We stopped for a quick takeout - 2 bean burritos a la carts. Took almost half an hour and they charged $16 dollars! Beans tasted like canned beans- no real green or red New Mexico style Chile sauce ( although offered) - tortillas were cheap...store bought gross tasteless kind. I’ve always had best bean burritos in New Mexico. This felt like a giant ripp off. The cashier person was real nice but the rest of the deal was awful .More
This place moved to Date St a long time ago, popular with the locals and a variety of food. We ordered a club sandwich, lots of bread, VERY LITTLE MEAT, slow to get the food served even when it is not busy.
Really needs new paint, furniture, and wall art. Food was OK, the lettuce was not brown in the salad yet, but unimaginative. My burger had mayonnaise, tomato and lettuce leaf on the side, bun and meat- that’s all. The server was nice, but the place...is dowdy. HELP WANTED sign permanently in the window. We can see why. No bus boy. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.More
Stopped for lunch on a Thursday. The parking lot is a little rough and the interior is not as pristine as you would find in a chain restaurant. Had our drinks and chips and salsa within 8 minutes of entering. My wife had the stuffed...sopapillas,and being from outside of Philadelphia, I had the Cheesesteak sandwich. The sopapillas were fresh and flaky with tasty beef and bean filling. The green chile had a nice kick and the entire dish was flavorful. The Cheesesteak was a welcome surprise and did justice to the ones I could get back East. The beef was well seasoned and the roll was both crunchy and soft. Our waitress was attentive and never let our drinks run dry. The wait time for our entrees was 20 minutes from when we ordered until they arrived. I don't think that was too long of a wait considering we both liked the food so much.More
I was worried when we walked in but the service was excellent and the burgers were great. The drinks were enormous.
Went here for dinner with the wife. I had their monster burger and my wife had the combination plate. The burger was huge. It comes dry, so you you have to add your own condiments. The fries were the perfect crispness. My wife really enjoyed...her combination plate. It was also huge, and she ended up eating too much! Great place!More
I have eaten here twice. The service was ok. The food was ok too. Juevos rancheros was ok, but not in the style as prefer. (I like to see and taste the green Chile. Theirs was more like a sauce)
We stopped in here 2 weeks ago to give it a try. We tried their fish basket special. The fish was tender and had crispy batter similar to Long John Silvers. The waitress was friendly. We would eat here again.
I don't usually give "excellent" ratings on restaurants, but this place deserves it. The only reason I didn't give 6 stars, is because it's not offered y Trip Advisor. We had lunch on a Saturday. My wife had the chicken quesadilla and I had the...carne adovada dinner. First off the quesadilla was huge and almost as thick as a regular sandwich. The tortilla shells tasted like home-made and super fresh. The amount of stuffing was enough for a very healthy appetite. Between the salsa, sour cream and guacamole (which was seasoned just right) my wife was able to eat only 3 pieces. The carne adovada was the best I've ever had. The meat was very tender, a little more than fork tender and melted in my mouth. The meat and sauce was well seasoned but not overly so-just enough "heat" to let you know the spice was there but not overpowering. The re-fried beans tasted like they were just made. The cheese sprinkled over the dish added great flavor. We couldn't finish all the food and wound up taking about 1/2 of each for dinner that evening. The staff I spoke to were friendly and spoke to us like we were family. The only negative aspect was the older laminate type tables and a few water stains in the ceiling. But I've found that older restaurants like this one have the best food. I highly recommend eating here for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Well worth driving a bit outside of downtown T of C.More
