Delicious food, lovely view

We stopped in for a wonderful Sunday brunch/lunch. Our server, Elisa, was charming and attentive - the restaurant should be glad to have her on staff. We ordered one meal off the brunch menu and one off the lunch menu mentioning that we were going to share everything. She provided a lovely touch when she had the kitchen split the plates for us, making the presentation as wonderful as the food. We had the rich and creamy lobster bisque, which was a great starter for a blustery day. The chopped salad was next, with the avocado on the side as requested. It was fresh, crispy and a tasty melody of flavors. Finally the Land and Sea, shrimp was cooked perfectly and delicious, steak was exactly as requested and very tender, the green beans and carrots were cooked al dente and tasty and I will now be making mashed potatoes at home with horseradish - very yummy!

Warm welcome back

Its been a few years since we visited Cold Spring but it was the perfect getaway for some fresh air with the current situation. Sunday Brunch at Hudson House was a great choice. Mimosas on the front porch were a perfect start followed by some cool salads and an unbelievable spinach and cheese omelette. It was good to see they have a variety of outdoor seating options, altho people were also inside to escape the heat. Looks like they made some changes to space things out which was nice to see. Super friendly staff (Ashley was awesome) and the views are killer! Hope to be back soon!

Dinner During Business Visit

Had dinner here with a coworker while visiting West Point. Nice spot with indoor and outdoor dining options. We chose to sit indoors where dining room was spacious and inviting. A basket of bruschetta toast and a bowl of the topping were brought out, for a nice start to our meal. A set menu with 3 courses was offered for $39, and the regular menu and a few specials were also available. I opted for the set menu with arugula and beet salad, crab crusted salmon served with mashed potatoes, carrots and haricots vert, and an apple tartlet with ice cream. Everything was fresh and nicely prepared. The atmosphere was good with music at a moderate volume, making it easy to linger and visit throughout the meal. After a day of traveling to the area and being on the go, it was nice to take in a good meal and not feel rushed.

Go And Be Treated As An Inconvenience

This was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day celebration. They didn’t have our reservation and the host was not nice to my mom and daughter as if we the inconvenienced customers were inconveniencing him. When we were seated 30 minutes later, our waiter Michael not only ignored the hard rock cold signature popovers on our table but all of us throughout the entire meal!!! No water, no check-in on the dishes, no second drink order. Food was not cooked to satisfaction for one meal but we couldn’t send the dish back because Michael didn’t care to ask. This was followed by coffee that tasted a day old. And while desserts were offered for free for the lost reservation, our waiter sought revenge and put ridiculously small portions of cheesecake in our requested to go package. I am disputing the charge on my credit card for an experience well below minimum expectations.

Unfriendly Host

We took our elderly mother for a drive in the country and stopped at this charming town for dinner. Hudson House was conveniently located on a beautiful waterfront in Cold Spring, NY. We liked the historic old building atmosphere and were pleased with our beautiful friendly server even though the unfriendly and stern gentleman host was sending us unwelcoming vibes in the beginning. We enjoyed our filet mignon with Chilean Malbec and found Creme brulee with unmelted sugar pebbles on top a bit at odd with the smooth texture of the creme. Upon leaving, we noticed that a male worker just ignored us as we were finding our way out to the back of the building while mom was struggling with her cane. No greetings, no thank you, no good night. Ok maybe this is going to be the last time we visited this otherwise lovely place. Customer experience could have been stellar because these two male staffers did not make us feel welcome.

Absolutely Awful Experience

Very disappointed. Cold and overcooked entrees, haphazard service. We were totally ignored after an unreasonable amount of time I had to get up and ask if anyone was going to take our food order , much less pour us a glass of water. The Brunch menu is deceiving-listed choice of two cocktails with no price so assumed included with brunch price. Drinks were not included and at a cost of $45.00 for three Bellini, which by the way were awful. We explained to the manager when we got the bill, that the menue was deceiving and unclear it was then the manager told us drinks were unlimited that's why the cost of $15.00. We did not want nor would we have ordered unlimited drinks if someone told us. Waiter did not tell us. No one did and no one cared. Awful food, awful drinks and most of all awful service. Rude manager rude waiter. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Hi there Lois- we appreciate your feedback. We remember your table clearly and wanted to clarify that you ordered the "bottomless" bellini's that we offer for brunch. Unfortunately it does not mean for the entire table it is for each guest. The Brunch menu clearly states on top that Brunch is 28.00 per person (choice of one appetizer and one entree) there is no mention of cocktails being included. As you can see from our past reviews we have a high level of customer satisfaction, we do hope you come and try us again! Cheers

Gem on the Hudson!

