I would say it was decent food. But the issue here is the prices and service. We got their during happy hour, so the half price appetizers weren’t a bad start. But then you get to the main course. For the amount we paid for just the catfish and chicken fried chicken it was a little absurd. $17 dollars each. I would say $11-13 should be max for the amount of food you get. The service was probably the worst part of this trip. We were one table of three in our waitresses section. She struggled to even keep our drinks filled. Our order came out wrong. She even admitted to telling us she out in the wrong order. We asked for our correct meal and she told us that it would be a half price meal. I don’t understand why our meal would be half price for the extra meal if we didn’t want the extra meal.

Being from Texas we figured we would check this place out. We did not have a reservation and they were a little snooty about that, even though the restaurant was only about 1/3 full (Also taking into account social distancing, but still - NOT full by any means). The food was Meh. Hubby had the Chicken fried steak - tough, but the gravy was decent. I had the chicken tenders which were pretty good, but the twice baked potato was not very good at all. The waitstaff and service were excellent though, so we made sure to tip well. Overall not a place that I would make an effort to dine at.

A good place and a good option for a special occasion meal. We celebrated an anniversary with some friends and mentioned it during the reservation process and we’re told we’d get a “table by the window above the lake/fountain”. Arrived and were seated in a booth and kind of figured the table we were told about was taken, so kind of puzzled the person on the phone made a big deal of telling us about it. They did produce a couple of pieces of cake with candles on them gratis for our anniversaries and the food was very good!

I grew up going to Texas club for dinner and was so disappointed in this experience this time. Before this I had never had a bad meal there. We host many guests in Ruidoso and have always recommended Texas club. Not anymore. First we noticed that the regular servers that had worked there for years were all gone. Our server was not very attentive. I had to ask him for the specials. Had to remind him to get our drinks. He brought our salads immediately after he brought our appetizer and brought our meals out immediately after that. Never retrieved a dirty plate. Never got a refill on water. There were many empty tables so it wasn’t that they were swamped. The food was ok. Steak and salmon cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the special Parmesan crusted salmon and it tasted terrible! We will NOT go back and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone again. Very sad for a long time legend in Ruidoso to go downhill.

We always come here for dinner every time we come to Ruidoso. Tonight we decided we will not return. We were at the table for 90 minutes when we finally got our food. They gave us an appetizer for free because of the wait. They did not give us an option of an appetizer or dessert nor did we get an option on what appetizer we’d like. We did not eat it. When the food finally came out, we had been sitting so long we were ready to leave. When we asked to cancel our order they told us it was ready and would be delivered in the next minute. We were still ready to leave so neither of us ate very much and we couldn’t take leftovers because of where we were staying. They charged us full price for everything. The only apology we received was from our server. This is very poor restaurant management and they lost a couple of patrons tonight.

We had reservations and were seated quickly. Our waitress seemed rushed and was rather annoyed at having to answer any questions about the menu. As we looked around the dining area, most guests had glasses of wine. Since this was our first time being here, we thought perhaps they served just wine and beer, so we asked if cocktails were an option. Our waitress took one of our menus and with her finger…tap, tap, tapped on the cover saying “it says right here - BAR”. Wow. It was obviously rude. Our steaks arrived. Ribeyes are our usual choice and they looked delicious. They were perfectly medium rare but tough as a boot…all four of them. All in all the food was less than Ordinary. I’ve had better beef at a local Mexican restaurant and the service was totally unprofessional. We will be dining at Wendells from now on. Or Kbobs where the steaks are always tender and the service Friendly and prompt. I would not recommend this old icon to anyone. So disappointed especially since we were hosting our friends from Texas.

Restaurant is nice and service was good. However, given the prices, the food was disappointing. Salad was primarily iceberg with a couple of pieces of mealy tomatoes. One steak was well done instead of medium well. Steaks had way too much pepper and grilled shrimp didn't have enough seasoning. Overall, food was just okay. Not worth the money.

A couple dinner Last Sunday evening. The regular dining room was cold and not comfortable. The intimate booth room was closed. Only about 8 total customers. We order two entrees, a ribeye and the doves (chicken livers). Our salads were average with bagged croutons. After a long wait, we were served. My ribeye had zero seasoning (No normal Texas Club rub). The cut was cheap and super fatty. The doves were raw, literally, cold in the center. We sent them back and waited again for a new batch. The second doves came out 20 minutes later burned to a black crisp. The waitress alluded to a different cook.
Texas Club has always been a favorite restaurant of ours and we were super disappointed. We have consistently referred friends and family there, however that won’t be happening again.

It was a bit crowded when we first arrived and it took a while to get our drink orders. It thinned out fairly quickly and the waiter was more responsive as the evening progressed. There were four people in our party. Everyone ordered the small filet of beef. 3 out of 4 were excellent and cooked to perfection. One was tough, sinewy and undercooked. The baked potatoes and salads were excellent.

We had dinner here over Father’s Day’s weekend and it was close to the golfing community we stay at. It is a dress casual environment. The menu is inclusive and there is something for everyone. I had the duck special which was perfectly cooked and my husband had a steak. They have a wonderful wine selection and make a great Old Fashioned. Make reservations because chances are you aren’t getting in without one. Also, the hostess is absolutely adorable and makes you feel like you’re part of the family.

We usually eat here for special occasions this time it was my husband’s birthday. I had made reservations and said it was his birthday we were seated in a terrible spot. We didn’t get waited on for 30 minutes, everything was late getting to us our bread was petrified. It usually is delicious.. So very disappointed!!!!

This is a place we visit every time we are in Ruidoso. Last night we were seated against the windows facing the water feature (small lake). We couldn't enjoy the view because the windows were so dirty.
As always the steak, salad, wine, mushrooms, baked potato etc. were tops!

Try the steaks, they were great! Order them medium rare. Looks charred but it's the seasoning and has great flavors. We tried 3 different steaks. I recommend loaded bake potatos as well, has plenty of cheese and toppings. Father ordered twice baked potato and said could be a little warmer. You do need to make a reservation due to covid and shortages world wide on employees everywhere. So people put that in consideration. Prices are little high but it's well worth it. Staff was very friendly!! I'd go back next visit here.

Best steakhouse in Ruidoso. They have a killer bone-in ribeye steak. Also had their 8oz. fillet and very much enjoyed that. Their seafood selection is varied and good. Their potato selection is standard fare. Salads are good. Wish that had a warm dressing for their spinach salad though.
We went with our parents and were seated on the back patio. Normally it is a great and relaxing location. With many other tables available, we were seated at the only one where the setting sun was beating down on us. Why they didn’t seat us at a more comfortable location is beyond me. My mother-in-law actually got sunburned on the back of her legs during the meal. So consider where you are seated when visiting here. Come here for the food. Steaks are your best choice.

All of our entrees were good. (Steak, salmon, grilled shrimp) Salads and baked potatoes were great too. The steak wasn’t the best in Ruidoso, but it was very good. It was a nice place for our anniversary dinner, but be prepared to be there a long time. Also- Bread pudding was okay. Chocolate cake was delicious.
