The trick is to find La Cosina open--it is family owned and operated, and they only open a few days a week. This is the place to go in Raton if you want authentic regional cuisine. The structure is plain and unassuming, but the food is delicious and satisfying, and prices are reasonable. I had the chicken flauta plate today,... More

Short walk from train station. Very small, plain structure off the beaten pass. Been in business for over 40 years. Food, service, value all outstanding. Provided tastings of a couple sauces, nice touch. Fresh made guacamole.

Food and service were mediocre. Sopapillas came with the meal - two large ones each. They were good, but I don't typically order dessert. The tacos were small, nothing special. The beans were tasteless. I wouldn't try it again.

Wow what a great surprise. I have never had better chicken enchiladas in my life. They were stuffed with a ton of meat and the sauce was perfect. I chose the green sauce. I believe they make their own tortillas too. The chips were delicious. You have to order chips and salsa though. This is not a typical tex mex... More

I know, I know...this hole in the wall family restaurant is furnished in hand-me-down vinyl and aluminum dinette sets, and is only open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, but trust me, this is the most amazing "cooked in Mamasita's kitchen" food I've ever eaten. Just try to catch them open. You won't regret it.

The owners at my hotel recommended this place, and I'm glad I took their advice. They also recommended that I get it to go, as the restaurant/gas/convenience store ambience ain't for everyone. But it worked fine for me, with a mix of travelers and Spanish speakers sharing the small dining room. I had the cheese chile rellenos, and they were... More

Just driving through Raton on the way to Albuquerque, New Mexico food Mecca! Well this place is as good as our fav places in ABQ, a diamond in the rough. Service was great, a nice small town feeling restaurant. Unknowingly, we walked in minutes before they closed for lunch (2pm), we felt horrible after we ordered and saw them switch... More

Food was VERY mediocre. They brought out stale yellow Mission tortilla chips and store bought salsa. My husband ordered the open face red chili burger and it was literally Hornel hot dog chili. I had soft chicken tacos - nothing special. Service was slow. I stood at the cashier for at least 10 minutes waiting to be checked out &... More

On our way to Santa Fe we stopped in La Cosina for an early lunch, deciding that the reviews and the amount of cars in the parking lot looked promising. Staff was very friendly and really is the only reason I gave 2 stars, rather than 1. But the food....For starters, the green chili was very watered down. My burrito... More
