Stopped in on a non holiday weekend and was glad to see that there were open during COVID with limited seating. Sat outside in the sun and enjoyed some food and talk. Wait staff was pleasant and so was the bartender when I went in...and asked how everything worked since I had not been in before. She stated to go sit down and someone would help us. Waiter was nice, other wait staff helped with multiple tables, and food was tasty as well. Had some green Chile stew, fries, and artichoke hearts and you could tell they were not frozen. Will be back again with friends.More

Growing up in the 60s, my parents always took us to Madrid to see their Christmas lights. Many years later me and my girlfriend made many trips through here but 1 particular trips stands out. I was alone and taking the detour to Santa Fe...through 14 when my car broke-down, fortunately, within walking distance of Madrid. At the Mine Shaft, a couple of locals volunteered to get me going again so shortly I was on my way. Not before I treated them to beers at the tavern, though. Their willingness and generosity of the community I'll always remember.More

My wife and I stopped here after driving the Turquoise Trail. We ordered the fried chiles as an appetizer, the green chile stew and the chile burger. 3 chile dishes, 3 different heat levels. The fried chiles were one of the best things we had...in New Mexico. Flavorful and fried to perfection. The burger was one of the best we had ever, and we're from beef country in Kansas. We know a great burger and this was one. The chile stew was so hot that our lips were numb after each bite. Whatever batch of chiles it had, they were way way hot! Service was excellent and attentive. Other diners were happy to strike up conversation and share their travels and New Mexico experiences. This is simply a great place to eat and relax.More

This is a nice style Cantina out in Madrid which is between Albuquerque and Santa Fe on the east side of the mountain. They are pretty good green chile cheeseburgers here with the full green chili instead of it died stop. They do have a...full bar but if you get a drink know that the water out here kind of has a sulfuric taste to it. Prices are good. Service is good.More

Great atmosphere and service. We have been in the tavern and cantina part eating in and out on patios. Buffalo burgers are great and the wagyu burger is great. They also have sweet potato fries are wonderful.

This was the perfect little find during a recent getaway. The tavern staff do a wonderful job of social distancing, wearing masks, and requiring customers to wear their masks properly. The only customers that might disagree are the ones that choose not to abide by...the simple requirements. If you’re up from your table, please wear a mask. Simple! These amazing folks are trying to keep afloat during a crashing economy. Kudos to the owners for doing such a fantastic job! The mad green chile burger is the best....like AMAZINGLY great! You might get lucky and catch a live band In the outside cantina. A great little getaway in a rustic, quaint town. We will definitely be back!More
