I make it a point to visit this place at least quarterly. It is upstairs on Market Street. It is delicious. She practically cooks it right in front of you. Did I mention delicious? Cash only though

This is a very odd little restaurant with great Japanese food. You walk up a steep flight of stairs and then in through a door. Right there where you walk in, a little older Japanese woman is cooking up a storm and taking orders and making change. The menu options are printed out and pinned to the wall. There is... More

This is the one place you can eat in Corning NY for a fantastic (authentic) Japanese cuisines. I really enjoy them all, very delicious, reasonable price (very cheap), fast, and friendly. I suggest to bring some cash and you will need to climb to up stairs.

Bento Ya Masako is open a limited time during the day. The food is prepared by one woman in an open kitchen where you can see everything. There is a limited menu but SO GOOD. You have to try the offerings here

Bento is run by a retirement-aged woman that knows everybody! You walk up the stairs to the restaurant, which seems to be a converted apartment. My wife and I had the sushi, which came with ~10 pieces for $16. It was the best sushi around Corning and obviously bought fresh that day. She doesn't have sushi every day so make... More

When I worked in Corning, Bento Ya Masako was one of my regular places to eat lunch. We just called it "the Japanese lady" because the food is cooked right in front of you by Masako-san, the proprietress. Tasty and healthy, traditional choices.. mmm.. good stuff. Note for visitors: The restaurant is located on the second floor of its building,... More

Wish I could give this place a better rating because the food was fantastic. But you have to close your eyes at the cleanliness of the place. The kitchen is open for all to see and it is a disgrace. The box holding the chopsticks and the soy sauce bottles were so caked with grease that I did not want... More

When I worked in Corning years ago this was our place to go. It is still my place to go, nothing has changed in 20 years, the food is still very reasonable and super tasty. The owner goes out of her way always to accommodate your needs. Yum! Always call to make sure they are open.

This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant that you'll find in Corning. The hours are strange because the owner shops at the markets only on certain days. The place can be closed for weeks when the owner goes overseas. The place looks like a loft apartment. The food is incredibly good, though!

Love Masako's bento lunches. I am a local and pick up lunch on a warm, sunny day and eat it outdoors in Centerway Square. I honestly have yet to find something I don't like at Masako's.
