Waited to be waited on, already phoned in order and waitress was running around waiting on other people, don’t know if she was only waitress or what. Finally waited long enough and had to walk up to her and ask for our take out order....We ordered lemonade and 2 waters to go, thought we were getting two bottled water, but to our surprise seltzer or soda water, it was awful, and we didn’t even drink it. Burgers and blackened chicken were good, but for service and using there head on giving bottled water, instead of the water they gave us was disappointing.More
We asked a shopowner what he thought was the best restaurant in cooperstown. He quickly replied that it was Mel's, located on the corner at the only traffic light in town. We went in at 5:15 PM on the Saturday before Easter, with a reservation....Service was good. We both liked the appetizer, which was pulled pork tacos--very tasty. My bride had the pesto shrimp over ravioli, which she enjoyed. I ordered the lobster risotto, which also came with four large scallops--excellent. The seating was well spaced out in two rooms with a panoramic view of beautiful downtown Cooperstown. We were happy we went to Mel's and will go there again when in Northern Otsego County!More
In Cooperstown for a weekend during the pandemic but before the season opened, we made our way to Mel’s. We should have made a reservation but we were out of practice as this was one of our first meals at a restaurant inside in a...year!
When we called, the hostess told us we could our luck first come, first served at the bar so that’s what we did. Fortunately we only had to wait 5-10 minutes for two bar spots to open up. The bartender took good care of us for both food and drinks and even made a fresh pot of coffee for us. He gave us great service and we were very happy w the menu and our dinners. I had a shrimp risotto special while my friend had miso soup. The food was very tasty and plentiful. Everyone was very respectful with distancing and masks and it felt very clean.
The chef came out to make sure we were happy and sent out some delicious cream puffs as a treat. We also sampled the lemon blueberry marscapone cake for dessert! We left full and satisfied. It was a very nice experience and we will definitely go back!More
Walked to it on a lovely snowy evening. The exterior was extremely charming. Thats where it ended.
Inside it felt like it was trying to be a New York club. The music, the decor (made a mess by covid spacing) felt wrong. Missed opportunity to...be stylish while playing in the extreme charm of the area.
Lobster Risotto while tastey, was cold. Salad was good. Service was excellent.More
Best cocktails in town. 5 mile Manhattan was exceptional. Lobster Risotto was delicious packed with lobster meat and accompanied by five perfectly seared large sea scallops. Also had baked haddock which was fantastic.
Service was top notch. Atmosphere was upbeat and high energy.
We went for lunch. Not busy but it’s winter in New York and Cooperstown is a baseball Tourist town. Nice atmosphere and the food was great. We both opted for one of the specials, a beef brisket sandwich with cheddar cheese and caramelized onions on...a pretzel roll. One of the best sandwiches we have ever had. We go to Cooperstown often year round and never tried Mels. We will definitely be back.More
Coming into Cooperstown on a quiet Saturday afternoon we picked this lovely little restaurant on the main street corner. Plenty of restaurants to choose from in town but this one had large windows and a nice New England vibe. They offer indoor and outdoor dining....Excellent food, drink menu and great service.More
Great for takeout. Had the salmon w quinoa and my husband had chicken parm w spaghetti. Portions were very large and food was innovative and tasty. Minor complaint is that the plastic utensils were very flimsy, hard to cut food. Not a big deal but...did decrease our experience a bit. Overall a big hit!More
