Clearly a place where the locals hang. We were fortunate to be there on a night when the owners were in and talkative. Such a treat to listen to them tell stories of the Owl. Those who follow history will enjoy the Owl Bar that and super cheap beer.

As a native New Mexican, I'd say chile is my favorite thing to eat. We moved away 20 years ago but coming home for a visit with family in tow I was not going to miss the Owl bar. Fantastic food - my favorite is the hamburger steak smothered in green chile and onions. Kids loved the green chile hamburgers... More

The Owl has been around for decades and will likely survive me. It's the kind of place that just seems to keep going despite the economy. My father told me about the Owl at least 30 years ago and said I had to go at least once to taste a really good green chile cheeseburger. Because so many restaurants in... More

While in NM, we visited the Owl based on the recommendation of a friend. The burger was great -- would definitely get it again, and again. But as the old saying should go: if a restaurant is famous for one item, you'd better get that item. Some in our party unfortunately strayed from the burger and chose to instead order... More

This restaurant is what I love about small towns. The food was great and they have fresh cut fries and hand made burgers. The green Chile cheese fries were delicious. We had three green Chile cheeseburgers... Light out! Definitely worth checking out in the middle of nowhere.

The best tiny village culinary excursion that is only 2 minutes off I-25 -- but worlds away and a trip back in time. A MUST STOP if you are headed south to Cruces or north to ABQ on the freeway. Get the green chile cheeseburger and treat yourself to the chile cheese onion rings. I stop anytime I'm nearby and... More

We decided to give this place a shot after hearing about it for years. The atmosphere was retro bar, dimly lit, clean. The staff was extremely busy and still polite. The green chili cheese burger was not bad, but it was also not spectacular. Hatch, NM had several places with way better. Blake's Lotaburger it's even better. We also had... More

Not many choices in restaurants or on the menu unless you like grease. We stopped because we were pulling our car with RV and there was space. My husband was dying for a good burger. He had their famous chili cheese and I opted for patty melt. I'm paying for it 30 minutes later. Husband was happy.

I bragged to my teenage daughter about this place having the best green chile cheeseburgers anywhere. When we arrived she said, "Really mom? This place looks sketchy. Can I just wait in the car?" No. We went inside and I was transported back in time 40 years to when I was a student at New Mexico Tech and ate here... More

Two excellent burger places almost in front of each other in the tiny town of San Antonio. Burger is smaller and cheaper in this place, still is very good. Better fries than the Buckhorn. Avoid the chile and bean soup.
