This was our favorite breakfast place. However, we will never go again. The service was very poor. From the time we walked in, it took about an hour to get our breakfast with no explanation. The place was not even busy. Not even half the tables were full. Our waitress seemed to be angry about something and she took it... More

Great little diner. You will never leave hungry. Lots of great food for a reasonable price. Stop by and check it out!

As a Barneveldian, we used to go here about 3 or 4 times a year...usually when family visited from out of town. I always got hash and rye toast. It's a nice small diner and the rye toast is really good. I drive by every day, but won't be going back as the owners have now put a political sign... More

Drive into the Village of Barneveld; keep your eyes peeled once you reach downtown, because if you blink you will miss it. If you don't blink, you will see a small handmade sign that says simply: "Sweet Basil." This a downhome, basic as you get, quality breakfast spot. It is a local favorite and on the weekends you may have... More

Best breakfast at the most modest prices. People on here complain about bottled water. Dont drink water, get a arnold palmer (AMAZING)! Everything tastes amazing, esp the lunches. Cant beat it for the prices

I had heard nothing but great things about this place from many people. Then I read some Trip Advisor reviews about not being able to get free tap water (is this legal?). It does not affect me because I hate water; but never the less my opinion was tainted before I even arrived. Then I thought I had been told... More

OK, I'll try to be objective here and let the reader decide what's important to him/her. The food is excellent. Homemade bread, thick and hearty. The biggest, fluffiest, thickest pancakes I've ever seen. Nice egg/toast/hash browns breakfast special. The service is fine, servers competent and friendly. But it's hard for me to get past the water thing. They will not... More

So we ordered waters to save a few bucks and paid a buck fifty x 2 for Rite Aid bottled water. For that price I would have ordered a couple of coffees instead but it was too late when they served the water already in the glass and the bottle left beside it. Had they not cracked the bottle open... More

If you are passing through or near Barneveld, this is a great stop. Breakfasts are standard but good. Try the Mappa Muffin. Soups are consistently good. BLTs outstanding. Thick bacon and thick bread..toasted. if you each get a soup and split the sandwich you will be happy. One downside, they sell bottled water, say no tap water but you may... More

Great breakfasts espocially the omelets, home fries and homemade bread toast. Lunches are very good food and a good value. Open Friday evenings for a very popular fish fry. Decor features a rural Adirondack style with a focus on local history. Service is exceptional. Truly a great American diner!
