just wished the chicken sandwich was bigger because he was so hungry.. what’s new though?! Also, fries would have suited his sandwich better than the potatoes. We also had the tuna tartare which was just okay.. I’m a big fan of tuna tartare, but this one was a little plain and didn’t have ‘zing’.. ya know? Overall, I really like small batch. The vibe is quaint and cozy.More

Lots of hype on showcasing locally sourced vegetables, fish and meats along with some cheeses. Recently ate here for Long Island Restaurant Week and was not overly impressed. A single shot of Jack Daniels was $13.50, seltzer $5. That might be OK for NYC prices...but on Long Island that doesn't fly. Service was good but seemed rushed. There were three of us in our party we had reservations as well but the server was a bit too eager to take our orders, considering we were still perusing our menus. The wagyu burger was cooked to perfection though the reduced onions that came on top of it overshadowed the burger so I took them off. The fried goat cheese appetizer was phenomenal and worth ordering. One diner ordered off the restaurant week menu and had the brisket, found out a day later she beame violently ill. So beware. The rosemary potatoes were nothing special and were just warm not hot. The place tends to get noisy because of the hard wood floors and ample windows. The open kitchen was a neat attraction. The bar area in the front of the house has ample seating as well as another dining option. I suppose eating at a clebrity chef is a thing for some people. I just want good food for the buck and not suckered in. Prices are high so be prepared. The restaurant is located within the confines of Roosevelt Field Shopping Center, it use to be the old Houston's, valet parking is offered but not mandatory. I don't think I would return for a second visit.More

Went to Small Batch for an afternoon business meeting / lunch. Restaurant is so nicely decorated and welcoming - very relaxed, great ambiance. Service staff is extremely professional and friendly. Food was outstanding. Portions are small but filling. I LOVED the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Tried...the Fries - delicious! Plenty of choices to try. Highly recommend! Planning to come for dinner with hubby.More
