Fairly good food, but noisy and distracting. Good service with friendly staff. Can be rowdy and too crammed in.

I was expecting the food to be a bit more elevated, and although they tried to incorporate more exotic items, the food seemed to be nothing more than generic bar food. Our server was excellent-and I loved the rustic decor! The lanterns and dim lighting,...view of the lake made for a really fun atmosphere. They tend to use a lot of sugar in their food items. The Korean fries were spicy, but also too sweet. The fries themselves were subpar. Needed some salt to balance out the sweetness. My bf’s lobster roll was decent. They did not offer a melted butter option, unfortunately. But it was good. My shrimp wrap was cloyingly sweet-again, needed salt or something else to balance out the sweetness. The shrimp were not particularly appetizing. Overly breaded and not seasoned. I’d go back for the atmosphere and service-But the food alone would not be enough to warrant a returnMore

Very charming atmosphere on the lake. Great views. Romantic. Food was just ok but I think what may have exasperated that was our server. She was absolutely awful. Everything took forever, she forgot to bring half of the order, she was chatting away with another...server closer to the bar area as if she was hanging out instead of working. By the end of the dinner it sort of ruined the experience. Would absolutely give it a second chance and plan to do that. Cute gift shop as well.More

We ate at the Blue Mingo Grill for dinner. We had no problem getting in without a reservation and were seated right away. I had a regular burger and easily substituted a vegetable for the french fries; my wife had chicken caesar salad with warm...bacon dressing. Both were good but there were some ingredients that were skimped on. The hamburger was large but the brussel sprouts were meager. There were maybe 4 brussel sprouts cut in half. There was not enough dressing for the salad and the goat cheese was barely there. The salad ingredients were all on the bottom of the salad under a lot of good lettuce and chicken. When eating it all you got was chicken and lettuce and when those were done you finally got to the other ingredients. I know you are saying, why not just mix the salad. We didn't know the other ingredients were there because they were buried under the pile of lettuce. It was served on a flat plate so mixing it was not an immediately obvious option. Otherwise the food was tasty. The bread was also very fresh and tasty; it came warm in the basket. The restaurant is right on Lake Otsego with a beautiful view. We were seated away from the window but asked to move to the window and were easily accommodated. The view was magnificent. We could see the beautiful Fall colors as the sun set. The service was very slow although I suspect this was more a problem of lack of help than the waitress. Our waitress was taking care of all the tables on the outside porch, maybe 10 of them. She brought over the bread without bread plates and the butter was frozen so it was impossible to spread on the bread. These are examples of the finer details that were not taken care of. Nothing was a big deal but the restaurant is rather pricey (the hamburger was $18) so you expect more than run-of-mill service and attention to detail. Another example of a detail where they could do better is that they put the specials on large slate boards that they place on a chair at the table. This is fine, the problem is that it obstructs the view. Because the service was slow, they were there for a long period of time. Again, not a big deal but just another example of the lack of attention to the details. Overall, we would recommend the Blue Mingo Grill for the view and reasonably good food. Expect to overpay for what you get and don't expect great attention to detail.More

Very nice lunch, good selection of menu items. A little pricey, but food was tasty and service was good. Opted to sit outside to enjoy view of lake. Will definitely go back!

Beautiful ambiance. Wonderful service. The food was a real disappointment. My scallops were like charcoal brickettes. And my companion could only find a few crumbs of lobster in her lobster pasta. I don't recommend it unless you don't mind spending waaaaaayyyy too much money for...food that isn't as good as McDonalds.More

Don’t look at their menu online. It doesn’t match the menu you get. Wish I had known before going. I’m on a low fat low salt diet which in most restaurants isn’t a problem. You just ask for things on the side. Not here. Pasta...is already mixed with the sauce. Pot pie is rich. No chicken options. They did have one salmon option. Ordered a burger and substituted a salad for fries. Dressing came on the side which was good. The burger tasted like it was cooked in a frying pan. No one came by to refill our water glasses or ask if everything was ok (it wasn’t crowded). For 2 drinks, a burger, soup and entree our bill was $84. A bit high. Won’t recommend.More

Excellent beet salad with yummy clam chowder with a beautiful water side view. Crab cakes were good and the sea bass excellent. Would return in a heartbeat.

One of our favorite restaurants in Cooperstown is the Blue Mingo. The menu continually changes and offers wonderful and interesting items from which to choose. The outside seating is especially welcome on beautiful summer evenings. You will love this place!

Casual attire is fine for dinner. Many guests arrive by boat in shorts.
