We just moved to Ellenville and made Gaby's Cafe our first dinner spot. It was a perfect experience. The wait staff is friendly and hard working, the margaritas are delicious, and the food came out promptly and was so fresh! The house made Guacamole was...rich and so, so fresh, the complimentary salsa that came with the chips had just the perfect amount of cilantro. We had mussels, calamari and chilis rellenos and everything was so light, perfectly seasoned and fresh. I can't repeat enough the word fresh. The mussels were sweet, the calamari soooo tender, and we could only have a taste each of the Chilis because we were sated but not stuffed. We will be eating our leftovers for breakfast! The decor is colorful and tasteful, and surprisingly quiet for a full dining room with brick walls. The room was busy for a Monday night, and it's no wonder! Gaby's is wonderful! Eat there!More

I stopped here for lunch over Labor Day weekend while in the area with my sister, my 26 year old niece and 23 year old nephew. A fun, delightful atmosphere, good food and good drinks and pleasant service. My only complaint is that a 20%...tip was added onto the bill with no mention made. My niece, without my knowledge, took the check to pay the bill as a show of appreciation to me. Luckily her mom - my sister - noticed the tip was already included. Not realizing that, my niece was adding in yet another 20%!! The bill before tip was $225, it was $270 after the $45 tip. My niece would have included another $54 had it not been noticed. I looked but saw no mention of an automatic addition of tip anywhere. I'm sure it was an oversight not to say anything but it left a bad taste in our mouth, no pun intended. It was a good lesson for my niece but she works very hard to make what money she has and that would just not have been right had she ended up paying a $99 tip.More

We sat outside for lunch and watched the world go by! Excellent tortilla chips and a huge serving of well made guac (worth the extra $$). The chorizo was delicious and the mole was well seasoned and worth writing home about!

We have been to Gaby's many times over the last few summers. We've enjoyed their food when they were a smaller location across the street from their current location, and still enjoy their food. We went there last week and felt very safe in this...Covid environment. Some people chose to sit outside, and we chose inside. There was plenty of space between us and the other tables, and all our servers wore masks. We enjoyed the red sangria, the enchiladas and the burritos that we ordered, and there was enough to take leftovers home. We will return to Gaby's again and again.More

I've been visiting Gaby's for take-out during the pandemic, and they couldn't possibly make the experience easier. I call in advance, pay with a credit card (including the gratuity, which they soooooo deserve), pull up in front of the restaurant and, masked and gloved, they...run the food right out to the car. And their food is SOOOOO delicious! (Tonight I had fish tacos; last time I had the scallops dinner, both times with their incredible flan for dessert.) Dinners come with a big bag of their signature nachos, with homemade guacamole and salsa. Gaby's is just the BEST...a wonderful, wonderful meal!!!More

I have been here before and was very pleased. The chicken enchiladas I had today were good, just a bit under spiced. I would like a bit more seasoning. Portion size was large, service pleasant and prompt. A reasonably priced option to get good food...- just ask for additional spices!More

Gaby's Cafe is a very attractive restaurant, but more important is the quality of the food, service and prices. It is the best Mexican food I have eaten, and they will make it as spicy as you want. I rarely go to Ellenville, but definitely...know where I'll be eating. There is one hour free street parking, but if you need more time there is a free municipal parking lot across the street.More

I was served lemonade with a bug in the glass last night. No apologies when I changed to cola. Actually charged me for the lemonade, that cost more than the cola. I guess maybe an extra charge for the bug. Bill came to $95.00 for...2 meals,1 Tostada and a $11.00 Bloody Mary with a piece of lemon and lime, would it kill them to add an olive at that price. The food was good but over priced for what they give. No sides, salad or soup or bread. Chips and salsa free. Manager, who I approached, gave me an annoyed look when I suggested that at the very least the "bug drink" should have be comped by the waiter with an apology. He actually said to me it is only $3.00 and the waiter does not know any better. He then ask me "what would you like for me to do",duh. I suggested he comp both the lemonade and Bloody Mary. In disgust, he took the bill to adjust and he minuses the $3.00 bug lemonade, what a sport. He did say I am sorry as he handed me the adjusted bill. That was my fourth and finale time at Gaby's.,More
