An interesting looking pub from the outside, but has quite got the country pub décor that you would expect although it was very popular with the locals. On a sunny day the garden would be the place to eat with incredible views of the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed our lunch of a sharing platter which was very tasty accompanied by... More

More than pub grub but not quite fine dining. Excellent pub, great location, very good food and friendly staff with a good selection of beers to boot. All in all could not fault it.

Excellent food especially the Cornish sardines (filleted) and the pork chop. Staff fast friendly and good advice about the specials. Lovely views down the vale and pleasant atmosphere. My wife was especially impressed with the gin menu.

Thank you to everyone at The Black Boy for making all our visits recently so enjoyable. Lovely food wonderful service and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Long may it continue. We were delighted to see the new varieties of gin you have, we will hopefully be sampling soon. Thank you again. Averil Wilkinson M.B.E.

The staff at the Black Boy are cheerful, friendly and efficient too: qualities that don't always go together. The amount of choice on the menu was a little bit of a worry - it sometimes suggests too many things and none of them done well - but between four of us we had three different starters and three different main... We were lucky with the weather and were able to sit outside. The garden he an amazing view and the pub had binoculars you can borrow that the kids used to look out over the horizon. Delicious Malbec to go with a very tasty roast beef, the only think that let it down were the roast potatoes, one of mine... More

Me and my partner came to The Black Boy for dinner for the first time. It was Sunday evening. We sat in the garden as restaurant was busy. After ordering drinks we were offered table inside. That was bit of luck. We had a starter, main and pudding. Food was soo tasty. We will definitely be back.

We have wanted to eat at The Black Boy for a while now, having eaten at most of the restaurants and pubs in the area. We live in a neighbouring village about 7 miles away. The pub itself is quaint and classic and from the outside, very inviting. My partner, son and I arrived yesterday evening at 7.50 and went to... More
