Hidden gem with wonderful authentic Mexican food. Several vegetarian options, too. Service couldn’t have been nicer. This is saying a lot given the number of Mexican restaurants in the area. Don’t miss this one!

This a hidden gem. The food was delicious. The staff was friendly, flexible, and attentive. A mmust is you want a great meal.
Ruidoso's newest and best bar B Q. The meats are excellently spiced and prepared. The sides are uncommonly good. All freshly made. Best deserts. A welcome addition to the town's take out. Looking forward to a time when we can dine-in.
El Comal is a cut above. The food is great, but the service is worth the price alone. The couple's interactions with each other is like visiting your aunts home, comfy and welcoming. (the aunt where your her favorite and the one that can cook)....Now the food; Chips are crisp, and Salsa is just right. The Chili Relleno and Guacamole are as great as mom's. Enchilada and chimichanga are exceptional. Churro was heaven. Was delightfully surprised. Quaint outdoor patio, beautiful indoors seating, tucked away in one of Ruidoso's little downtown corner. I can't believe I've missed it previously.More
We live in Tucson with a Mexican restaurant on nearly every corner so we know our beans and chilies. We took a chance on Comal based on other reviews and weren't disappointed. Wife had chili rellenos and I had the steak and cheese tacos. That...plus guacamole and two iced teas came to $31 including tax. A bargain! The portions were generous as well. We can't wait to go back.. The only negative is that it is hard to find. For those wanting a great Mexican meal look for a white gazebo out front at the intersection with Country Club.More
Great place for lunch or dinner. Truly enjoyed this father daughter duo. Ask her for recommendations and I promise you won’t be disappointed!
Stopped in after shopping and TripAdvisor rating. We met the owners, very nice people from Mexico. The table salsa and chips are delicious and homemade. My standard for Mexican food Is the rice and beans. Both were delicious. She had the green enchiladas and I...had the fajitas. Both plates were delicious. You won’t go wron are hungry here. Will definitely be back!!More
Great food! Great service! More true Mexican food than the Tex Mex I am accustomed to. Quiet atmosphere was a welcome change from so many loud restaurants.
Stopped here for dinner and was very pleased. We loved the food and great prices. It’s easy to drive past it, which we did, but glad we turned around.
We walked to El Comal, after shopping in several stores. It was a beautiful day, so we chose a table outside. The eating area was quiet and comfortable. I had something with the mole, which was very good. My wife enjoyed her meal, as well....I would eat here again, if we ever return to Ruidoso.More
Tasty menu with some different twists. The mole dishes are superb. And a wonderful flan for the sweet tooth.
Wonderful! Went there for lunch. Homemade, the real deal. The service was great and the price was right. I had a cheese enchilada with onions and a chili relleno with beans (whole) and rice with an ice tea. I will be back!
I am a local with a handful of favorite places to eat and this is definitely one of them. The food is consistently good, the inside has a cozy local feeling, and the prices are pretty average but not high for our overpriced tourist town....The location is in a cute little spot near the Gazebo. Beaware, Parking at the restaurant can be tight. However, there is parking on the street and Ruidoso is meant for strolling threw shops anyway..... So park up the road, eat a lovely meal here, and walk your food off while popping into all the great shops! Have a great visit!!More
This was our first day in Ruidoso. We were not sure where to eat but luckily chose El Comal. Food was great and the restaurant was very charming. Service was great. A lot of food and very affordable.
Ordered the chicken mole enchiladas, very good, not spicy at all. Large portion. My friend had cheese enchiladas with green sauce; queso was good, service was good. Would return certainly. Mid afternoon, not busy at all.
