We stopped in Corning on our way to a conference in Buffalo. We are very fond of the Corning Glass Museum and visit when we are in the area. We were less than thrilled with the hotel food so based on reviews made a reservation at Three Birds. What a good choice! We were greeted warmly and seated at a table immediately. Our easily reached table was all ready with a chair removed for my wheelchair. None of the usual awkwardness. Adding to that warm greeting was hot Kummulweck bread, a special local treat - white bread flecked with rye seeds and kosher salt. Simple but delicious.
My hubby started with a cup of fish soup. It was overflowing with fish and veggies. After his first taste, he wished he had ordered a bowl. My Ceasar salad was perfect, topped with freshly shaved cheese and black pepper.
Hubby followed his soup with the Summer Fusion Noodle Bowl. Loaded with Asian veggies and perhaps more sauce than necessary, everything was hot and crunchy. My New York Strip was perfectly prepared as ordered, rare with a roasted garlic demi, fingerling potatoes, and enough local asparagus to share with some of the steak I could not finish.
Service was prompt but not rushed. We felt like an honored guest. We were stuffed but shared a creme brulee anyway. It was tasty if a bit grainy. Three Birds was an excellent find!

The food and ambience were terrific. I give them 5 stars even though there was one mis-step. Two of us ordered the seafood soup to start. It was served lukewarm (that may be generous) and was so over salted that we sent it back after a small taste. Flavor was good, but something went wrong in the kitchen. Server apologized and removed it from bill. After that, the rest of the meal was off the charts. The New Zealand Lamb was extremely tender and cooked perfectly rare as requested. The duck had just enough fat left to make the skin crispy and it was also cooked perfectly medium rare. The sauce was outstanding-a hint (just) of maple so that you knew it was there but it did not overpower. The puréed butternut squash and roasted brussels sprouts were perfect accompaniments. The fifth member of our party had the tenderloin with bernaise sauce. Again a perfectly aged and prepared piece of steak. Small wine list. We had a Malbec which was a great accompaniment to our meal. I thought, however that the wines were a bit overpriced. The Malbec we had was one I've had before, purchased from our local wine shop for about $22. The charge was $50 for it. Given that the restaurant would pay a wholesale price, I think the bottle should have cost between $38 and $42 or $43. So, only 4 stars on value. Food was fairly prices and worth every penny.

We had dinner with another couple on our road trip from Toronto to the Catskills, with a stop in Corning for a few days of hiking. The service was wonderful - kudos to Faith, who was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I brought an expensive old bottle of wine and the cork broke - she decanted it expertly. The food was interesting and superb. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

After my experience at Three Birds last night, I’m completely dumbfounded by all of the good reviews they’ve received. We are relatively new to the area and I picked this restaurant for my birthday dinner because of the good reviews. I’m pescatarian and there were multiple things on the menu that I was excited to try. Unfortunately upon arrival, we found that they were doing a limited holiday menu and none of the things I was interested in trying were available. The server informed us that they’d just decided a few days prior to go with a limited menu for the rest of the year. Had we known, we would have canceled our reservation. We almost left but decided to go ahead and order. My partner got a Caesar salad that was fine, I started with the crab cake appetizer. The menu said it came with a traditional remoulade sauce. What it actually came with was a chunky, green pickled relish, which was unappealing in presentation and flavor. My partner opted for the duck confit for his entree. The server asked how he wanted to the duck cooked, which was a baffling question since duck confit, when done properly, is cooked through. There was nothing special about it, it came with basic mashed potatoes, a handful of vegetables including just one Brussels sprout cut in half. The skin on the duck leg was not crisped at all, as is usually done on a properly executed confit. Overall, it was okay, but that’s it. I opted for the fig flatbread from the appetizer menu as my entree. The menu description said it came with a lemon arugula salad. When it arrived, it was a bland flat bread with chunks of dried fig, which I could hardly get my fork through, a few shreds of some sort of unmelted cheese and the arugula “salad” was hot and wilted, sautéed arugula with no discernible lemon flavor whatsoever. The whole dish was unappetizing and inedible. The service was also lacking. Our server dropped the apps off at the table and we didn’t see her again until she brought the entrees. She never asked if I wanted another glass of wine. We’re also still trying to figure out why there was a bottle of some type of flavored olive oil on the table when no bread is served. The entire experience was so disappointing that we didn’t stay for dessert even though I originally wanted to order creme brûlée as my birthday dessert, but didn’t want to spend another dime on subpar food. It’s astounding to me how short the execution fell on everything we ordered. It’s shameful that a chef would put out this kind of food and stand behind it. We’ve been to several other restaurants on Market Street and all have been excellent. Skip this place and go to The Cellar or the Quincy Exchange if you’re interested in a far superior dining experience. We should have gone with our instincts and left Three Birds as soon as we found out they only had the limited menu. My entire birthday experience was ruined by this place and their lack of quality.

We’ve had great experiences in the past at this restaurant, but tonight it was quite the opposite. Though the appetizer came out quickly and was hot. The main courses took a very long time and you could tell they had been sitting for quite some time as they were not even lukewarm. They tasted fine, but paying $54 for a piece of over cooked Hailbut that wasn’t even hot was a major disappointment

The meal I ordered at this restaurant (blackened salmon) was one of the worst I’ve ever eaten. The entire thing tasted like plastic. One of my dining companions ordered the scallops, which were served on angel hair pasta that looked like it had been stir-fried and contained celery. My wife’s lamb was good and the Brie appetizer was delicious. The service was excellent. But I am baffled that this place is supposedly the 3rd best restaurant in town.

