Great taste and offer varieties of indonesian cuisine. The place is in queens, a bit far from metro station but worth trying. They offer gado2, rendang, soto, siomay, and other genuine indonesian dishes.would love to come back here again.

The food was good but the portion was small. Waitress was rude by asking tip even before it was left. How rude is that when you demand a tip for bad service.

Great Indonesian food in the middle of Queens, NY. Location is not so pleasant but for those Indonesian food lovers will have a good experience with this restaurant. Server/Owner are not too friendly and restaurant need much much improvement but the 'ayam bakar' make the visit worth it. No Credit Card is a down side.....

Even the food is ok.....the service at Upi Jaya is terrible!!!!!!! You have to wait forever to get your food on the table.....the waitress was not friendly at all....... As other people say, they did not explain why the bill was so high, and in top of that, she asked for a 20% tip...... If the owner of this restaurant... More

The waitress was rude, did not explain the bill, and expected 20% tip. I am generally a large tipper but when someone who was rude and not courteous said "I am keeping the change for tip", it ticked me off. The check was for $84, the money given was $100, and the waitress boldly said "I am keeping the change... More

Please set your mind correctly before visiting : this is a really small place. No fancy décor. It is actually very similar to most eateries you find in Indonesia unless you go to the restaurants in hotels or malls. The menu is extensive, make sure you try several of them, because Indonesian cuisine is so broad in taste that you... More

As someone who grow up with Indonesian food and eat padang food wherever I travel in Indonesia, certainly the food in Upi Jaya is not up to par. The service was bad and expects high tip. Location is okay as it is only few blocks away from 64th station on 7 train. The server keep talking to herself aloud. But... More

What may be missing in ambiance and comfort is more than made up for by the depth of the sauces, the complexity of the curries and the originality of tastes. Having visited several times, I can safely say I have tried over 50% of the menu and while certain things may appear overcooked (lamb), the beef curry really was deep... More

We recently had lunch at Upi Jaya with a group of Indonesian friends who live in the area. Upi Jaya features authentic Indonesian Cuisine and the restaurant is primarily frequented by Asian clientele who find home cooked dishes from their part of the world. A group of Malaysian diplomats were having lunch during my recent visit. Upi Jaya is not... More

When you go there, everyone in the restaurant is Indonesian or Asian. A good sign as it seems like there was a lot of comfort food on the menu and everyone in the small restaurant was happily eating for a very reasonable amount. We had gado gado and vegetables, some tasty tofu and peanut entree, a beef dish, rice and... More
