We live in the Las Vegas NV valley but were in the Fishkill NY area for ten days in October 2024. The Red Line Diner was very close to our hotel so we tried it the first day and it was so good we kept going back. While we tried other restaurants in the area, we consistently had the best experience at the Red Line Diner whether it was for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We even stopped by a couple of times to bring some of their awesome dessert items back to our hotel. In particular, Tony, often seated us. He was extremely friendly and personable. Likewise, Brooke, a food server, was a real pleasure to deal with. She waited on us a couple of times. This place is busy all the time which is understandable because the food and service are fantastic. Additionally, it’s a very clean and well-maintained establishment. The reference "diner" tends to paint a certain picture in one's mind but make no mistake, this is a superior restaurant with a very talented kitchen staff. The food they put out is "a cut above." While it has a huge menu like most diners, anything we ordered was delicious. For consistently good food and service, the Red Line Diner is the best "diner" I have ever experienced. My wife and I wish we had one here in the Las Vegas / Henderson area.

Diners famously have such extensive menus that one wonders how they keep the extensive ingredients in stock and fresh. Most are seedy and rundown. Not so, Red Line Diner; it is huge with at least 100+ tables and sparkling clean. It was hopping even during a late 2PM lunch. My go to lunch is a grilled cheese with ham and tomato. Because Red Line has a bakery on site, the bread was fresh and delicious. My sandwich was the best Grilled cheese I’ve ever had in my 75 year history of eating them. The side coleslaw was home made, not factory wholesale. My wife’s salad crisp and crunchy with spot on Feta. From now on I’m going to time every trip I make crossing the Hudson on Rt 84, so I can stop at the Red Line for a meal. It’s that good.

We went to this diner to eat between 1PM and 2PM and we went not really knowing what we wanted to eat, and we had a great dining experience, so here is the rating: between a 1 and a 5. Atmosphere 5; customer service 5; wait time for food 5; food 5; cleanliness 5. I had a wonderful experience at this diner and this diner is always full, but it runs smoothly, everyone seems to get a seat and all goes well in the diner, so yes, I will go again, when I get a chance, and I would refer a friend.

If you want simple diner fare, stick to the regular menu and lower expectations and you will be happy. They had an impressive menu, breakfast specials seemed really trendy. What they didn't have was coordination between the menu and the kitchen. I had a choice of Red Line Diner or Cracker Barrel, and chose the Diner because I thought it would be fun. Our service was OK, the waitress was quite busy and never refilled my coffee or water, nor did I see her once they became empty. I ordered a special (lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries). The dish was more expensive than the regular pancakes, and I was willing to pay extra for maple syrup, but it wasn't offered. If it was on the regular menu, I didn't notice, since I only glanced to see if they offered a short stack on there. They didn't. I would have paid extra because Lemon Ricotta pancakes deserve real maple syrup. To make it even less appealing, it was served with something the waitress thought was whipped butter but tasted and looked more like whipped crisco. After the waitress took the order at the table next to ours, I asked for butter - more than half-way through my first pancake. She kindly brought me butter - but I guess we just buy really quality butter at home, because it was only a small improvement. And those lemon ricotta pancakes weren't Nigella's recipe. They were good, don't get me wrong, but the only difference between them and regular pancakes seemed to be the lemon flavoring that didn't taste like it was actual lemon, but more like something from a bottle. I was disappointed because the guy at the front (host, owner, one of them) was wearing a suit, so I thought - hmmm - fine dining. Upscale. I saw the breakfast special menu and was pleasantly surprised. The pleasant part ended when first my coffee tasted stewed (now I admit it was closer to noon than morning, so maybe I could have been getting the last cup, and since I never got another, I couldn't compare), the water was very very iodine-y. Now those are my complaints. My husband ordered Manhattan clam chowder & grilled cheese. He said the clam chowder was delicious. The grilled cheese though was just about too salty to eat, and this from a guy who salts just about everything I make, so I'm glad I didn't order that. And he finished his water, and it took a while to get another glass. Why do restaurants bring you a "side" glass of water when that's the only beverage you order. I can see my getting a medium glass, he should have gotten the larger glass in the beginning. I didn't get a refill on water either, since I wasn't ready when he was. I hate making negative statements. The restaurant/diner was clean, the place may have been understaffed, and they were busy. Don't know what they will do when the Dutchess Fair starts in a few days. I had hoped it would be a place to meet friends who live north of there, but I can't in good conscience recommend it.

