We thought we would try the pub as we had an event to attend in the village. We were rewarded with a delicious main course. Followed by equally lovely pudding, accompanied by great coffee. The portions were just right. Served in reasonable amount of time by helpful staff. Amazing to have no complaints!

Old village pub in delightful setting. Views from back garden lovely. Good looking menu. Visited two years ago, drink prices seemed a bit high

Mostly good. But sometimes the food has been a bit of a let down, not always but sometimes. Staff generally friendly and helpful.

Reasonable selection of food and what we had was good. However the pub lacked atmosphere and not really welcoming. Although we said on arrival we had booked we had to ask a couple of times before we were shown to our table. Service was not great. The bottle of wine we had ordered was just plonked on the table. As... More

This was our third visit to this beautiful pub and the quality and service has been every bit as good as the last ! Thank you to you all,... More

Lovely meal in a delightful pub (best to book, particularly at busy times e.g. Sunday). Friendly helpful staff. Good menu, although a number of items had sold out. Portion size medium, average pub food price. Good location, car park full but room on the road. Dogs welcome, no restrictions.

We enjoyed our visit very much. Attentive staff and a good varied menu. We were a large group and all dishes ordered were of a hood standard. GF meals were readily available. It was a bit draughty where we were seated (near the kitchen) but most tables looked cosy. Good ambience.

Been to Black Boy many times over the years, current owners are a great improvement and after our last visit about 2 months ago when we had excellent Sunday roasts and value for money we returned again yesterday with friends. Whilst the roasts were good the portion size of vegetables were little more than garnish for the meat or fish.... More

Went here with my sister and her husband who live in the area. I wasnt expecting too much and first appearances were mixed. The building itself is a fairly typical period Brit pub which on the outside looks really old (it is..1524) and in need of some TLC but in reality it simply reflects the construction of the time -... I've had food here many times over the last year & hoped it was going to get better but sadly it only gets worse. The food is below average which is a shame for a nice pub.
