Alberto’s is our go to restaurant for homemade Italian food in Queens. We have tried many of the local Italian restaurants including those that strangely have cult followings on social media and none come close to Alberto’s. On recent visits we have enjoyed: Lasagna -...I consider myself a “lasagna snob” and this ranks among my top 5 on Long Island/NYC Seafood special - New Zealand Bass, muscles, shrimp, clams… all extremely fresh and flavorful. Pork Osso Buco - Tender fall off the bones, flavorful, and not overly salty Pasta pockets - I forget the exact name of this dish but it’s pockets of pasta filled with various cheeses. Amazingly delicious. There are always many specials to choose from in addition to the menu items. Various desserts - our favorite was the Napolitano Flan we had recently but they all good The dining room is beautiful and the service is top notch. The service in particular brings me back to when I was young and would dine in nicer restaurants with my parents. Very attentive and classy without being overbearing. The owner Silvana is constantly circulating the dining room greeting all guests both new and repeats. This extra step makes us feel at home being treated the same as those who apparently dine there much more often. Street parking is easy to find in the neighborhood within a block or two of the restaurant. We highly recommend Alberto’s if you are looking for homemade Italian at reasonable prices with old school charm.More

Alberto's has been established for many years. On a recent visit with friends in Queens, N.Y., we went out for dinner and could not stop raving about the restaurant for the rest of our trip! The hospitality, which is always of importance to me, was...so wonderful that we were some of the first patrons there and some of the last to leave. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming and, being from the earthquake country of California, it was delightful to be in a room with warm brick walls. The Northern Italian food was absolutely scrumptious and we even had dessert, which I normally forego. It was melt in your mouth fresh and good, and we insisted on sharing so we could taste as many as possible. We all agreed that the Northern Italian cuisine is lighter than the food in the South, and would definitely recommend it.More

Fantastic Food in a traditional setting - you'll think you're on the set of a Scorcesse movie. Service is great and the cuisine is both classic and creative.

Sure it was over 20 years ago, but the food was great then and still great today. My husband's favorite place to go for his birthday dinner even though we live in Suffolk County!

The owner was warm and welcoming and the decor lovely. Our waiter was helpful and attentive without being annoying. The prices are not inexpensive but not outrageous and each dish was delicious beginning with the generous bread baskets. A special place that we will return...to. Note that it is not too far from the LIRR and subway and street parking is available.More

Come expecting good Italian and having wonderful Italian food. Old style service—-like they actually are of service. The food is not the usual and every time I try a new dish. They have a full bar and the bartender is great!! Can’t say enough about...Alberto’s.More

6 of us for special birthday dinner. Exceptional food & service. Staff fussed over the birthday girl which was lovely. The filet mignon, veal, pasta, salads all fantastic. Great desserts too. So glad we chose Alberto for this event.

Went to this restaurant with high expectations and was greatly disappointed. We should've left when the owner told us we couldn't bring a drink from the bar to the table. We were finally seated and we could hardly understand the waiter We ordered one order...of mussels too share and the waiter brought two and was annoyed when we told him. We ordered the seafood risotto. Heard it was one of the best dishes it was very fishy and almost inedible. When the waiter took the plates away he told me I ate too much bread. My friends and I were all extremely disappointed and will never come back. The dessert was the only thing decent and besides it was very expensive for what it was. I hardly ever write reviews but I feel people should know before they go to the restaurant unfortunately I did not read any reviews before I came here. So beware before you go.More

When a restaurant survives for 41 years, it has to be doing something right. Alberto's is not simply surviving, it's thriving. Under the continued watchful eyes of Silvana and Roberto, the siblings who started the restaurant, and a team of first-class servers, some of whom...have been with the restaurant for decades, Alberto sets the standard for fine Northern Italian dining. It's classic regional pasta offering, tortelli, a melt-in-your-mouth pasta that you won't find anyplace else, is worth travelling hours to experience again and again. If you had a Northern Italian grandmother, it will bring back some wonderful memories. You will also find entrees like rack of lamb in a savory crust that fewer restaurants are offering, and unlike those that do, the portion is generous and cooked perfectly. The tuna with tomatoes and onions, another classic dish, seared, was enough for two and beautifully presented. Finish the meal with strawberries and zabaglione and a complimentary glass of moscato, and you'll want to return, after a visit to the gym, of course! It's well worth a trip from Manhattan or the east end of Long Island to visit Alberto's, again and again.More

