We recently made a return trip to Nameste Restaurant in Rio Rancho which serves cuisine from Nepal and India. This remains one of our favorite local restaurants and this visit was as good as the previous one. For an entree, my wife went with one of her standard favorites, the Chicken Korma ($15.25). I tried a different selection, for me, the Chicken Chow Chow ($12.95) Both were excellent as usual. The favors of the Chicken Chow Chow were excellent.
In addition to the main courses we had an appetiizer of the Vegetable Pakora ($4.50) which we always get and is also excellent. Then there was a side order of garlic naan which was included with the entree. Too much food, but that is what doggie bags are for.
What makes Nameste exceptionally appealing is the great service. We both give Nameste the highest rating in both food and service.

I really want to give Namaste a five star review. We're it strictly a matter of service, it'd be a slam dunk five for sure. Service was super friendly, highly efficient, and all staff were both intent on and competent in making us feel at home. This alone is worth going back for.
The food was very good. But it lacked the pizzazz of the best Indian food. Dishes were very pleasant but not lively. My vindaloo had superior flavor, but was only slightly spiced. Of all Indian dishes, vindaloo must be very spicy.
This lack of piquancy is actually common in combination Nepalese/Indian restaurants, which tend to lean toward milder flavors of the Nepal. If I go back, I'll opt for Nepalese items.

We recently went to Nameste Restaurant in Rio Rancho which serves cuisine from Nepal and India. This is one of our favorite local restaurants and this visit did not disappoint. While in the past we have tasted many of the selections on their menu, we have recently gotten into the habit of getting our favorites. For my wife this means Tiki Masala and for me it means Reshmi Chicken. As usual both were excellent. What makes Nameste exceptionally appealing is the great service. The owner made a point to spend time talking to us about her past and how she came to own this restaurant. Maybe next time we will branch out and again order some other menu dishes.
We both give Nameste the highest rating in both food and service.

I ordered the Goat Vindaloo. There were small bones in the meat and the sauce was thinner than what I’ve had at other restaurants. The meat didn’t have much flavor I was sorry I hadn’t chosen the lamb version....After hearing from friends it was their favorite place I wanted to try it. I’m not sure if I’m willing to spend another $20+ to try another dish for lunch there.

Great food, not overly spiced although the food is very flavorful. I am a fan of very spicy food, so I usually order the pickles (they are delicious by themselves too) to raise the spice level up a notch if needed for my taste. My family loves the food as it is. The naan and the rice are great sides. The desserts are great too, if you still have room (or to take home for later). Prices are reasonable, especially keeping in mind the quality of the food. The quality is consistent. We come here quite often and try different foods, have not had a bad experience yet. Great place for vegetarians and meat eaters, many of the vegetarian entrees can be made vegan too.

This family run restaurant recently moved into a new larger location in Rio Rancho. The Garlic Naan flat bread is delicious. The buffet is affordable if you want to try many different things at lunch. The Tandoori Chicken was a walk around the world treat for the taste buds. The saag (Lamb cooked with spinach and touch of cream) was wonderful. For an appetizer I tried the Keema Samosa (Crisp patties stuffed with ground lamb and green peas) yum. When you get tired of the same old burger routine, but don't want to break the bank, I'm there. The wait staff is also very good and will check that everything is to your liking.

I had lunch at Nameste today for the first time. Based on reviews, I was very excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We both had the buffet which looked pretty good but really was just ok. I have had a lot of really good Indian food, along with some passable and mediocre. I would rate this as passable, but not a restaurant I plan on giving a second chance.
The sauces were both too thin and not very flavorful. I had two dishes that I have had many times and both were just plain boring and the flavors were off. The best things in the buffet were the samosas and the chutneys.
The service was ok, but not great. They didn’t bring us bread until we had both practically finished our meals. Oh well, hopefully there is better Indian food around

We love this place. The food is wonderful as is the service. We have been going to Namaste for years and never tire of the cuisine. The new location is larger and nicely decorated..

My spouse went and brought me her leftovers! Great sag paneer, jasmin rice etc. can you believe I took it in my car and started snacking on it for breakfast it smelled so good! Then I ate the rest plus the dosa for lunch! Every one was jealous! I was so lucky!

There is an extensive menu so I'd skip the buffet and go for something off the menu. The food is mildly exotic which appealed to my uninitiated palette. Service was without pretense and homey. If you are expecting the professional server approach this isn't it so relax and enjoy the delicious food. If they forget something just ask.
Dishes aren't necessarily expensive but be prepared to spend $20.00 without drinks.

We ordered 4 dishes, all “hot” and they were excellent. We stay away from buffets since they have usually been too “Americanized” ie not spicy enough, so ordered in. Cannot recommend highly enough and I am picky since I cook Indian at home. Only thing I would recommend would be that they fry the paneer in ghee first before adding it to saag or other dishes.

The new location at 1580 Deborah Rd., just south of old location at 1520 is a big hit. I'd say the seating capacity has doubled but the food quality and variety for the lunch buffet are still fantastic. Original owner still on hand for the traditional namaste greeting. The service is so good with water refills and the nan bread. This would be a handy spot for lunch groups too with the expanded seating and ease of a lunch buffet. A delight for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

We went with another couple to this tried and true local ethnic favorite. The Chicken Momo appetizer is a Nepalese dumpling, excellent with a tasty dipping sauce. We love their Tikka Mesala; and this time we tried chicken with a New Mexican Green Chile sauce, outstanding. Rice with peas and excellent Garlic nan (bread) accompany the meal.
We tried Pistachio ice cream as a shared dessert. The service is prompt and friendly. We were visiting and we lingered a long time with no pressure from the staff. We'll be going back!!
