What a great pub - cosy, welcoming, very comfortable seating. For a Monday night the choice of food was exceptional. Would have no hesitation in returning.

We arrived on spec just before 6pm to be greeted with a sign on the door "Private function tonight, kitchen closed". We went in to ask if there was another pub locally where we could have a meal. The kitchen was opened especially for us with apology that we would be slightly rushed as the function was due to start... More

We had booked a table for lunch en route to Waddesden House and were asked if we minded a slightly later time than origobnally requested as they had a large party in ahead of us and didn't want to clog up their kitchen. No problem to us as we could relax in the bar withm a glass or two, including... More

Black Boy Oving In the 15 years we have been in the Village we have seen a number of tenants try to make a go of the Black Boy. At last we seem to have struck oil! As well as good food they’ve finally made it into the Good Beer guide with well kept & interesting ale. We attended the... More

We've tried this pub several times under the new owner's as we live in the village. Unfortunately attention to detail isn't high on their list of priorities, there's always something wrong. If it's not the dry corn on the cob, it's the grey avocado or soft batter on the fish, there's always something. I keep going back to give them... More

This was the Black Boys first Beaujolais Nouveau evening under the new management of Paul Mitchell. The food was amazing and the Beaujolais very palatable. The staff were friendly giving an excellent service. Overall it was a great experience. Graham and Anne Rogers

Wonderful 17th centuary inn with a very good restaurant, but a stunning view from your table across the Buckinghamshire countryside from Whitchurch to Beyond Silverstone. Take your binoculers it will be worth it. There is a free pair to use hanging at the bar if you forget. This must rival any restaurant view in the country and so near Milton... More

This was our first time here and received a great welcome. The menu was extensive and we had two lovely meals of rib eye steak and pork belly. The food was cooked well, tasted great and was served with a good selection of veg. Overall a good experience and will try again.

I have been going to this pub/restaurant for many years and it has changed hands so many times over the years. I have eaten here twice in the last few months and the food and service is really excellent. People say it maybe pricey but to me it's the same price as all good village pubs. I had mussels and... Fancied a spot of lunch with my daughter and decided we would try the black boy. What a good decision. Firstly the pub is located in beautiful surroundings , on arrival the pub was fairly busy but we were greeted with a warm, friendly welcome by the staff, our drinks were served quickly and we were shown to our table,...
