I've been to this place many times. It has a nice atmosphere and is relatively quiet, even when it is busy. It has a large menu so almost all tastes can be accommodated. Roti canai, Singapore noodles and eggplant with garlic sauce are among my favorites. Prices are reasonable.

A little bit of every SE Asian cuisine: Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese - so no family discord - everyone gets the cuisine he's hankering for. The menu is easy to read because nearly every dish is pictured so you don't have to guess what that unfamiliar name is. Can especially recommend the spicy fried squid - much more flavorful than... Went on a Saturday for a family birthday. There were 10 of us plus 2 children. Service was very friendly and every dish was delicious. We had a range of appetizers including Roti, spring rolls and satay chicken. Each terrific. We then shared many dishes which included curry chicken, mango shrimp, capitan noodles and fried squid. We were exclaiming over... More

There were a few surprises here which I'll share with Yelp: 1. Oddly, there's no Penang curry at Pinang restaurant. 2. This is a Thai restaurant, not Asian fusion. I also learned some new things about penang curry: 1. Its proper spelling is "phanaeng". 2. It's a variant of red curry. 3. It's not Malaysian. It's Thai / Northern Malaysian... More

I had a dinner with my friend and we chose this place because it was not crowded at all- we wanted to talk. Hm this place being almost empty- now I know why ! The staff was not really friendly or helpful-we were not familiar with the food. The food didn't taste fresh at all. My chicken was cold. I... More

Some friends took me here while visiting them and I was impressed by the options. I was surprised by how many dishes this place was able to master. Normally, when a restaurant has a wide variety of foods from all over, and not one particular country/ethnicity, then their food quality drops. That is not the case here, it's very good... More

We have just had a family (of 8) lunch here, including one member who was allergic to peanuts. Under new management, the menu has tripled in size, service was a bit slow, but food was every bit as good as before, regardless of choice. Menu had great variety of Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese and Chinese dishes, which were all delicious. Parking... More

We were taken out to dinner here by our son and his girlfriend. This was their 10th time dining here, so we knew it had to be good. And it was. Opening with crispy duck over salad with the perfect amount of ginger plum dressing and tomyam soup with just enough heat; then to Belechan string bean entree; chock-filled with... More

We had dined at Pinang a few times about eight years ago, after a trip to Malaysia. We enjoyed it, but the hassle of traffic to Forest Hills from Long Island prevented us from keeping up. We recently decided to take friends who like some adventure in dining, and it was a hit. I had actually some reluctance because I'd... More

My wife and I had lunch at this Malaysian place to celebrate her birthday. (She likes this kind of food better than I do.) I just had the Basil Chicken for $10.50. My wife had the “Home Made Roti” ($3.50) as appetizer and Ginger Duck Noodle in soup ($8.00). The food was very good, although my wife said that she... More
