About
Chateau on the Lake is located in upstate New York on Lake George, and is more than a dining establishment -- it's an experience. Our clients visit our property for at least 3 hours, select from our wine list, sit by the fire pit, savor a three to four course meal, and end their evening with coffee/after dinner drinks by the fire pit while roasting s'mores. Chateau on the Lake has been open since 2013, and we have quickly became a popular establishment, sold to capacity night after night. We are a great place to book your wedding. A memorable time is assured when you visit Chateau on the Lake. We hope to see you soon. We also now offer rooms that can be rented nightly. The rooms are located above the restaurant. They are luxury rooms. $500 - $1,200 per night.

My friend and I made a reservation at this restaurant. We ordered the seafood tower, which we shared. It came with oysters, tuna, shrimp, king crab legs, alaskan king crab legs, 2 lobster tails AMAZING, we paid market price with was $99, They had indoor and outdoor seating, Staff was friendly . For dessert we tried the donut bar which was recommended by our waiter, also AMAZING. The decor and location made this a great experience. a little on the pricey side by worth it.

My wife and I heard about this place from the hotel shuttle driver. We stopped by around lunch time while walking through town and were told there were no reservations available that night. Fortunately, the rain in the forecast held back the masses and we were able to walk-in for a dinner after wine tasting down the road. We were seated immediately at a 'lakeside' table - the best table in the house (in my view). Our server and busers were attentive and cordial throughout the night. My wife and I ordered the lamb and halibut for dinner but I have to say the carpaccio appetizer was the winner of the night. This is a beautiful property with character. We can't wait to go back and sit indoors! Try to hit up this spot if you are in or around Bolton Landing!

Our dinner here was the highlight of our time at Lake George - no question. The food was off the charts, excellent wine selection, and they have truly made the best of the situation all restaurants are dealing with during COVID - the outdoor space has amazing ambiance and the staff takes safety seriously while still being nice and attentive. Our server Kim was so kind and welcoming and you could tell how much she really loved the Lake George area. The manager and bartender were also so kind. The chateau is our number one recommendation for people visiting the area. (A side note to folks like us coming up from Manhattan or other similar places - EMBRACE ‘lake time’ and recognize you’re not in The City anymore. We overheard some other diners complaining about the service and pace of the dinner and we’re shocked as everyone was so kind and doing the most to take of everyone safely while having a memorable time. Remember that everyone could use a little extra kindness and patience right now...and we can all use more lake life)

My daughter, 2 cousins and myself were very excited to go for drinks at Chateau on the Lake after watching the show, Summer Rush. Upon arriving, we were impressed by the beautiful outdoor space, pretty lights and candles, fire pits and casual Adirondack chairs to enjoy a drink with family with a nice view of the lake. We immediately met Jen (the owner) at the hostess stand who we recognized from the show and had a quick conversation with her about the show and how excited we were to be there. We were seated at 4 Adirondack chairs and a waitress whose name I do not know, took our order and credit card. It was obvious that she either didn’t like her job or was not interested in serving people who were just ordering drinks. She spoke in a rude manner that we all took notice of. After 40 minutes, still no drinks arrived. At this point we were not enjoying our experience there, got up and asked for our credit card back to which the waitress said sorry that she hadn’t gotten a chance to order the drinks at the bar yet. We took our credit card and left. Obviously we will not return there or recommend it to others. We went to the Sagamore two nights earlier for drinks and had a wonderful experience...beautiful landscape, view of lake, friendly service and delicious drinks! That is where I will be spending an evening with family during our yearly summer Lake George vacation, not at Chateau. Sorry Chateau, we really looked forward to experiencing the Chateau but left very disappointed.

