My husband and I love eating at El Gamal when we're out doing errands. It's a funky little oasis that is close to parking, and when you step inside you enter an oasis of great vegetarian food at reasonable prices. The turkish coffee is an excellent way to start or finish any meal. My favorite is the falafel sandwich with... More

We were in town for a couple of days and were fortunate enough to discover this gem of a restaurant in the heart of the city. As we arrived it was a quiet restaurant, but it quickly began to fill with locals and tourists. The menu is authentic cuisine with a wide variety of vegetables dishes. Their salads were large... So many times when going to a regular restaurant, you have to find the meatless option. This is a relaxed place in Taos that is just the ticket! Soup was great and hummus sandwich hit the spot!

Who would expect to find a great Middle Eastern restaurant in the middle of Taos? Yet that's what El Gamal is. This is not just your run of the mill hummus and falafel joint. The food is fresh and delicious, and the recipes are creative. On this visit, we had a special goat cheese falafel--a pita overstuffed with six tender... More

Yes, it's an "interesting" decor, but the food and service are excellent. If you've had enough New Mexican food this is a great place for felafel and other vegetarian delights. Portions are decent and the prices are right.

I love coming here for their sampler platter. You can choose from many middle eastern vegetarian offerings such as falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, and much more. My husband love the Israeli breakfast: two eggs with Israeli salad, home-made pita, cheese and olives - a real treat! Another delight are the hand-cut fries cooked with crispy onions and topped with zaatar,... More

I love eating New Mexican food in Northern New Mexico, but occasionally I need a change and El Gamal was that. Casual dining experience great for lunch on early dinner as they close at 5pm, during the week. I had a delicious falafel pita with hummus, falafel, tahini salad, etc. Service was quick, and they have covered outdoor seating if... More

El Gamal is one of the best Vegetarian spots for really good, really tasty food! Great coffee and Indian food nights with music every Thursday. The service is great, and they are very happy to accomodate any requests.

I love the food here! It's homemade, fresh and tasty. I usually order the 5 choice combo plate because I enjoy trying a variety of different dishes. Service is friendly. Desserts are wonderful so save room!

This is in my top 5 favorite restaurants ever. It's most certainly not fancy. You're not going to see and be seen. But the food is quality, and you really feel like you're doing your body a favor by eating here. Not to mention, it's delicious. I always get the avocado pita sandwich. Pay extra for the spicy green sauce.... More
