This is a rustic restaurant, but with warm vibes. Nick and his wife, Pepe, own and run the restaurant with a reasonable selection of good hearty food and some very good appetizers. While the wine list is limited they do have some good local wines and dinner won't break the bank. Tom C.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff, the food and the management at this restaurant! We went out east for Mothers Day as a last mnute decision and I called this restaurant based on the reviews - they were booked solid but the owner (?) or manager squeezed us in and although she was stern in the time slot she had available, she was honest and accomodating to help us meet the time constraint. I do not regret for a moment that we chose to go here, even on limited timing. Our food was out in 10 minutes and was absolutely delicious! The staff was so attentive and gracious as I had a 2 year old with me also. We can't wait to visit again and promise to call in advance. Your patience and compassion was well received by my entire family. Thank you for a memorable meal! Our meal: Escargot, Mussels, Red Rooster Salad, Seafood Cakes, Duck and Penne with Shrimp - The seafood cakes were my favorite!

I cannot believe that we have never eaten at this charming restaurant with such delicious food over the many, many , many years we have lived on the eastern end of Long Island. Since our NOFO neighbor recommended it, we have dined here 3 times. Each visit the host and employees have been attentive, accommodating, and just plain fantastic. It does not look like much on the outside, but it is charming inside and filled with special touches. I loved the rooster decorations and the dishes too. So, what about the menu and food? Terrific menu with something for everyone and everything I have ordered during my 3 visits has been delicious. And don't get me started on dessert Freshly made and oh so yummy! The wine list is ample too and we even had some very good cocktails to start. Now that we have found you we will be back over and over again!!

Red Rooster is off the main road. The ambiance resembles “grandma house remodeled into a small restaurant and bar. It has a cozy but outdated feel to it. The menu is decent and some of the “touches” offer great promise, it the truth is they don’t deliver. The mussels were supposed to be served in a sherry based sauce. Simply put, they were served in New England clam chowder. The chicken Milanese was well prepared and breaded but pulled from the oil and immediately played. The dish was unseasoned and drenched in oil.

Decorated as a French Country Inn, you are presented with an attractive menu of American and European delights. The bartender's special drink is a spicy margarita, adding just enough jalapeno to give it some slight heat. My wife and I shared the Escargot, a large serving served in a creamy garlic sauce with bread to mop up the leftover sauce, a far cry from the ordinary presentation in a tray with garlic butter. As the entree, my wife had the beet salad with shrimp, an excellent combination of field greens and deep red beets with a creamy dressing and the shrimp bathed in a buttery sauce. I had the eggplant rollatini, two large pieces, with plenty of cheese inside and incorporated in the sauce. Unfortunately there was no room for the interesting desserts presented. It has been some time since we visited and must put it back on our list to visit more often. Well worth the drive to find it slightly off the main roads. It also has a very interesting history.

I would give them no star if possible. Have been coming here for years as we live in Orient. Tonight had the worse experience thanks to an owner that has no control over her own establishment. Made a reservation with my daughter for dinner. We were seated in the middle room. Soon a group of 20 year olds were seated in the same room. They became rude, loud and obnoxious and the entire restaurant soon enough was aggravated. When I asked the table to please be quiet I was verbally attacked. The waitress went up to the owner letting her know what was happening and instead of her handling the situation she walked away. My daughter also approached the owner and she did absolutely nothing. In order to avoid a scene we left while the group continued to make rude comments. Owner went into hidding. I called the owner later in the evening to discuss what happened and her only comment was that she cant control everyone in her restaurant. There is no excuse for the owner's inability to control her establishment. As stated, have been coming here for years both summer and winter. Will not return and urge others to avoid. As a patron I should not have to address other patrons of their bad behavior. That is the exclusive responsibility of management. This would never happen in a professional restaurant. Even a good meal dosen't compensate for a miserable experience.

