Wife and I were looking for a nice breakfast/brunch spot on the water, and this beautiful restaurant and bakery did not disappoint. Very nice and professional hosts and waitstaff! Our dishes were beautifully presented (I had a super breakfast burrito and my wife had stuffed french toast). If you are into coffee, I recommend the "Local House"! The view from the covered deck overlooking the river is one of the best in Clayton. Can't wait to visit Bella's again!

Wow! Sitting right at the river’s edge on an August morning with great food and a terrific server is just hard to beat. My wife had cinnamon raisin French Toast and I had a scrambled egg special and everything tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. We came back the next day to grab muffins and coffee to go and that was good too.

We were so lucky to have stopped at Bella’s for breakfast when he vacationed in Clayton! The food was outstandingly. I had an omelet that was made with lots of fresh vegetables, kale and feta. My husband had the corned beef hash that they make fresh every morning—he said it was the best he’s ever had. And their bread baked on the premises was tender and tasty. I highly recommend Bella’s!

Called last week to make reservations for my wifes birthday. The girl that answered said we don't take reservations, then hung up on me before I could say anything else. I emailed to ask for their availability for dinner, No response. Found out on our own Bella's is closed for dinner. Went today for lunch, arrived and sat down at 10:50. Asked for a lunch menu our server said they don't serve lunch until 12:00. Ok, placed our order. A few minutes after 11:00 The table behind us walked in asked for lunch menu and the server gave it to them. Our food comes asked the make server for salt and pepper, that never showed., A female manager or possible an owner I assume Melissa or Isabella comes over to ask how things are and we mentioned that he wanted to order off the lunch menu as we'd heard about their crab cakes. She goes that is not available until 12:00. We mention the table next to us just got a lunch menu, her responds oh yeah that's only since we are running out of breakfast food. What BS, she couldn't of cared less. A good manager would of brought out a crab cake! it's an overpriced tourist trap with terrible customer service, look else where.
Their mission statement is We want you to feel at home if there's anything we can do to make your experience any better please let us now. LOL nope not here!

So I love TripAdvisor because I get the opportunity to respond to reviews that are left. Although I can not with 100% certainty comment on whether or not one of my staff hung up on you, I find that very hard to believe. I personally receive and respond to ALL emails that are sent to Bella’s via gmail or facebook messenger. I have no unanswered emails in my inbox. My website says on the homepage that we are serving Breakfast and Lunch this season, no mention of dinner. We serve breakfast EVERYDAY from 8am till 11:30…sometimes later on weekends as people wake up later and like to ease into the day and have “brunch” so my server saying we don’t serve lunch until 12:00…she is/was 100% correct. At 11:15 I talked to my Host and Hostess and told them I was done with breakfast as we were running out of several menu items and I didn’t want to disappoint guests with not having several things. I don’t have to do this too often, but alas it was a busy morning and I had to call breakfast early. At 11:20, I walked by on the porch overlooking the water and was flagged down by the lady at the table who told me “I needed to talk to the hostess as she gave them incorrect information” I explained to her that breakfast USUALLY goes until at least 11:30…but many times later ESPECIALLY on weekends so we can accommodate all those that are looking for breakfast, and then we have to flip the kitchen for lunch which takes anywhere from 15-20 minutes (a dead time where nothing but soup leaves the kitchen) making it 12:00 noon or sometimes later when the first lunch plate actually leaves the kitchen. The people that were seated behind “behind them” made it clear to the host that they were willing to wait as long as they had to to get lunch, when they showed up at the hostess stand at 11:18….so they were handed lunch menus (minutes after I told the Hostess that we were making the early flip to lunch.) Timing is everything right? I talked to this table at 11:20 and they were COMPLETELY finished with their breakfasts and even had a cup of Lobster Bisque as well….they did tell me that they had hoped to get the crab cake but I explained that that was a Lunch item and that lunch was not yet being served and that although the table behind them had lunch menus they would not have their lunch in front of them for at least another 40 minutes. The table that wanted the crab cake left at 11:30 after paying their bill and the table behind them got their lunch at 11:54. If a Crabcake was what you were after, you could have waited till we were serving the crab cake but you were hungry and we seated you at a beautiful table, at 10:50/10:55 your order was taken and you were fed and done with your meal by 11:20…in and out within 45 minutes on a Saturday in July…..and you were served a breakfast that you clearly (plates were clean) enjoyed….so I’m not sure what more I needed to do….you could have come back at 3:00 for a late lunch as you had a late breakfast, but asking me to serve you a menu item from the Lunch Menu when we were on Breakfast is not something I can or would or will do. That’s not poor customer service that is pushing your expectations onto me. You had the choice to eat breakfast at 10:50….or wait till noon for lunch. You made your decision.

Bella’s is the perfect place to get breakfast or brunch on the Seaway
Outdoor dining on the river
Charming touches welcome guests such as colorful cloth tablecloths, floral bouquets & blankets at each table for cool mornings
The staff is very friendly upbeat & knowledgable plus… THE FOOD is imaginative & fabulous. We double dare you to walk by the baked goods counter on your way out without taking a bag of goodies! The cookies are spectacular & the fresh baked bread looks & smells very alluring. Our second visit and we so very much enjoy this homey clean atmosphere & the great food!

