My friend and I spent 4 days in the FLX region where we were vending at the FLX Wine Festival in Watkins Glen. On our last day there , which was a Monday, we took the extra day to hike Watkins Glen and spend some...time exploring. After the hike, we were starving and desperate for lunch and a place to rest and relax. We found that 90% of the wineries in the area either had no form of food service or were closed on a Monday. I know it's Monday, but geez, this area was teeming with visitors mid-summer. After some searching online, we stumbled onto Tabora which stated that they had a deli and bakery. So we headed over and ordered sandwiches, salads and a desert from the deli counter and ate them outside on the covered rear porch area. What a delight! Everything was very very good! We also bought a bottle of their Rose wine to have with lunch and we really enjoyed it. As we were leaving and standing in line to buy another bottle of the Rose to take with us, we ran into some other patrons who were talking about the wine tasting they had just done in another building across the parking area. They suggested we go do it and said the woman working there was very knowledgeable, so we decided to give it a try. We walked into the lovely big barn area where they do tastings and found we were the only ones there except for Jean who was behind the bar. We had the bar all to ourselves so we saddled up and told Jean about the rave review she had just received across the way. We chuckled and then, she served up two flights of wines that were really surprisingly excellent! AND, she was, in fact, very knowledgeable about each one and really added to the experience with descriptions and suggestions! After about an hour of delightful wines and conversation, we ended up joining their wine club, buying a case of wine and had a memorable experience enhanced by conversation with Jean who we found to be a kindred soul. She even carried the case of wine to our car for us. We will be back in the area next year for the festival and this will definitely be our go to spot and we will be ordering wine from them the rest of the year. Many thanks to Tabora for serving lunch and to Jean for a wonderful afternoon!More

There's few places to eat on Seneca Lake while wine touring. This is a definite stop. Everything is homemade! Lunch & dessert! Amazing Selection of quiches, cookies, pastries, break, salads and sandwiches, etc. They are very fast getting your order made. The winery is pretty...cool, too! Bring jacket in case it's cool on the patio. Get extra for breakfast next morning.More

I went here with a group of girls for my bachelorette weekend and it was a highlight of our wine trial journey. Excellent wine, food, and staff. There were so many desert and food options. We visited in May and it was a cold weekend,...there were not a lot of options for indoor dining unfortunately when we came. We did sit outside and it was pretty cold, would be absolutely fine on a warm dayMore

After a morning of wine tasting, we needed a light lunch. The winery suggested Tabora. My wife and I split an artisan sandwich and browsed (it takes a while to get the sandwiches made). Lots of great baked goods on display, so we grabbed some...for the next day's breakfast at our inn (which did not offer a real breakfast). If you plan on dining at Tabora this time of year (winter/fall), bring a jacket because there isn't really a dining room; just outdoor with heaters. The sandwich and bread were fresh and quite good. This would be a great place from which to pack a picnic for a day of wine tasting.More

Our times at the tasting room are absolutely a pleasure...wonderful wine, very friendly and knowledgeable people serving us and making conversation. The bakery and deli offered excellent cookies, pastries, bread, salads and quiches. The food is really good and I often go there for take...out since I live within an hour's drive and it's worth it. The problem lies with servers and cashiers there. I know the room is small and very often crowded with shoppers and it's important to keep things moving along, but a smile and a friendly, rather than annoyed answer to inquiries would be appreciated.More

Before the pandemic, Tabora was great, with superb selection and service covering a wide array of bakery and deli offerings. The pandemic has hit them hard, and their offerings are limited, and their service has really suffered. They benefit because of the lack of competition...locally, but one hopes they will improve when the pandemic is over. But if you decide to patronize them now you have to take the bad with the good. Be forewarned.More

My husband and I went to the winery, we just follow the signs off of the main road around the lake. What a gem! Jean was the nicest hostess ever. She was entertaining and such a pleasant person to talk to. Josh or Jeff was...nice and funny. Jean though would have us coming back. We did not have reservations, but were allowed to sample wines and thoroughly enjoyed them. The cafe shop had some excellent selections to help us create a fantastic picnic and afternoon. I'd recommend this winery with beautiful views, great wines and fantastic folks to help make that experience a memorable one.More

I'm a wine geek and had been planning a Finger Lakes trip for months. In all that time, I'd never heard of Tabora Farm and Winery - certainly not in any lists of the best quality wineries. We only went because our designated driver service,...Keuka Taxi, recommended it as a good place to stop for lunch. That sounded good to us, so we went, thinking maybe we wouldn't even go in for the wines. Once we were there, though, we figured "why not?" Well, we are so glad we did! Tabora turned out to be our favorite of all the wineries we visited. It started with the fantastic, friendly, and informative tasting conducted by Jean. (Keith came by and chimed in with insights, too!) When it turned out we had nerdy questions about the wine, they brought out a binder full of details on their French-American hybrid varietals, and Jean even threw in an extra taste of the De Chaunac for us at the end. So the service was great, but what about the wine? This, too, was a surprise. We really liked the wines we tried - Flights 1 and 4, which (if I recall correctly - this was a week ago now) featured the classic wine varietals as well as the local, less common ones respectively. One standout was the rose of cabernet franc - very much like the strawberry shortcake as they described (but totally dry). And the dry riesling! You know, the winery we went to immediately after Tabora was the illustrious Hermann J. Wiemer, which is often said to have the best wines in the Finger Lakes, so we held off buying the dry riesling -- but in the end, we didn't buy HJW's, but came back to buy Tabora's. Also worth noting was that Tabora has a Niagara that, unlike some, actually tastes like a proper wine (even if it is made out of the grape more well known for Welch's white grape juice). So, if you're interested in unusual things like that, do check out Tabora. Props to the winemaker! In the end, we had such a good time talking to Jean and Keith about their wines that our driver had to come in and fetch us, and we never made it to the cafe! Oh well. (We did come back the next day to try it, though. The quiche really is good. And we bought more wine to take home.) We're really excited to have found Tabora and think they, their winemaker, and their great team deserve more attention, hence our glowing review.More

Average Deli food. Clean facility. Many items such as drinks don’t have prices listed. Quality of food is just ok. Didn’t try wines. Facility clean. Expensive for a deli and what it offers.

Nice winery with an excellent bakery and deli. There are surprisingly few places to get a good lunch in the area, but one of the other wineries recommended Tabora and we’re glad they did. Excellent hot and cold sandwiches and fresh baked goods are available...in their cafe. Wine tastings are available in a nearby tasting room. It’s the type of winery that offers tastings based on choosing one of 4 predefined selections. The staff was friendly and helpful.More

Writing mainly about the cafe/bakery here…disappointed not to have had time to get to the winery (yet) but it looks very awesome and very worthy of our time. A few of the locals recommended Tabora if you are looking for great sandwiches, soup, baked goods...that are done on premise, etc. You will find all of this here! Whether wanting to take with you to eat while visiting a winery or just to have for a picnic lunch, this the place. Fresh and varied selections. Very nice staff as well… we have returned several times. Highly recommend!More

We had a fantastic experience at the wine tasting! Even though the barn was about to close, Jean was exceptional— she took her time, really tried to pair us up with wines that we would like best (outside of the flights), and genuinely seemed passionate...about her job. In our opinion, it’s the experience that matters most at these places. They can have five-star wine and ruin the visit with one-star service or one-star personalities. Jean was great! We will be back!More