Our experience last night was nothing like what we saw on the Food Network’s Summer Rush. We knew we were in trouble when they tried to seat up at a small round card table with two cheap plastic chairs. I am 6 ft 1 and I looked ridiculous hunched over this table. They moved us to an adult table immediately. Once settled, they brought over two small pieces of white bread ( obviously not homemade). Thankfully it came with cinnamon butter which made the bread eatable. It took literally 50 minutes to get out appetizer. We had to wonder was this on purpose to increase our bar bill since we were asked four times if we wanted another drink. FINALLY, our charcuterie board came out. Again, it came with four tiny garlic crostini’s. It was good, not great....maybe some olives and olive oil? Our entrees were so disappointing. My wife’s surf and turf came with cold truffle potatoes and stringy broccolini. Everything needed salt which was not supplied to us. My pan seared halibut looked great but again lacked any seasoning. Hey chief...did you lose your spice rack? We hoped that dessert would savage things. It didn’t. With only three choices ( yes three), our waitress suggested the chocolate cake. What we got was the smallest piece of chocolate cake that I have ever seen. It was laughable. How could this have left the kitchen?? We were so disappointed especially since we were celebrating the fact that wife would soon be retiring. Oh well...it may be Manhattan prices but it was certainly not Manhattan cuisine.

Terrible experience on Father’s Day. 1 cook was the excuse for a 65 minute wait for 3 burgers, 2 salads and chicken tenders. They said “we didn’t expect so many people.” My family was stunned considering it was a holiday and it was beautiful out. No Bloody Mary mix, then second drink of a Moscow mule couldn’t be made because they were missing ginger beer. The owner spent 1.5 hours fixing flowers in an empty dining room with a sour puss on her face. She never touched a table to offer an apology for the lengthy wait. Food was above average and the ambience is great.

This was a tough review for me. I always look for the best in a restaurant. Let me start by saying the food was excellent and the ambiance amazing. The service however was horrible and the portions left you leaving hungry. I never mind paying a premium for great food and service. I do mind paying that premium for a lack of both and leaving hungry. Four of us had steaks and no one asked if they were cooked correctly. Only one was cooked properly and the other three were over cooked. The waitress barely came over and forgot things we ordered. It was impossible to get additional drinks. We all would have had after dinner drinks but couldn't get the waitress until it was to late. This was not because of a lack of staff as they had plenty of people working. I was so disappointed as this place has the potential to be amazing with better service, attention to detail, and portions that don't leave you hungry after spending $600.

Had very high expectations for this meal. It was overpriced, very slim menu, the quality was mediocre, and unfortunately, the service was scrambled and not good. My steak came out cold, the mashed potatoes were lumpy and cold as well. I'm also not sure if anybody has noticed, but the kitchen is essentially open air and is right across from both bathrooms. Lastly, many, many times throughout the night, we had to ask for more water--if you're paying $55 for an entree, I expect that my water glass is never empty. For the price point and quality, this restaurant is not worth it.

Made a reservation for Boyfriend’s birthday. The place is really nice and beautiful. Love the little pathway of lighted candles when you walk out to the outside tables, the views, the decor. However i feel they need to step up their service. The girl who was taking care of us wasn’t sure about what kind of beers they had. I feel my halibut needed a bit more salt which I couldn’t find at the table nor my waiter to bring it. My bf had to send back the steak bc it wasn’t cooked how we asked so I finished eating while waiting for his food. It was a bit chilly but we wanted to eat outside and with a baby we needed to be as close to the heaters as possible. Lucky for us one of the other workers noticed we were still cold so he asked if we wanted the heater higher and of course we said yes. That helped a lot! Thanks again!! I feel for the money you pay food and service needs to be on point. Maybe bc it was a Thursday night they didn’t have the best staff idk I’ll give the benefit of the doubt.

At the end of a small alleyway, one comes to an unimposing building for a complete dining experience. Even in this time of COVID-19, The Chateau on the Lake pulls out all stoppers to give you an evening of dining and service you will long remember. The restaurant is set in an old home with dining indoors, on the porch, and the lawn with a wonderful view of Lake George. From the moment of arrival, having been greeted by Nicole, and Mark to the bus boy serving our table to our waiter, Fred and the additional staff – the owner or manager and Giulia, other wait staff who stopped by the table to say hello to the moment we said goodnight, we were treated with extraordinary service. The jewel in the crown of the evening was the cuisine. We had ordered the soup of the day (carrot), spring salad, steak, and swordfish. Each delicious dish was presented elegantly yet without pretense. Do not forget to order the Summer Rush cocktail. HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Chateau on the Lake during your visit to Lake George!

