We were celebrating an important family birthday. Dritan and Ranka made us feel very welcome. They have been very successful in creating a relaxed, intimate atmosphere within the restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Every detail was attended to with a complimentary gift for the birthday guest, who was celebrating her 90th year, and a surprise cake. The... More

I couldn't have asked for a better 50th birthday celebration. A perfect setting in which fifteen friends enjoyed a specially designed tasting menu with wine pairing. Combined with impeccable service and friendliness, it made for a truly memorable occasion. The Chequers Inn is a really high quality restaurant run by an amazing couple. Bravo! Canapés Halibut, pea and lemon, pickled... More

Used to be a lovely little place back in the day but they've got a bit of an identity crisis now it would seem. Wall hangings which feature old pub games like backgammon and draughts but when you try and play a quiet game of crib (i.e a traditional pub game) in the same bar area (nowhere near the restaurant)... My wife and i went to the chequers for our anniversary just before Christmas. We had had taster menus before at other Michelin stared restaurants and enjoyed them so decided to do this at the chequers. Even though they do not have Michelin stars it did not disappoint. I would recommend this menu and if you can have the wine... More

On arrival there was confusion regarding our booking, which didn't start the evening off well. Luckily they were able to accommodate us. We went to The Chequers with close friends (party of 4) for our annual Christmas celebration on Saturday 10 December 2016. Whilst the food was very good, the portion sizes were too small for the price. There was... More

What a welcome. On a winter's day to have pre-lunch drinks sitting close to a roaring open fire in the bar area. A very varied menu both set and a la carte, with all meals cooked to order, so food allergies can be accommodated. Everyone in our group were well satisfied with their choice of food and were sated by... More

Had a fantastic meal here today with our family. Service was good and the food was incredible. Portions are not big but quality is high, and you are more than satisfied after the meal. Actually it's lovely not to have that sickly full feeling after a meal out.

Fine dining in a friendly atmosphere. Each dish is beautiful and each and every mouthful is a delightful sensation for the taste buds. Looking forward to our family celebration tasting menu in 2017 - as well as other visits before and after that !

My wife and I met up with a couple of friends who chose the venue primarily because of its location. Having read previous reviews on TA we had high expectations- and I'm delighted to say we were not disappointed. A warm welcome was offered on our arrival and there was an ample selection of beers, wines etc to choose from... More
