I found this place while jogging in Taos in the morning. It's open Wednesday to Saturday from 8:30am-2pm. They serve delicious bread (there's a small counter table at the entrance of the shop where you can eat), so it's recommended for a light breakfast. They have a drink called Kombucha, which I tried, but it's not kelp tea. Kombucha is a type of black tea that is made by adding sugar to black tea or green tea, then adding gel-like bacteria to it, and fermenting it. It's like a sweet lactic acid drink. It's not very tasty... I guess.

Thank you for your stopping by our Santa Fe shop! In addition to producing our handcrafted baked goods (different types of sourdough breads, croissants and sweets) we offer, we also make our housemade kombucha and chai. Be reassured that our kombucha is indeed fermented and we've been offering our kombucha for many years. Please know that we use premium local and organic ingredients for all our baked goods. As a small family business, we also take pride in paying a living wage to our employees, hence the market value of our products. We appreciate the continuous support of our valued customers who understand how important is for all of us to build a sustainable and local food economy. Hope to see you again.

We tried several pastries over two days: flakey, superb, and a quick breakfast before hiking. The apple, walnut, with and the cinnamon swirl were excellent, not overly sweet, and the pastry dough was super flakey. We found them Saturday at the Farmers Market as well, so if you find the storefront closed, they might be there selling. I got a half loaf of sourdough bread to take home, I haven’t tried it yet, but it looks amazing.

My wife wanted to stop here based solely on the reviews online. A hole in the wall bakery with fantastic tasting goods! I enjoyed a green chili and cheese croissant, my wife enjoyed a ham and cheese croissant and my daughter enjoyed a muffin of some kind. All very good. Highly recommend!

I have been obsessed to their bread! Since I live in Albuquerque, I buy them at Co-op. I tried all flavours available there and none of them disappointed me. The strong sourdough aroma, dense and satisfying texture are heaven! My favourite is the one with molasses and fennel. This unique flavour is totally addictive and I cannot wait to get another package.

Loved eating in at Wild Leaven Before Covid Craze Hit. No place like it but since then you can get their bread at farmers market and local shops. Owners are amazing. Hoping they reopen dining because their community table was something special connecting like the show cheers did and I really miss the homemade soups and scones the most. Try their sourdough bread at the market or Cids.

Delicious flaky pastries and cookies made in this location. A small selection but excellent. Wish there were specialty coffees and a place to sit.

This mostly sourdough bread--everything from rye to walnut to gluten-free--is really delicious. It's sold by the pound, so they slice off a chunk from the large, rectangular loaf and weigh it. It goes into a paper bag, you pay, and off you go. Or you can stay and order a sandwich or choose from two soups of the day. Plus they have a small assortment of sweet baked goods. The chili pecan bars are AMAZING. Sit at the smallish communal table inside to enjoy your lunch outside along the deck. Don't miss this bakery!

We've been in Taos for 2 weeks, and we're already losing track of how many times we've been to Wild Leaven. Today's Saturday and, as they're closed Sun. and Mon., we've stocked up. The funny thing is we're not even big bread eaters. We typically don't even have any at home, but their bread is so good, so unique, that it's like a drug. We've already had 6 different breads and counting, and we've developed a serious jones for their pecan chili bars. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

So this an Artisan bakery and the bread is wonderful. They make thier own Kombachi thast tastes better than anything I've had before. My wife and I stopped in here for lunch. The sandwiches are pretty good and wholesome. There is seating at a table and the emploees very friendly. This is a little whole in the wall gem worth stopping in for.