This is the second year we've come to the Chateau. The clams were once again the standout of the night, ask for a spoon, trust me. The mini fondue was lame, it was a half a baguette and some melted cheese with some Melba drizzled over it. I think last year it had some sort of pastry with it that was much cooler. For entrees my date had the elk special which was amazing. I had the halibut which was so-so. It was dry, not sure if there just wasn't enough sauce or if it was overcooked? Probably a little of both. The mint sauce on it was one of the best tasting things of the night though. Our servers were great, they tried real hard, but I don't think I would visit again if it's going to rain. We were seated on the lawn before the rain started, they did bring us some of these sun umbrellas, but they were only so useful and eventually it was coming down hard and they said they were out of seats under the bigger tents. My date insisted it was an adventure, but by the end I was soggy and cold. We decided to take our dessert to-go and eat in the car where it was warm and dry. I know they can't control the weather, but I kinda feel like a chump "sticking it out" on the lawn like that for a $200 dinner...

We had an 8:15 reservation with another couple to celebrate our anniversaries. We had a drink at the bar before being seated. Highly recommend the Chateau signature drink. Bartenders were extremely busy but still attentive. Owners have done a great job to maximize their dining space while following social distancing rules. Staff members all in masks or face shield were very attentive. For starters we went with the calamari and the charcuterie board. The calamari was amazing as was the charcuterie board. Adam, our waiter, was quick to respond to our request for additional crostini. Two in our party ordered the surf and turf and two ordered the steak. The meat was unbelievably tender and perfectly cooked to each of our specifications. Incredible bearnaise sauce. Meat and mashed potatoes perfectly seasoned. For dessert we had flourless chocolate torte, lemon cake with champagne soaked strawberries and the creme brulee. All 3 out of this world. After dinner we sat by the lake and had a drink. The lighting, the stars, the lake.... a perfect end to the night. Yes, it's expensive so not something you might do once a week. But an extraordinary experience that was well worth it.

WOW. My family and I have been visiting the Lake George area every summer for over 25 years. We’re always looking for someplace different to eat for a change, and after getting a peek into Chateau on the Lake on the Food Network earlier this year, we couldn’t believe we hadn’t tried it already. We made reservations way in advance and it was to be our “special” meal of the vacation. We were not disappointed for one second. Every morsel of food was beyond fantastic. The charcuterie board was worth every penny. We had to get the graham cracker calamari just to see what it was all about and we all agreed it was the best calamari we’ve ever had. The entree menu is short and sweet and even with only around 10 choices many of us had a hard time picking as they all sounded to die for. The mushroom ravioli literally made me cry that’s how good it was. The chef’s cut was the most tender steak I’ve ever had. And the meal didn’t end there. We ordered their donut bar for dessert as well as the special donut bar that night, which was booze-infused. Fun and delicious. Their sugar cookies were mouth-watering. As we were finishing our meal, the owner Buddy and his wife came over to ask us how everything was and our whole table couldn’t stop raving about the experience. You must check this place out if you’re in the Lake George area and want a special experience!!! 10 stars!!!

Chateau on the Lake is a must go when visting Lake George. The ambiance is charming and the food is 5-stars. Be sure to order the graham cracker calamari and cheesw fondue appetizer. The chef's cut NY Strip Steaks with truffled mash were phenomial. The maple creme brulee and donut desserts were fun and delicious. What a delight!

A member of the staff at our hotel highly recommended this place when I asked where to go for something really special with a couple of my closest friends both of whom have been through some very tough times with the current pandemic. She said this place has it all, the great food, the views, the atmosphere. I must say, she certainly got it right!! The Chateau on the Lake is set on a beautiful spot right on the lake but with enough room, like a lawn, to have some Adirondack chairs and a couple of fire pits. The string of lights made it all the more beautiful. As for our dinner, we each tried different entrees (truffle mushroom ravioli, swordfish, red snapper) and each dish was very well made we couldn’t decide which one was our favorite! Service was prompt and very courteous which made the whole experience truly wonderful.