Before the pandemic we frequented Bella’s was one of our favorite places to eat while in Clayton…but never again after my experience on Monday, July 4th. I ordered the ABC Panini and the Boathouse beet salad to go, after I placed the order I was told it would be 20-25 minutes, 45 minutes later my order was ready. When I got down to the pavilion I discovered that I didn’t get the beet salad but a garden salad…now at this point I’m frustrated, I head back down to Bella’s to return the garden salad and get a refund. The manager took my slip and said he would take care of it. Now, I wait another 5 minutes for him to refund my cc the garden salad…at this point it is 66 minutes from when the original order was placed. He then tells me, “that this is what happens when people sneak through the back door”, I walked through the main door and placed my order. When I told him I was frustrated because it had now been over an hour and I still had not eaten the sandwich he said, “I’m frustrated too.” Nice customer service buddy. The size of the garden salad was very small for $7.00, the ABC sandwich was good.

It was a beautiful day and a great trip from Syracuse. Sat out on the deck. The ribeye sandwich with garden salad was the best I have ever had out anywhere and that is saying a lot. The pasta salad was also great. The lobster salad on deviled eggs was enjoyed by everyone as was the veggie salad that had such a beautiful presentation. Wait staff was charming.

Our family visited Bella’s as it is consistently exceptional in so many ways. We were served by Quinn who promptly obtained drink orders and our food orders. We were subsequently offered another seat closer to the river with less sun which was phenomenal, and added to our overall experience. My wife had the grilled cheese with cheddar-cheese bread and was in heaven, while my daughter had the regular grilled cheese with no complaints. While my son was pleased with the taste of the chicken panini with tomato he found it difficult to eat as it was a full uncut thigh. My wife’s cousin and I both had the Shrimp Bowls, which were full of the five promised large grilled shrimp, beans, cilantro, rice, and guacamole, only possibly to be improved by having the shrimp battered and fried (not an option—yet). Also the lobster bisque was great. Again, a big thank you to Quinn for exceptional service and Bella’s for great food with family!

Spent a lot if money on lunch at this overpriced bistro. Staff nice and friendly and service is good, but 15 dollars for a grlled cheese sandwich and $15 for a small on the bland side burger that didn't fit the large bun was not worth the money. Nice waterside seating but food just ok for the high price.

Our summer on the river had come to an end and we thought our last lunch should be with a River view. The staff was very conscious of social distancing and all wore their masks properly. We sat outside because we had our dogs with us. We love that there are so many restaurants in Clayton that are dog friendly. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We ordered a chicken avocado BLT, a lobster roll, a chicken mushroom panini and a turkey cranberry panini. Everything was excellent. It was a wonderful last lunch for our summer at the River. My son was "mad" that we waited until our last day to dine at Bella's. We look forward to next year's visits.

As always, Bella’s is AWEsome. Clayton is only three hours from home, so hopping in the car at a certain time to get there for lunch is a no brainer. Hey, it’s The River, it’s worth it. The lobster roll was delish and my husbands turkey panini looked like the day after Thanksgiving. And regardless of the time, splurge and have a Bloody Mary. Our waitress (Brenna) was one of the most efficient and effervescent people that we have dealt with since COVID hit. In the years that we have been going to Bella’s it has been consistently excellent.

The Mrs. and I stopped in for lunch on 8/10/20. We took advantage of the outdoor seating, a nice view of the river and a shady spot on a very hot day. My wife ordered a meatball parm torpedo that she liked very much, the meatballs were a great texture and tasty. I got a Roast Beef panini with greens that was also very good. They also were the only place open at 3pm. We would definitely recommend Bella's to any traveler to Clayton.

We had a delicious breakfast at Bella's. The Banana Bread French Toast was my favorite breakfast (out of four) during our stay in Clayton. The banana bread was served with fresh banana slices and candied walnuts. It was like having dessert for breakfast! Dining outside on the covered deck with a view was a bonus until halfway through our meal we were bombarded by some very aggressive bees. We had to move because they were so annoying, and they followed us. Yet, we didn't let that spoil our delicious breakfast. Dining at Bella's is all about quality.

A hot spot located right on the majestic St Lawrence with views of Calumet. This innovative and delicious restaurant draws you inside with the promise of a culinary treat. The baked goods displayed at the front door are a tantalizing tease of what's to come. Fresh ingredients and attentive wait staff all aim to please. Something for everyone. Dine inside or sit out on the patio and take in the fresh air and views.
Bring some treats home to extend the experience!
Clayton has to be one of the #1 small town USA Villages and Bella's is in the midst.

This restaurant was recommended by some locals and it did not disappoint. The outdoor view and service were equally outstanding. The breakfast was delicious (breakfast sandwich and corned beef with hash). If you're in Clayton, you should have breakfast here at least once.