We always stop here for a meal on our trips up to the Boston area to visit family or back home to the Harrisburg PA area. Over the past 11 years we have stopped here probably 2 dozen times. We could always count on a good meal at reasonable prices. But for the past 2-3 years, the experience has gone down hill. Food comes out cold, it takes a long time to get an order filled, the prices have gone through the roof, etc. Just this past Saturday (12/23/23), we stopped for a late breakfast. The place wasn't very busy at 9 am but the service was slower than I would have expected, and when the food came out finally, everything was cold. When you order eggs, they have got to be hot. Home fries and corned beef hash was also tepid. Very unsatisfying. It's a shame since the place is located near the middle of the trip, but we might have to look at over alternatives is this keeps up.

Although a place is very popular and bust it still needs to take care of We live diners and inexperience did not live up to the hype. The food ordered cin Jed the way wanted was seriously lacking Breakfast o corn beef hash, home fries snd scrambled eggs did not come with well done hash browns , well done beef hash and the eggs did but not have the requested onions in them. My wife’s order had the eggs cooked fine but again undercooked potatoes and hash. under cooked hash snd potatoes No silverware was delivered first least 6 Minutes. Giving us cold food . If you can not give what customers want then you are no value to us. Also m hit water in my tea was not refilled. Poor customer service and I do not care how many others were served correct all the time. That is your job I gave average rating as a consolation that it was lunch time but I will not return

It was an unfortunate dining experience at the Red Line Diner on Route 9. We have dined at this diner on many occasions. Although the wait was short at their busiest lunch hour we were seated by the bathrooms and kitchen area. Which is quite distracting. The waitress basically threw the plates in front of us, and the order was not complete. The burger we ordered was as tough as a frisbee and when we pointed this out, she presented us with a check that included the hamburger that was not eaten. We believe we approached the owner as he asked us how our meal was. When we informed him quietly of how unpleasant our experience was, he pointed to his manager who was working the register. He had a passive aggressive attitude and questioned if we had eaten the burger. Then he offered us a discount on the meal which is a first for us. We followed with our request for a full refund and left a 15% percent tip for the waitress. We normally tip higher, but she needs to be trained in how to serve a meal. We will never eat at the Red Line Diner again.

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, often three times a week, so it saddens me how low it has fallen. Life issues have reduced my patronage to pickup orders none of which have been correct in a long time. Even when begging them to double-check the order on the phone, it arrives incorrect. Simple things like getting the cheese right or remembering the tomatoes seems to be impossible yet they never fail to nickel and dime you for an extra pickle (which you will be charged for but may or may not make the bag). Even speaking with a manager fell on deaf ears. t saddens me to say that I will not be ordering here again.

Food was excellent, service was fast, place was spotless. $29 for coffee, soda, fully loaded omelette with toast and home fries, sausage and a sausage egg and cheese sandwich (2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 cheese). Portions large.

Fantastic food and service at Red Line Diner. The menu is comprehensive, and I struggled to choose between a broiled seafood platter, a marinated skirt steak, or the ribeye steak dinner special. The waitress strongly suggested the ribeye steak special. The meal came with a HUGE ribeye, asparagus, onion straws and a baked potato. I was not disappointed. All were excellent. The steak was reasonably spiced including a little sprig of fresh rosemary. Excellent food & excellent service. Enjoy!

We were traveling and staying at a nearby hotel. This place was close by so we decided to try it. My mouth started watering as soon as I walked in the door and saw the dessert case full of cheesecakes and other offerings. The menu offers just about anything you can think of, American, Mexican, Greek, etc. I didn’t realize that breakfast was served all day or I may have opted for that. I had the Spinach Pie appetizer as my meal. The salad was very good, but I was a little disappointed with the Spanakopita, as I expected it to be homemade with the flakey crust after to seeing the bakery dessert case. My husband had the Chipotle chicken sandwich and said it was okay. Our desserts, however, were fantastic! We had the Oreo Cheesecake and the the Brownie Cheesecake respectively, and tell you it’s worth the trip to this diner! I splurged and got one of those horseshoe shaped almond with chocolate dipped cookie pastry for breakfast the next morning. It was very sweet and rich and I loved it! My best advice for this place is to go for dessert!

Ordered a Cajun burger, got a frozen pattie with sweet relish on it; no Cajun seasonings or seasoning of any kind. Yuk! Fries were good though. Also ordered a spanakopita (classic Greek spinach pie). I asked if it was good and made in house. They said yes, then they served frozen Trader Joe’s spanakopita that they deep fried. Best part of the meal was the Greek salad that came with The spinach pie.

We went here because it was close to our hotel. We did not know what to expect but were very happy to choose this diner. We were seated promptly, the food was delivered quickly and was delicious and in huge portions. Employees were professional and courteous. Would definitely return if in the area again.
