Absolutely fantastic !! VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT

I've been going to Popo's for many years the food is fantastic and the prices are super great to go along with it!! I get the Steak Tampiquena. You'll enjoy anything you order from here. Popo's is not open for breakfast. The family who own and run Popo's are wonderful giving and supportive people in the Roswell Community, Kids, Young adults

Performance beyond expectations!!

My mom lives in Roswell and we wanted to celebrate her 90th birthday. I called Popo's to see if they could cater our event I was having in a meeting room at a local hotel. When asked the time, I replied we wanted to meet at 11:00 am. Chris said "no problem". Even though it was a Sunday, they offered to come in early and have everything prepared by 11:00. And that is what they delivered. Everything was hot, it had a great presentation, it fed more than enough for the 15 people I had asked for (good leftovers), it tasted fantastic and every team member was extremely courteous (both on the phone and in person). If you haven't given Popo's a try, I highly recommend you do. Great food at a great value. They made a very special day even more special for my family. Thank you Popo's!!

Good service, inexpensive

Our service was good. Our beverages were kept full. We were greeted shortly after sitting down. Food fairly quick and served hot. Taco was good. Enchiladas not bad but a little bland. Salsa was good, chips ok. Rice was well cooked. Sopapillas were good.

Family restaurant with a lot of heart!

We've been PoPo's fans for the past thirty years. The menu is yummy...food is inexpensive. The PoPo's family is supportive of our community, helping wherever they can. They cater - when my dad died, PoPo's brought the best red and green enchiladas. We have our favorites...the #1, #2, the relleno plate (awesome rellenos). We enjoy the sopapillas hot and freshly made. Salsa? You betcha! I like to take some home when I can. You won't find food this good for these prices anywhere. Good people, great food.

Best hole-in-the wall in New Mexico!

We have eaten at Popo's numerous times over the past twenty years, and never miss the chance for a meal there if we are travelling anywhere in the area. Hands down the best homeade salsa anywhere!

Good and expensive

We went here when one of their family members asked us if we had been when we were in his store between Roswell and Ruidoso. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious, prepared quickly and very reasonably priced. Service was wonderful. One thing that really impressed us was that the restaurant was having a special fundraiser for a community member who was seriously ill in order to provide financial support. This restaurant gives back to the community. That is seriously a huge selling point for us.

Great food & prices

We were driving through on our way from Texas to California and found this place on Trip Advisor and after reading the reviews thought we would give it a try. Great food, amazing prices and fast service. Chips & salsa were great! Great chili sauce was tasty and we all enjoyed our meals.

Great cheap eats

I stopped by because of other positive reviews. It is located a couple of blocks off the main drag. The dining area is clean but not polished. The fried tortilla chips were dense so it gave them the texture of a thicker chip. I ordered the Mexican Chicken Fried Steak. I highly recommend it if you like chicken fried steak. It was a wonderful Mexican twist on the chicken fried steak. Service was very friendly, helpful and fast.

Wonderful!

I go to Popo's anytime I'm in town, and I tell people about it all the time. It's my favorite, and the salsa is the best. I will say that service (servers, not kitchen) this time was a little slower...maybe they have new staff. The food is still delicious and the prices are great. I'll definitely be back next time.

Disappointed

My daughter-in-law and I were at Popo's Monday night and we were quite disappointed. We ordered the same thing but they put red sauce on hers instead of green. I said I wanted my guacamole in a dish on the side. When they brought our food to us, which was nice and temperature hot, I saw the guacamole in a dish but as i was eating my salad when came on the plate, I noticed there was a bit under the salad. What they did was they put it on the plate, then took it off and put it in a dish. Then we sat there for at least 20 minutes after we had eaten for the waitress to come and ask us if we were ready for our sopapillas. The food was good for so many things went wrong!

Return trips never disappoint!

I first reviewed this place in 2011, we have made frequent return trips during travel to Roswell and have always found it to be great. Food is good, plentiful and well priced. Like my first review pointed out - this is New Mexican food which is different than Mexican or Tex-Mex.

Reasonably Quaint

We got a recommendation front a friend to go to this place. Glad we did!! The food is very reasonably priced whether it be just one person or a family of 10. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. PoPo's is a definitely a local place, so if you are in to the local places and not the big chain diners, this is the place to go! BTW... Loved the chips and salsa!!!

Excellent Rellenos

The rellenos are the best I’ve ever eaten. The sopapillas were excellent as well. My family of four ate for $25 and we were stuffed. The portions are nice sized. The chips and salsa were great too. I have no complaints with anything. The restaurant was a little sketchy looking, but that’s never bothered me as long as the food is good.

You Can't Judge A Book By It's Cover

So good! The outside of this restaurant may make you think it is just a dive. Don't be fooled. Go inside and you will get amazingly friendly service. The food is out of this world good. My friend had the Guadalajara Plate and I had the Cheese Enchiladas with an Egg. Yes, that's an option and I am told this is traditional. The chips and salsa are homemade and so good you will be tempted to fill up on them. We had sopapillas for dessert. We've had sopapillas in several restaurants and these are certainly among the best we have ever had. To top it all off, the prices are unbelievably affordable. Our entire meal was under $20.
