I usually tend to rate restaurants on the higher scales. If the food and service is good, I’m a happy camper. That said, this trip left a lot to be desired. My fiancé would have given zero stars but again I tend to be more...generous. Here’s the ups and downs of the experience: When we arrived there were maybe four cars in the lot. That was a bit of a red flag. However we were hungry and just wanted to eat so we went in. Inside there were a small group of people huddled around the bar, by their conversations they knew the staff or owners. The entire rest of the restaurant was empty. I mean empty as in not a soul. We sat in the patio and it was quit. Too quit. We did enjoy the tube of an empty lacroix can that made its way over to us on the ground. The serve was nice and attentive, so that was great. We ordered two margaritas. I’ve had many many margaritas in many restaurants and this one tasted off. It was very sweet with little to no hint of tequila. It’s almost as if they poured almost none, then filled the rest up with mix. It was a bit glass. Usually big classes you can feel it or taste it at the end. It was almost no trace of tequila. $9 each. My food, a towering enchilada wasn’t awful. It was a bit wet and liquidy but I eat almost anything. My fiancé’s on the other hand was rough. She ordered a New York strip steak with shrimp. $18. What she got was a steak so thin she fit it between the prongs of the fork. The shrimp had crust on the outside. Not sure why. The rice as her side was also wet and she poured out excess liquid from the bowl that it came in. To put it frankly, she was livid. Again I tend to be generous in my scoring but she was so disappointed and upset at the cost and quality we had to stop at Mc’ds on the way home. I have a feeling this experience will haunt me the rest of the night as i’ll continue to hear my fiancé rant about it. In closing: The restaurant is nice enough. It could do with some music, especially outside. The food quality needs to be improved and the joke of a steak should be an example of what not to do. The amount we paid for the quality was just disappointing. This restaurant could be great. But it needs a complete overhaul on how it runs to achieve it. At this time I would not recommend this place nor have plans to return.More

I confess to having "yawn" reactions to Rio Rancho, when I come out of the mountains for business in the Albuquerque metro area. As a city Rio Rancho is devoid of character, no city center, and filled with chains and big box stores you find...from coast to coast. So stumbling over Cazuelas Mexican Gill and Brewery was a delightful surprise. On Sara Road, but off the main drag in a semi-industrial sort of area, we had to look for it. Once there, we were delighted, The place has a lot of character, a large and delightful outdoor dining patio (what we were seeking in these pandemic times). The patio has a tall fountain, a lovely ambiance, and a great view of the Sandia mountains and the Rio Grande Valley just below the restaurant. Green chile chicken enchiladas for me, accompanied by a yummy oversized flour tortilla, and a very decent Amber Ale. Service at lunch was prompt and helpful.More

My husband and I came in for a beer and a light appetizer. Worst service ever. Waiter couldn't answer any questions pertaining to the menu. He also forgot the beer we had ordered. When the food did come out it was cold and wasn't very...good. I've had better from Taco Bell The waiter was busy with the other tables and we couldn't get his attention. The only good thing was the beer was good. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.More

Hits the spot. Not the best but you won't have any bad chow. I'm sad they stopped brewing root beer.

This was on a Saturday late afternoon, everything was going well till the server brought out my buddys food...then looked at me and informed me that they didn't have my meal..(ceviche tostada). She then stood over my shoulder hovering while I tried to come up...with something else. I ordered the Barbacoa Plate,(it was tasty but a very small portion for almost 13 bucks) and when it arrived I asked how long she knew that they didn't have any ceviche? After a snarky comment from her, I asked for the manager and was told she was unavailable...and she then dumped our table on another server. So finally the manager shows outside the dining room and I spoke with her while our original server is huffing and puffing all over the place ...several sorry sorry sorry things..but that was about it. I have eaten here several times and the food is normally okay..the beer is good...not too busy.. But on a few occasions the service has been terrible..but we have overlooked it till now...guess the sign of insanity is doing same thing over and over expecting a different result.More

Went with a group and unfortunately they were out of a lot of the menu selections. Too Bad. But had to try their Beerita. Highly recommended by a local. It was good.

We first attempted to have a drink a drink at this place about 18 months ago and we were not able to get served. There were a few people at the bar but it was not busy. The bartender, however, was so involved in conversation...with his friends that he was not paying attention to his job. We tried again today with about the same result. There was someone behind the bar talking to his friends. A server did come by to take our order. He did bring my Wife's drink but never brought mine. After several minutes we offered to pay our tab and left.More

We ha e been here twice, and sat in the huge patio both times. The agave wine margaritas were tasty, and had a generous amount of agave wine, the beers are good and the ceviche is amazing. I ordered the shrimp and fish ceviche tostadas...and loved them both times. Some of the best I have had in New Mexico! The beer is brewed in house and tastes great, we had the American IPA American wheat beer. We had the fish and chicken tacos for the entrees, and loved them too. We had a great time both times, this is a hidden gem in Rio Rancho.More

Ordered menudo and chicaron breakfast burrito. Sopapillas, delicious! Salsa and chips very good. Like the chips, they are thicker and warm. Salsa tasty, not too hot. Overall good food on our breakfast visit.

We sat in the bar/brewery and enjoyed their pint special. The special was pretty decent but not outstanding. My buddy tried a Citra Smash and said it was great. The bartender was friendly. Their outdoor seating area was large and open with a nice water...feature. I had a plate of carnita enchiladas with green chili and an egg on top. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s been awhile since I moved away from New Mexico but in my opinion it was a good example of New Mex cuisine.More