We were two couples for dinner over the President's Week weekend. The couple we went with and with whom we were visiting had been here many more times than we had. We had only previously only been for breakfast and brunch, which was good, but not particularly memorable. The dinners we all had this weekend were especially memorable. Of note was the New England Clam Chowder of which I happen to fancy myself as something of an aficionado, having grown up in MA, and having a point made of sampling chowders claiming to be superior. The Red Rooster's chowder was not only uniquely seasoned, it was among the best chowder I have ever had. I highly recommend it. Dinner entrees were all very well prepared, nicely presented, delicious and the serving portions were generous. Service was professional. We had entrees of salmon, blue crab ravioli, flounder and chicken Milanese. We will most definitely return.

We came in for dinner after a day of wine tasting. We asked to sit outside, which has been our practice since the start of COVID. However, we were told that they were not seating anyone on their patio because it might rain. We were seated in a table by ourselves and did not feel that there was a risk. We enjoyed the local wines and the escargot, which had a very nice butter and parsley sauce. However, we were disappointed in the Beef Bourgonione. While the meal was OK, it was not what we expected when we think of a rich beef bourgonione. The eggplant rollatini was also good, but not great.

Red Rooster Bistro is a casual dining spot with a very relaxed atmosphere that serves excellent home cooked meals. The portions are ample and the quality of the food is what you would expect to eat at moms house. We were also pleased with the courteous service and attention to detail. An excellent choice if you need a place to dine in Cutchogue, NY.

Live in the area and for one reason or another just never had this cozy French-American restaurant on our radar but now we do. It is a little off the beaten path but worth the find. We sat at an inside table of 4 on an early Saturday night without a reservation. The menu was expansive with so many flavors to tempt the taste buds. We started with escargot and salads, then to chicken cordon blue, scallops and burgers. Everything was delicious and plentiful. We will be back! Enjoy.

Been there twice. A bit in the middle of nowhere but that's ok. Keep it to ourselves. Some of the best mussels we've ever had and fantastic burgers. Nice service and also discovered a local wine from their list. Early dinner on a weekday makes it easy to get in.

We were in north fork this past weekend. I had seen reviews of Red Rooster so we went. We got there at 6:45 and we had no reservations. It was packed . The bar tender waiter said give us 15 minutes we had a martini that he made and it was spot on. We got a table in ten minutes. Staff was great cordial and efficient. Food was superb. We shared seafood cake and a shrimp dish for apps. I had roast duck one of the best. My fiancé has salmon excellent. The chef owner came out to say hello. Inside it is quaint and homey literally off the beaten path. If you are every out in wine area of north fork go here you will be very impressed

The food is delicious here. I had the wild flounder which was in a lemon butter sauce that was amazing. We also had the scallops for an app and were cooked perfectly!! Diana the server was very good. I have never had a bad meal here. Key lime pie was made fresh by the owner and was so tasty.

Great experience. My husband and I were in the area for our 20th anniversary, and decided to come here for dinner. I had the duck which was some of the best I’ve had. Crispy on the outside, and moist inside. My husband got the chicken cordon blue, which he also very much enjoyed. We also had the tomato burrata appetizer, which was also great. Portions were generous, but not ridiculous. Service was attentive; no complaints. Decor is rustic and cute. Not too fancy, but just what we were looking for. We’ll be back when we’re in the area again.

I was out East with friends for a week. The weather wasn't great . It was their first time out on L.I. We looked for a great review for burgers. The Red Rooster popped up as No.1! Naturally we had to try it out. The night we went is was pouring rain. We ubered so we could drink. Upon arrival the first thing you notice is that the place is welcoming and homey. There's lots of wood and bric a brac. The staff is warm and personable and the place is obviously a family run business. The appetizers were amazingly fresh and delicious. The wine selection was excellent. The Black Angus Red Rooster Burger lived up to its reputation. Delicious and cooked to perfection. I recommended it hands down as the best Burger I've eaten on Long Island to date! After dinner we were unable to secure an uber. The owner's son drove us back to our hotel. It was just an amazing evening with great food courteous service and an act of kindness that won't be forgotten! I highly recommended this restaurant.