While visiting Corning, we ate here to celebrate a birthday. The food and cocktails were very good. One tip: Book a reservation (the night we were there, they were turning people away who did not previously make reservations because they were booked solid). We also liked that they sat us by the windows (which were open) so that we could "people watch" why eating. They also have a huge bar which looked really nice. It's a nice place to have a romantic dinner.

We arrived at 6PM on Saturday June 5th. As I was seated and handed a menu, a cockroach landed on my left shoulder and quickly ran down my arm. I was wearing a sleeveless blouse, so this was especially gross. Our Caesar salads were taking a very long time to come out. When they finally arrived, they were served in warm (fresh out of the dishwasher) ceramic bowls with virtually no salad dressing. The waitress was able to fix the issue by delivering new salads in different shaped chilled bowls with salad dressing. I am not sure why they couldn't have done this right the first time. They obviously already had the bowls in the cooler when we placed our order. We both ordered the Mahi Mahi, which was extremely overcooked to the texture of compressed sawdust. The fish was also not seasoned. The roasted beets that came on the side were so heavily salted they were inedible. When I politely asked to talk with the owner/manager, I was told by the bartender, he was not here and it was just him and the hostess in charge. What kind of restaurant does not have a manger on duty on the busiest night of the week? No wonder everything was a mess. To top it off, my guest slipped on the stairs leading down from the upstairs restroom. When she went to grab the handrail, it came off the wall, further injuring her. I can't make this stuff up, if I tried! The evening was a great disappointment. We were celebrating a birthday and looked forward to going out to dinner for the fist time without having to wear COVID face masks. Three Birds had been a great experience a couple years ago. We were really looking forward to our meal. I can only guess the original chefs have left during COVID. I can't believe they have trained chefs in the kitchen right now with everything that went wrong.

This is THE only place to eat in Corning! Amazing food, drinks and service. Faith was the consummate server taking care of everything without hovering - she knows the menu by heart and can recommend items. The bar drinks were outstanding (Old Fashioned and Cucumber Martini) and the entrees were cooked perfectly (hanger steak and Rack of Lamb - a full 8 rib rack!). Fine dining.

Pleasant looking downtown restaurant. Saturday night, made reservations but seemed unnecessary as only about half full. Nice to see table cloths for a change too. Staff were very friendly and obliging and service was well paced.
The food was a bit disappointing. The appetizer salad was good but my main dish, spaghetti puttanesca was too liquid, more like broth so not authentic. The prawns I added were however, okay. Partners chicken dish was okay but nothing special. Good wine however, another delicious Finger Lakes Riesling.

In Corning NY for Glass, of course, but everyone needs to eat. Seated and served by Michelle, we dine on exquisite baked Brie, toasted almonds, and seasonal fruits followed by a New Zealand rack of lamb and a beef tenderloin that were cooked as ordered!, and accompanied by a delightful Italian 2016 Valpolicella Ripassa . Finishing with a creme brûlée, a very special evening was had!, Michelle and support staff earning at least three Michelin stars for the Three Birds!

My wife and I recently enjoyed dinner at Three Birds while visiting Corning and the Finger Lakes region over Valentines Day weekend. We had made reservations on Open Table for 7pm on Saturday the day after Valentines [2020]. We arrived 20 minutes early, so we were seated at bar till our table was made ready, our wait was short, and we enjoyed drinks while seated there. Let me point out that parking on Market on the weekend is at a premium, so we parked behind the restaurant in a pay lot which is free after 5pm and on weekends, and used the rear entrance. We were seated at a very nice table for two at the front window area. Our server was Brandi, a very pleasant and knowledgeable young lady. For an appetizer, we enjoyed Prosciutto Pear Bites, very pleasing. For our main entrees, my wife enjoyed a 8oz Choice Teres Major [ Shoulder Tender] and I enjoyed the Beef Tournedos au Poivre, both delicious and well prepared. For dessert we shared a slice of Red Velvet cake, again delicious. If your visiting Corning and surrounding area, make a point to enjoy Three Birds for a fine meal.

The restaurant is conveniently located in a very awesome downtown area with plenty of parking available. The restaurant inside is roomy and comfortable. A read of the menu is tantalizing but tasting the food was truly heavenly. I wish I could have met the chef. Everything is so fresh and delicious. If the Pumpkin Ravioli is on the menu, get it. If the Tiramisu is on the menu, get it. I’m sure you could throw a dart at the menu and be beyond delighted! The bar is expansive with a wonderful selection of whiskeys, liqueur, and wine. Our server, Faith couldn’t have been more attentive. Faith is professional, knowledgeable and just a delightful person. Thank you “Three Birds” for a fantastic evening.

We were very excited about eating here on our weekend visit to Corning and we were not disappointed. We were welcomed warmly, seated promptly, and felt very safe with the socially distanced tables. Faith was a perfect server and all the food was delicious, including the rack of lamb, scallops, and NY strip steak. We all sampled three desserts: The pear crisp, the tiramisu, and the unusual chocolate pate were all good. Coupled with a full bar and a nice wine list, we had a wonderful meal and I am looking forward to going back.

We were visiting Corning, and based on Trip Advisor info, we decided to try Three Birds. We were not disappointed. We started off with martinis, and that probably was the weakest part of the meal. They simply did not seem well-balanced. But we moved on to a glass of wine, and TB has a very nice selection. I tried the spiedini (an Upstate NY classic), and my partner had a steak. Both were delicious. For dessert, we chose the creme brulee, which was an excellent way to finish the meal.
All in all, it was a very relaxing evening. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very subdued, and you are surrounded by lovely landscape paintings. The service was excellent, and I would definitely recommend Three Birds for a memorable dinner experience.
