We ate several meals in the restaurant and through their catering service. The waitstaff were very friendly and easy to work with in adjusting our menu order. Even a "basic" salad with salmon added was delicious and affordable. The tenderloin with mashed potatoes was to die for!

We dined several times while staying at the resort and generally enjoyed all our meals. The food was good but not "great" so it seemed overpriced a bit. The menu could use a few more vegetarian options. The real issue (which is why I'm giving 3 rather than 4 stars) is that the service wasn't up to the prices involved.... More

We chose De La Tierra for our Thanksgiving dinner while in Taos. The food was excellent - the Chile Rubbed Ham was amazing. The hotel where the restaurant is located is absolutely gorgeous.

Reading the other reviews, I can see that our experience is not unique. The dining room (and the rest of the property) are undeniably gorgeous, and the property has undergone a recent change in ownership. This is no excuse, just a reality. Our server was very good, but both of the bison burgers my husband and I ordered were overlooked.... More

Wonderfully spacious and sunny room with an attentive wait staff. The only negative was a Well Done bison burger when I had ordered rare/medium rare. It is the sort of thing that happens often when a cook treats the meat like beef instead of bison.

We only ate breakfast here while staying at the El Monte but it was really nice. They have a good mix and selection of NM dishes as well as something healthy if you are trying to be good. Service was good, although slow. The other menus did sound good. Prices were above average but fair.

This was the biggest rip off. We used to come here and stay when it was the original owners. Now, when we come for a day visit from Santa Fe, and stop here for a meal it continues to go down hill. There were literally four people at the bar, we couldn't get service, my boyfriend had to go to... More

Have visited here a couple of times, both times not very busy. Overall food generally good, service just so-so, a bit pricey for what it is. Seems like it wants to be an expensive-fancy restaurant. Probably good for special occasions.

Inside El Monte Sagrado, a very nice resort. De la Tierra has a wonderful staff and beautiful decor but as with otherTaos fine dining restaurants the menu is lacking. The bar is great and we found a great Pinot. Because there are no appealing American Cuisine entrees I rate de la Tierra as very average.

My friend and I stayed at El Monte Sagrado for four nights recently, and dined at De La Tierra on two of those nights. The first night we were exhausted from travel (she had flown from Minneapolis, I had driven from Phoenix), and the delicious meal was most welcome. The setting is absolutely beautiful, the artwork lovely. Over our two... More
