Service started off ok then we got our drinks , beer was warm , margarita had no garnish and were semi cold . We wanted my nieces kids burger brought out first as kids plates usually are brought out first and it was brought with...the whole order . My partner requested his dish a certain way and it took them four tries to finally get it ! Then his enchilada wasn’t properly cooked and the cheese wasn’t even melted inside ! We talked with manager but she is worthless and made up all these excuses . She blames short staff reasons as to why the food wasn’t properly cooked ! She blamed the beer being warm due to short staff . She blamed the kids burger due to short staff ! It’s a tiny piece of meat so that’s why it takes long to cook ! It’s not our first rodeo so her excuses were ridiculous and she needs retraining! No compensation was given ! We also ordered more beer but was never brought out due to short staff reasons ! We were a party of five and were there to enjoy ourselves and spend money ! They clearly don’t want our business anymore ! One of my guests didn’t even eat due to their short staff situation . The so called manager just wanted to argue and not just say you know what let me take care of this for you and fix the problem . She wanted us to clearly explain everything and for her to argue with her excuses ! The server was ok never rude but does need more training as well !More

Authentic Mexican in an historical building with great atmosphere. Good reputation well deserved. Servers could have ben more friendly but reduced staff was putting them under a lot of pressure to serve everyone. Still is 5 star mexican

Found La Posta on a Google search. Most AMAZING shrimp cocktail and shrimp salad ever!! Loved the décor! Certainly going to be on our favorite list when we relocate to the area!

Fun, fun restaurant. Colorful sights to see at every turn. Talking parrots in the lobby. Mexican art everywhere. Good menu, reasonable prices. Extremely friendly, accommodating staff. Lovely patio. Worth the visit.

This restaurant has been in business since 1939 and is housed in an historic building. The pandemic must have been hard for them since a sign in the entrance warns you that service may be slow due to lack of employees. The interior is very...colorful with small rooms that hold about 6 tables. The menu is extensive. I ordered a chicken fajita salad which was very large and I could not finish it. My husband had posole and green enchiladas. He also could not finish, but was very pleased with the flavors. My Horny Rita had little to no tequila, my husband enjoyed his tequila/mezcal flight. The service was not slow and our server very pleasant. I saw that the menu had children's options, so good for families. I would definitely return to try more dishes.More

It was great to visit this place I have wanted to experience for years. It did not disappoint. First, the food. It was very good, service was excellent (Thanks, Tyler), and the beer was cold. I got one of the combos, and other than the...tamale, which was dry, I can't complain. (4 stars here). I wanted to come back to try some of the more eclectic items, but never made it. The history and ambience of the place is the most impressive; it's like a little town unto itself - comprising pretty much a whole city block. So much to see. They have a gift shop too. So yes, it's a tourist attraction, but I wouldn't call it a "tourist trap" as some reviewers have. It's a fun place, the food is very good, the prices are reasonable, and I enjoyed it greatly. I would go back if and when I return to Cruces.More

The ambiance was authentic to Mexico. Piñatas hanging from ceiling, ceramic statues on the walls, colorful paint. The food was delicious. We had quesadillas, burritos, tacos, and fajitas. Flan, sopapillas, and churros were also delicious.

For history buffs it is a great place to visit. The service was great too bad the food wasn't as good. In my opinion it was over priced and had no flavor.

We had heard that this restaurant was a bit "touristy." How we wish we had listened to that advice. We are used to tasty and well-prepared Mexican food. Trust me, you will not be getting this at La Posta de Mesilla. We ordered tacos with...beans and rice. ALL of the dishes tasted exactly the same. There was no salsa or jalapenos offered with our meal or any seasoning at all to distinguish each dish. We won't be back. Sad, as we now live in Las Cruces, but this is not the place. Totally a tourist trap.More

Sunday dinner mother's day I had forgotten. Anyway the restaurant was really busy & I was ready to leave but we decided to eat at the bar. The bartender was extremely friendly and had us drinking everything she recommended. Then she said order of the...secret menu. We ate so good and I personally don't drink but she had me drinking 5 specialty drinks and my wife around 10. I can stress enough how good the food was and the drinks. I highly recommend it. After we walked around a little plaza for some light shopping and to walk off all the food and drinks.More

Ok, ok, I’ve reviewed this place numerous times, but in fairness, it’s such a nostalgic restaurant. The setting is among the most signifying locations for a restaurant I’ve ever been to. The building is about 180 yrs old, and has such a realistic “old west”...feel to it. The lobby is charming, with the bird cages and decor. There’s a gift shop as you walk in, complete with t-shirts, cook books, salsas and more. Take a few mins to explore the property, as there’s always something I see, I’ve never noticed before. The restaurant is large, and has several smaller separate dining areas for intimacy, or privacy; and a very cool outdoor courtyard patio. On the weekends, there’s usually entertainment in the courtyard, such as a Spanish guitar player, or similar: It really adds to the nostalgia. The menu for a restaurant this size is actually small and limited, in my opinion. The combos are limited as well, and there isn’t one that really checks all the boxes for me. They do have all the usual suspects though, such as tacos, rellanos, enchiladas and more. Most times, I do end up going with the La Posta combo, which if nothing else, is filling. On a sad note: The Steak La Posta is no longer available on the menu. This dish was simply the best entree ever served in Ole Mesilla. With melted Monterey Jack and hatch green Chile sauce over a grilled fillet mignon, complete with a rolled red enchilada, and rice, it was an absolute must try. There is a sign out front saying the menu is limited now due to lack of staff, so I get it I guess. But this dish was a staple here for decades, and needs to be brought back in my honest opinion. No review here would be complete without a review of their award winning bar. Grab a couple of their fresh squeezed margaritas, and you’re in for a night. The margaritas here are among the best anywhere. They use top shelf tequilas, and fresh squeezed juices. Whether frozen or “on the rocks”(as it should be) you’re in for a treat: Btw: they have a larger menu for tequilas and drinks than they actually have for dinner…hmm Service has always been good, and my last trip was no exception. I Sat at the bar, as I usually do(wait time for a table is lengthy), and everything was brought out in a timely manner. Glasses were kept full, and nothing was overlooked. All n all, there’s plenty of choices for dining in Ole Mesilla, and I’ve tried em’ all more than once. But there’s something that always draws me back here. Maybe it’s the setting, maybe the food, but probably the margaritas. But either way, I’ve been coming here for 30 yrs, during my travels, and it’s still among my favorites. If you get the chance to visit Ole Mesilla, take in all in, as it’s a relaxing place to visit. But when the diner bell rings, you owe it to yourself to give this place a try…. EnjoyMore

After having dinner the night before at The Hacienda de Melilla nearby, this restaurant did not meet my expectations. My wife had their beef tacos, fair. I had a fajita burrito. While the meat was tender and the taste was good… my food was barely...warm. I did tell the manager walking around… we expressed our dissatisfaction…. No offer to try something different… nothing, I will say my margarita was very good ( La Pratron ). Additionally, the place was interesting and certainly historic.. we do wish we had returned for round to at the Hacienda.More
