You can eat on a period porch in a wicker chair above the lake or in a cavernous dining room. Servers are students. American foods. Breakfast buffet with omlet station. Buffets and menu selections at lunch and dinner. Tapas available before 6 and late night

I will say this: the prices for many dishes are rather high. Allow me to recommend this approach to your meal: stick with the appetizers. You can get a filling variety for reasonable prices. My date and I shared the following: mussels (good), salad (fresh), some item I can't remember, and the lobster bisque -- which was an absolute foodgasm.... More

We ate several breakfasts there (included with the room rate) and enjoyed the variety, particularly the fresh fruit, yogurt, fresh omelets, and variety of hot cereals. In good weather, breakfast out on the porch overlooking Lake Chautauqua is very pleasant and serene. Lunch with soup and salad was excellent (served buffet style). We had dinner one evening (again on the... More

I ate here four tunes during my two week stay. Everything was fresh and lovely. Excellent soups, salads and wines in particular. My favorite place to eat on the Institution grounds.

We had several really good breakfasts and also a couple of okay dinners on our recent trip. The steamed lobster tails and crab cakes were excellent. There are not a lot of restaurant options at Chautaqua, the Heirloom Restaurant is one of the better places to eat.

My wife and I stayed at the Athenaeum Hotel on a Saturday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I was lucky enough to book a room as part of a package which included a 3 course dinner for two at the Heirloom (which is right inside the hotel) as well as breakfast and brunch Sunday morning. If not for this... More

This is not the location for gourmet food but they do serve good food with very good service. The very large main room can be rather noisy but that is to be expected in this lovely wood floored high ceiling space. The food is serviceable and geared for an older less adventurous audience - they do the best they can... More

We had dinner on the deck over looking The Lake and had courteous service and good food. My Maine Lobster tail was perfect and a treat since I live on the west coast. My husbands scallops were not the best he's ever had but good. Friends had delicious fresh trout and a veal shepherds pie. Yummy ice cram desert, nice... More

My wife and I had Sunday brunch for the first time in five years of coming to CHQ. Brunch is $39.95 per person, not including tip. The offerings are what you'd expect from a small town country club that's struggling. First, the positives: grand porch overlooks the lake, an historic view(worth something), pleasant, albeit inattentive service, most tables are in... More

I'm so sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience at our restaurant! We do have a seasonal staff that we spend a lot of time training and getting ready for our very intense and busy nine-week season. We will strive to be better! We also hope that you don't judge your entire Chautauqua stay by this one bad experience at... More