A lovely spot! Seating inside and on the deck, with a beautiful view of the riverfront. All the meals were delicious. The chopped salad was fresh, and with the added chicken, SO filling. The lobster roll was filled with yummy lobster; I reccomend the sweet potato fries! Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Couldn't stop eating them! The black Angus burger was huge, juicy and cooked perfectly. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, which really was our fault, is due to the cost of the cocktails. They were tasty and went down very easily; however, there are no prices on the cocktail menu. We didn't ask, which again, was absolutely our error, but were surprised to be charged around $14. Just want to let you know to expect the cost. Again, the drinks were great!

Expensive mediocrity in a beautiful setting

This is one of those frustrating places that’s mediocrity benefits from low competition and a very attractive setting. We drove here for an early dinner as a group of five. For the prices charged, we assumed the service and quality of the food would be high. Unfortunately we were disappointed on both fronts. The maitre d’ was indifferent, and the waitress sullen and rude. She kept trying to clear plates away when half of our party were still eating and we got the check thrust at us as soon as we declined deserts. The reason we declined desert was the extremely mediocre food. The lobster roll had nothing to distinguish it from Heinz mayo slapped on a ciabatta roll - with ‘hunt the two avocado pieces’ - a bland and tasteless affair for over $30. No salad garnish, refinement. The lobster mac’n’ cheese arrived in a tiny ramekin dish. Clearly the chef wasn’t interested in producing flavours. Expensive for a mediocre experience.

Lunch at the Hudson House

It was an unplanned stop for lunch and a little late in the day, but the host was very accommodating. My server was super pleasant and the atmosphere overlooking the water was breathtaking. I recall having the scallop scallop and substituted the blood orange vinaigrette- it was spectacular! And the bread that it was served with was to die for. Will definitely be back! Thanks again for a delightful dining experience.

We met my husband's family for lunch at Hudson House. We sat outside with a shaded umbrella that for the most part kept the sun off. I was disappointed that their brunch menu didn't include more breakfast items but what we had was good. I had the lobster roll with generous portion of lobster. The lobster bisque was appropriately rich. My sister-in-law had the salad and salmon; she doesn't usually eat a lot but she told me that she found the salad to be fresh and flavorful. The prices are reasonable and the service was excellent. Cold Spring is a charming little town.

Lovely Day in Cold Spring

We spent the day in Cold Spring to view the Hudson, walk Main Street and do some antique shopping. As part of the day we visited Hudson House. Craig Sherman as the hotel manager was very accommodating and allowed us to view (escorted) a few room for a future stay. We then decided to have dinner in the restaurant. Our waitress Judy was so pleasant and efficient that she enhanced our dinner experience. The chef did a perfect cooking job with our steak as well as the appetizers and side dishes.

Second visit much better than the first

Two of us went for lunch and I was more impressed with this visit than I was with my first visit which was in 2014. Restaurant was crowded but we were seated immediately and the waiter quickly brought popovers and a flavored butter. My friend asked for regular butter which was quickly brought to the table. Then the waiter disappeared (not so much disappeared since he continued to take orders and serve meals BUT neglected to come around to take our order even though we signaled several times that we were ready to order). My friend got the attention of the hostess who immediately took our order and assigned a waitress to our table. After that everything was fine. We both ordered the chopped salad which was very good. Will definitely come again.

We ate lunch here Saturday 10/24/2020 we all had the vegetable burger, we were expecting the usual veggie patty but were pleasantly surprised. It contained real pieces of vegetables cooked to perfection a lovely bun soft creamy goat cheese and sweet potato fríes. So good. The coffee was n/g bland watery. Staff was friendly courteous our waiter was great. Can’t comment on any other food but the vegetable burger and fries were excellent.

Small portions inedible food way overpriced We were a party of nine.ordered food across the menu from salads soup pasta fish crab cakes and so on.food was not prepared to a good restaurant quality.pasta was inedible. Crab cakes were. Smaller than Swedish meatballs only three, Fish that was given had bad sauce.salad was worse than even diner would serve.

A perfect day out!

My wife and I just got done with our Covid 19 vaccination and felt like treating ourselves with going for brunch out. We picked the Hudson House because we have always enjoyed this restaurant. It important to note that we hadn’t been out to a restaurant in over a year due to Covid. Well we were not disappointed. The food, the service and The whole experience was perfect!