I don't eat Italian often but my lady friend does and she was taking me our for my birthday. I have always liked fish specials that they have. Tgis day it was a snapper in white wine artichokes capers and peas with sauteed vegetables. She...had a seafood stew. She especially loves the dessert, Zabayone, strawberries, beaten eggs, liquer heated and whisked.More

Last night my wife, a very good friend, and I went to Alberto Restaurant for dinner. It is basically a neighborhood restaurant but that is where any relationship to a "neighborhood restaurant" ends. We walked in and the place was packed. It then dawned on...me, it was Sunday, it was also Father's Day and people have their Sunday evening dinner a little earlier then during the week. Silvana, the owner, sat us promptly. I miss say first, she is one of the most gracious and understanding owner/hostess that I have encountered in quite awhile. After being seated the waiter asked if we would like a drink and nobody in our crowd drinks so it was "water all around." Having been here before we all know what we wanted. We started with a cold seafood salad platter. It had shrimp, mussels, calamari, chilled string beans and clams. It was sumptuous. Needless to say when the waited came to take the platter, there was nothing left. We then ordered a roasted vegetable platter. It had stuff on the plate that I do not eat, why I do not know. But I loved the broccoli and the carrots and my wife and our friend munched on the squash, zucchini, and all the other little veggies that were there. There was so much of it that it came home in two doggie bags. Now, to the main course. It consisted of a wonderful chicken dish, a three meat combination of chicken, filet mignon, and veal, which both my wife and I have had before. I felt like something different last night and I have had an urge for Lasagna, so why not have it at one of the finest Northern Italian restaurants I know. I could not finish it, superb, as were all of the entrees. More doggie bags. One of the nice things about a fine restaurant, the wait staff is there, but you do not see them. I needed more water, my glass was filled and I never knew it. Empty plates are cleared as you eat, quietly and efficiently. It is such a pleasure to have a meal that is wonderful and have the service to go with it, hand in hand. So, to this point, the appetizers, and the entrees, two courses, two doggie bags. Now for dessert. My wife had Tiramisu, our friend had Italian cheesecake, and I had a Napoleon. I think the next time we come here I may have the Napoleon for my appetizer and also my dessert. Needless to say, no doggie bags here and if I could have licked the plate with not embarrassing everyone, I would have. Over all, on a 1-10 scale we hit 11. I want to thank Silvana and the waiters the accompanied us singing "Happy Birthday" to my wife. It was a wonderful touch to finish off an incredible meal. So, if you are in Forest Hills, NY and are around Metropolitan Avenue and you feel like a "little Italian" stop at Alberto Restaurant. It will be a meal that will be remembered for a long time. Once again, Silvana, thank you for a very special meal for a very special lady, my bride, Judi.More

It was suggested that while in Queens, NY for Italian food, Alberto's was worth the visit! Not so.... I made the reservation for 8:00 pm and was seated at 8:30. Ordered the special "rack of lamb". It took over 30 minutes to get our entrees...and when served was over cooked. Probably got overcooked under a heat lamp. The owner suggested that perhaps the thicker pieces were medium rare so I cut them open and showed how overcooked the meat was. The portion was a good good size. The owner did offer to cook another serving but I declined as it was getting late. My son had the lasagna which looked dry( I didn't taste it and he wouldn't comment when I asked) but only finished half. After getting the bill the owner again came by our table and offered us cookies for desert. We waited 10 minutes but she never returned. I had enough of their service and walked out. Oh yes one more thing...... they did serve bread in the beginning........ I would like to suggest they heat the bread and serve with olive oil and a spiced balsamic vinegar. On a positive note it did have a neighborhood family style feeling but without anything else!!More

As far as I know, Alberto does not do lunch. They only have private functions during the afternoon. They don't open for dinner until 5pm. Also, no pre-fixe menus.
