This restaurant is a favorite among Asians as well as everyone. Good food. Good menu. Take out is great if you want to pick up. Just like going to Shanghai for lunch or dinner without the jet lag!!

It's not the cleanest of places nor the waitstaff the most courteous but the soup dumplings are to die for!

From all the places we visited in NY this was by far the less expensive and one of the best Asian food we had. We were 10 Adults 2 kids (5 and 6) and 2 babies (14months and 8 months) and we tried the most popular dishes on their menu and everything was delicious. My only complaint is that even... More

We ordered one steamer (8) of the regular pork soup dumplings and one steamer (8) of the pork crab soup dumplings. The amount of soup that were in each dumpling was quite impressive. I wouldn't recommend you trying to one-bite these bad boys but that's what I did and it was glorious. 10/10 would go again.

Today we stopped by Joe's Shanghai for a quick bite between Broadway shows (Matilda & Cats). It was cold and rainy outside. We walked the distance between time square and Joe's in about 15 minutes, fortunately after the rain had stopped. We sat down very quickly in the upstairs dining room. The waiters could not of been more pleasant and... More

A friend of my husband's recommended the restaurant so we went. The pork soup dumplings are phenomenal. I want some more right now - I wish I knew someplace local that made them. I took my toddler - he loved them as well. Staff was very friendly. There is always a large fish tank with gold fish in it. My... More

While the steamed dumplings are good, I've never been impressed by the rest of the food. Ever since the NY Times published a story years ago lauding Joe Shanghai's dumplings as the best, there's been a line out the door waiting to get in. I don't think it's worth the wait as now there are many Chinese restaurants serving juicy... More

The decor and service here are typical of cheap Chinese restaurants. Wait in line. No decor to speak of. Then your food comes in moments after ordering. You eat, they rush you out. Probably the best soup dumplings in NY, but I don't have a nice experience when I go to Joe's.
