From the moment my husband and I stepped into The Green Arch, we knew it was going to be a special experience. We were early for our reservation (a MUST) , so we sat in the beautifully maintained vintage bar for one of their signature...Old Fashioneds. While the atmosphere is casual without a touch of stuffiness, I found myself wishing I was dressed as in a film from the 1940's. Frank Sinatra crooned from the sound system. The cocktail, while certainly priced higher than Ingrid Bergman would have paid, was a bargain by modern standards. We were then guided to our booth in the equally cozy and vintage dining room. Service was friendly and welcoming. Classic Italian dishes (my husband had rigatoni with meatballs, I had angel hair and white clam sauce) were delicious and plentiful. Fresh baked bread and homemade Italian salad dressing complimented our meal. We live almost an hour away--but we will be back, and will bring friends!! A special evening out that won't break the bank.More

It's been twenty years since I stayed in Cortland and we were looking for a place to get some Italian Food. I asked a local small business owner for a good place to go and he recommended Green Arch. Green Arch was so much more...than a good place. This place is plain out magnificent! We arrived a bit later and the owner and staff went out of their way to make sure we were served. We enjoyed an excellent wine list; house wine was great and nice selection of beers. The shrimp gorgonzola appetizer served with sautéed spinach greens was an awesome starter followed by our entrees of Chicken Parmesan and Alla Vongole Pasta dish served with Fra Diavolo Sauce. The chicken in the parmesan dish was mouthwatering and tender. The dishes were served with angel hair pasta prepared to perfection. The entrées were served piping hot. So many of you know how difficult it is to serve the angel hair pasta cut without the dish losing it's warmth during the service. The dishes were served hot enough to stay warm throughout the dining experience. To top it off the flavor of each dish was extraordinary and flavorful! I will travel to Cortland again to go to this place. Little Italy has many places to get amazing Italian dishes. Let me tell you that you do not need to go downstate to find a mind blowing food experience. It's here in Cortland! Not only was the food special, so was the atmosphere. The place has the original decor that takes you on an adventure back in time to a more pure and innocent time of the mid twentieth century, complete with real working neon signs. Put this place on your bucket list today and come to Cortland, NY! THANK YOU Green Arch Restaurant, you hit it out of the park on a Thursday night. DanMore

Been there three times now. OMG Place is really "kitchy" but not in a planned way, in a normal evolution way from being there for 50 years. The 50-60's linoleum tile, bankette seating with the ceiling 3D art deco border scene is fantastic. You GOTTA...get the ribeye. Veggies are always perfect. Did I say that you gotta get the ribeye? The other dishes are great too from what I hear, but I always get...the ribeye. Last time there for desert I chose the Tiramisu. I was told that there was only one piece left, so you think they would bring out this haggard, piece....OH NO, out comes no smaller than a 6in by 6in SLAB of 2inch perfect Tiramisu. Was able to cut in half and give to two others to share, which was enough for them. UNBELIEVABLE! It was the BEST I have ever had and I have made my own.More

We had been looking for a restaurant in town that wasn't a chain or a pub grub kind of place. We found the Green Arch was #6 for local restaurants and we had never been. My wife and 2 kids walked in. We were the...only ones without reservations. Got worried we might not get a seat, maybe everybody else already knew about this place. Waited 5 minutes and the owner got us a table. My kids ordered Shirley Temples, which came reccomended from the waitress. They both got 3 cherries in their drinks. As far as they were concerned best place ever! We ordered our food. The kids meals were very good portions. Our 10 year old is at that point where kids meals sometimes aren't enough. She left full! And our meals were very good portions as well. The marinara sauce was excellent. My wife loved the chicken riggies. They were a little too spicy for her. But they're supposed to be spicy. Overall an excellent experience. The food was great. It wasn't fried bar food or warmed up chain meals. We will definitely go back! It's too bad it took us this long to discover it.More

Had dinner at the Green Arch last night and it was amazing ! The service was excellent and trust me the portions are very generous. Everyone in our group commented how good it was. Where they get another big “ kudos “ is that they...offer gluten free pasta. Have never been to an Italian restaurant that offers gluten free items that taste SO good ! Seriously appreciate that they do this. Highly recommend the Green Arch Restaurant you will not be disappointed.More

The Green Arch never fails. We were there for dinner Saturday night with friends, and it was delicious, as always. My husband had lasagna, as did the other husband; I had spaghetti and mushrooms, as did the other wife. All four dinners were excellent and...ample, and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our server this time was Jess, and she is pleasant and friendly and efficient; I am always happy when Jess is our server. I think the Green Arch is my favorite restaurant in Cortland, and I am very glad that Matt is maintaining the same wonderful recipes that Mary started out with.More

Stopped in as we did not like the place we were going to and we were glad we did. We had great service and an excellent meal. Food was great. Only negative was the salad was not ice cold. This is always an issue with...me. We were on our way to Buffalo and would have come back again on Sunday, but they were closed. If you are going to Courtland, you have to stop by. Dinner at the Green Arch tonight was outstanding, as it pretty much always is. I had angel hair pasta with mushrooms and sauce, and my husband had lasagna. Each entrée was accompanied by a side salad with house Italian dressing; he added blue cheese to...his. Both were delicious. I honestly don’t think I have ever had a better marinara sauce than what is served at the Green Arch. I love it. Tonight we shared a tiramisu for dessert, and it is a good thing we decided to share it, because it was about 4 1/2 in.². Amazing and delicious! There are other Italian restaurants in town but there is nothing that compares to the Green Arch.More

We hadn't been back to the Green Arch in some time - since it changed hands. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent. We had the riggies with meatballs and mushrooms, and the "Alla Vongole" - angel hair pasta and clams with a white...wine/olive oil/garlic sauce. Both were quite good. The Utica Greens were tasty, but a bit too salty for my liking. They did contain bacon, so that may have been a factor. The salads were also good, the house Italian dressing was perfect. And the wines were fantastic. We chose wines from Italy to go with our dinners - a Chianti and a Montepulciano - and both were excellent. Portions are large - you WON'T go home hungry! Wish we'd saved room for dessert! Greeters and waitstaff are very attentive and friendly.More
