We had a fabulous dinner here. During Covid, indoor dining in NY is banned but San Gennaro had a comfortable covered patio that was heated. We got a corner table and enjoyed a night of fine dining that almost felt normal did 2020. We ordered...a bottle of wine and started with a few appetizers to share -the fried artichoke, burrata with prosciutto and baked clams. Our main entrees were linguini with white clam sauce, gnocchi with Sunday sauce, Veal Sorrentino, and linguini with chicken. We all enjoyed our meals. Sadly we were too full for dessert.More
We had an idea of a few restaurants before we went. Tried to get into some of them, a long wait. Dominick's staff were rude so we moved on. San Gennaro staff couldn't have been more pleasant. Really cute front porch. Excellent service. I recommend...the grilled cheese & tomato soup which my niece loved. Eggplant farm & sole w/ lemon & crispy potatoes also excellent.More

Thanks you for coming again and we don't transport you in Italy!!!!!!! When you come here you are in ITALY 🇮🇹 😍
My wife & I went on a Monday eve to enjoy the bakery smells & stores of Arthur Ave.
We went back to this restaurant as the owner was very polite and food was delicious.
My wife and I were not disappointed. Food was outstanding...and the owner served us.
Always smiling and friendly and genuine/ not a phony.
We will be back as it was just a great experience overall!More
On the midst of an Pandemic they found the way to have a bit of sunshine to bright people’s palates, it helped we had a perfect weather day and the seats they set up outside to comply with city mandate were clean and with many...touches of colors.
My daughter and I very much enjoyed our lunch here. Located diagonally across from the Italian market, this intimate spot has tables indoors and in the covered entry; I’d recommend the indoor seats. There’s plenty of street parking if you can’t get a spot in...a lot. If you don’t mind walking a few blocks, parking is free. We could have eaten an entire basket of the bread and the herb-infused olive oil; outstanding quality and flavor. We shared the chicken parm and gnocchi ragu. Both were delicious- the sauce, the cheese, the al dente perfection!! My mouth is watering as I write. Service was friendly and entertaining. $40 lunch with no drinks. We’d return and recommend.More
My family and I went here for Christmas dinner. We didn't know what to expect since we had never been here before. We were hoping for the best and we got the best! From start to finish, my family and I enjoyed everything. Our server...had a great sense of humor and was very accommodating. The owner/chef came around regularly to check on us. Thank you to San Gennaro for providing a delicious Christmas dinner with outstanding service! We hope to be back again soon!More
We, a party of two wanted to visit Arthur Avenue and eat in one of the italian restaurants. We had yelped and planned to eat in a different restaurant but looking at that, we didn't go into that. We looked at this and decided to...give it a try.
An we are glad that we did. It was a very hot day on Friday at lunchtime. Though the food was fantastic, I am sad to say we were the only two during the lunchtime. May be they do better busuness other times.
I ordered sardines as an appetizer. and gnocchi in pesto sauce with shrimp. My wife ordered eggplant parmigiana. We also ordered an iced tea and a beer, peroni is the only one they have.
About the sardines. It is the best I ever had. I had them in Lisbon, and they compare very well. I had sardine in another NYC restaurant but that can't hold a candle to this.
Gnocchi in pesto sauce was amazing and my wife's eggplant parmigiana was good too. We had a side of broccoli rabe and that was extra-ordinary.
The service is very friendly and I highly recommend this. It is a small restaurant on Arthur Ave and I will visit again only if it wasn't so far away from me.More
