True to Johnny's comments on the menu, this food is unique to New Mexico. I had the chili relleno and my husband had beef enchiladas with an egg and green chili. He raved about his, and we're from Texas and love our Tex-Mex. Don't get in a hurry. Service is friendly. Enjoy.

It has been a while since I visited the Comet. I was referred there by the County Assessor's office as, since I am a real estate broker, I always seek their opinions when in a town with which I am not familiar. The owner of Comet, Johnny Martinez, is a legend for the town and the state. His menu has... More

We stopped in Santa Rosa during a trip home in Arizona and saw the Comet II down the street from the hotel. We went and seated ourselves at the sign directed. After several minutes my wife got up and got menus as the 2 waitresses just walked past. We ordered our meal but had to get our own silverware. The... More

The best New Mexican food I've had in a while! We had dinner here on the recommendation of a local and the Comet II did not disappoint. Service was a bit slow, but we were on vacation so it didn't matter, and the staff were so friendly and fun! The decor could use a major update, as it has a... More

The food was excellent, blue corn enchiladas and a cup of homemade green chile stew, for me delicious! My wife had chile relleno plate, which she loved. All topped off with a sopailla, and warm pudding. Too much delicious food!

It seems we are always traveling through Santa Rosa at night and it's always after 8, so sometimes hard to find a place to eat. There are very limited dining options to begin with. We always seem to eat at Joseph's, so we decided to try Comet this time. I think we will go back to Josephs next time. There... More

The cup of chile Verde was good but is not served with a hand made tortilla and the tacos is simply 3 average size tacos for 10.25, do the math....the warm custard dessert was appreciated but doesn't equate charging over $10 for 3 tacos. Left me wondering if I should have just had the menudo.

Green chili stew was delicious! Red enchiladas were amazing. Both were spicy but expected as much. My husband had the carne adavado and loved it. A stop for us on our way to Santa Fe from Dallas and well worth it.

We have stopped here many times through the years as we travel. The food is excellent and the service is smiling family style. The chef might even tell you his salsa recipe. Love this restaurant and will keep coming back for more.

Clean, good prices, very friendly helpful staff. The Mexican dishes are great, the non Mexican dishes not as great, just average. It's worth the drive from motels on east side of town, maybe three minutes extra. But, if in New Mexico, gotta dine local. A fairly unique steak and enchilada combo. We had two young boys, seven and eight. Waitresses... More
