Unbelievable. Beautiful eclectic place run by an excellent chef. He greets you He cooks. He serves. He washes up. He’s 78 and this is by far the best dining experience I’ve had in many years. He has cooked for the famous, royalty, and Presidents. It’s...his home and he is fantastic. The food is special. Simple local seasonal ingredients turned into the spectacular. What a man Michel is. If you want something to remember forever then try it.More

All you need in a group of traveling friends is one person who is on top of the research. Our friend found Chef Michel Belcourt’s hideaway on a French food app. Driving into the chateau’s courtyard, we thought we were in the wrong place. Then...the chef emerges with his toque and welcomes us in!! The meal was unforgettable from champagne and appetizers through signature entrees, desserts, and cheeses. He has a storied history, and it was a privilege to dine in his home. Btw—it seemed he had no help! Gorgeous tables in rooms filled with artifacts, photos on the wall of the chef with various luminaries, and wonderful food and wine.More

My husband and myself had two exceptional evenings and dinners at Chateau de Verriere last October with Chef Michel Belcour. The meals included hors d'oeuvres with champagne, Coquilles St. Jacques (as an example), a delicious vinaigrette green salad, a nice selection of regional cheeses, dessert...such Pineapple tart, and of course the perfect wine to accompany the dinner. Chef Belcour was the perfect host. You could not ask for anyone better as both a chef and a person. He was very friendly, accommodating, and informative as far as the dishes he prepared. The restaurant itself is such an amazing place. If you also enjoy antique pieces and paintings, you are in for a treat. My husband and myself (he is American and I am French) highly recommend Chateau de Verriere for dinner (with reservations). You will not be disappointed. Lydie and John T.More

We are a group of 10 traveling through France. We had the good fortune of dining at Chateau de Verriere while touring the Loire area. The chef is semi-retired, and only cooks for one table per night. He prepared a feast for us, paired with...exceptional wines from the area. Everything was delicious and it was evident the chef took great pleasure from our enjoyment of the meal. Our prix fixe menu was only 38 euros, plus wine, an exceptional value for the quality of the food. The restaurant is eclectically decorated; we had fun just looking at all the photos, paintings and other artwork. This was one of the most unique evenings of our trip, one we will always remember. If you are visiting the Loire area I highly recommend an evening at Chateau de Verriere.More

We are ex-patriots, Americans living in France. Since we have always eaten out on Christmas Eve in the US, we were hoping to do the same here in France. We were delighted that Chateau De Verriere was open and accepting reservations. Even though it takes...a little to find it, the chateau does not disappoint. The dining salon is beautiful and the food and presentation is perfection. We especially enjoyed Chef Belcourt - he is amazing and extremely friendly...see for yourself.More

A very original atmosphere like eating inside an old castle. Superb preparation of any dish, tasty and elegant. Good choice of cheese and good wine selection.

We have eaten here a few times now and have not been disappointed by the food or the welcome. The chef/ owner has created a small but delicious menu and concentrates on producing the best food that he can. His chicken speciality is highly recommended!...Because he prefers to have only a few bookings he is able to tell you about his dishes and his many years of running a large restaurant and also about the vast art collection on the walls. Probably not the cheapest restaurant in the area but worth every penny/ cent and I hope to go there again next week!More
