A great place to make an impression - especially at sunset. We ate on a large patio with built-in heaters, so on a cool (but not cold) evening it was very comfortable. Food was good - I had the scallops and they were good, but...felt like they needed a little more flavor, a tad bland. My husband liked what he had salmon and really liked it. They seemed to be understaffed that evening (Sunday) so service was not what we would have expected, but the wait staff that were there were very nice. Prices are definitely not cheap but the view is amazing.More

It is no secret that we LOVE dining at Bristol Harbour . This is our "neighborhood place". This past Saturday's dinner was as PERFECT as ever. We were celebrating with our good friends as their daughter accepted a new position in Europe. The very personable...& friendly owners sent over Prosecco for the table with their best wishes--what a nice touch. We enjoyed crisp salads, excellent snapper, shrimp & hanger steak & of course burgers for a few others in our party. Everything was excellent ...great service & the beautiful setting made for a PERFECT evening!More

Our dinner was the best of our 10-day vacation in upstate New York and Ontario. We shared a delicious starter, Fried Calamari with a savory aioli. Our main dishes were Stockyard Steak with a delicious reduction sauce and huge Scallops seared to perfection, in which...the flavor of the shellfish came through clearly without being masked by other ingredients. Our desserts were the fresh berry shortcake (not overly sugared) and Molten Lava Cake, a chocolate creation with a not-too-sweet ice cream. In the wine department we loved the Doctor Frank dry riesling. The beer department failed: they were out of two craft beers on their very short list, and when I ordered a Kölsch, it was served in a brim-full snifter, and it was completely flat, without any trace of a head.More

Ate here during a recent golf tournament. Food was so,so and service was lousy. Staff lack motivation, probably due in part to no cash policy which undoubtably impacts tipping.

My husband and I ate here twice for dinner during our stay at the Bristol Harbour resort. Our meals were outstanding, as was the service. We tried the steak, papardelle pasta with shrimp dinner and the risotto meals. All were amazing. We finished it off...with creme brulee, which was also delicious. I highly recommend eating here. The grounds and views are amazing! The very best in the Finger Lakes region.More

We went to dinner at Bristol Harbour on Saturday, July 20th. The setting and the views are spectacular. Definitely worth a stop for a drink, to sit in an Adirondack chair, and to take in the beauty of the area. We sat inside as the...temps that day were nearing 100. There were 2 wedding receptions going on, so it was very noisy, and we had a hard time hearing one another, albeit only 6 of us. When the waiter came, we asked for 3 separate checks, and were told they would not do that. It would be 1 bill and we could split it 3 ways for payment. What?!??!? I asked if this was the establishment policy, or was his decision. He said it was policy, And, oh, by the way, they don't take cash, so make sure you bring a credit card. When the bill came, we divided it 3 ways, paid with credit cards, and that was that. When we got home, one of the couples realized we were EACH charged the full amount for the tax. When we called, Bristol Harbour acknowledged a 'glitch in the system' with that, but someone would call back about it. They were again reminded that if we were each allowed to have separate checks, this would not have happened. We have yet to see how this will be resolved, but we should not be dealing with this at all. Other aspects of the dinner - food was good, not outstanding, but good. Service was mediocre - no one was around filling our water glasses or keeping an eye on us. All in all, the restaurant experience was disappointing. Management needs to take a long hard look at their customer service.More

We have been coming to this restaurant for years and always enjoyed it as one of our local restaurants. My group of friends , 5 of us dropped in for dinner on Sunday of July 4th weekend. We were unaware that Bristol harbor was under...new ownership. As soon as we approached the hostess station we were shocked at the response we received as we said we would like a table for 5. We were informed that this was a “reservation only” establishment . And then reluctantly told however they will seat us. Hmmmm we thought that was rather rude. We were seated and told that they have a no cash policy- I noticed a written tablet on the bar that also stated no cash tipping. That explained why the bar was empty- in the past it would have been full of golfers enjoying a drink after their games. Our wait staff was very attentive - no complaints about them. Our meals were below average- my dinner was tasteless. When it came time to pay our bill we each pulled out our credit card to pay - at that point we were told that they could only take 4 credit cards per table. I gave cash for my dinner to my friend so she could put both of our bills on her card so that we would only have 4 credit cards at our table - however we were then told that each of the credit cards would have to have the same amount of money charged !!!!! Ridiculous!!! I have never experienced this in a restaurant !!! I don’t think they will be in business much longer, once the long winter returns I am confident that the local people in Canandaigua will not support this nonsense and they won't survive. The view and scenery was as always beautifulMore
