Well, I never would have found this place had I not been out scouting for Longmire filming locations used in the TV show. This restaurant was the original Red Pony restaurant that the set was built off of for Henry's bar if you watch the show on Netflix. The food was great for lunch, the service was prompt and friendly,... More

It's a cool place to eat and listen to music on the outside deck. I had Shroom burger, yum , mushrooms. It was very good. The hatch chili peppers (appetizers) with ranch dressing is so good! We went back again and had quesadillas. They also make a fantastic Jalepeno cucumber margarita. It's a very interesting place, a lot of history... More

Stopped in Madrid, New Mexico and ate at this restaurant. You can actually eat inside in the air conditioning or eat outside on the porch. We ate inside. The room was decorated with many good western-themed pictures and other objects. The menu stretches from burgers to fish & chips to sandwiches to enchiladas. We both got the burger. I was... More

I was visiting my brother in New Mexico and was lucky to have him show me the local's version of Madrid. I felt right at home at The Mine Shaft Tavern - not only because the staff were so sweet and fun but because it had a very similar vibe to my favorite neighborhood bars back home in New Orleans.... If you are looking for a dive bar with atmosphere and a good restaurant, find your way to Madrid, NM and the Mine Shaft Tavern. As mentioned many times, the green chile cheeseburger is as good as advertised, and so are the fried green hatch chiles (served with ranch dressing). The chicken tenders were a little weird (actually looked more... More

The server recommended that I try the Wagu Mad Chile Cheeseburger. The Wagu, which is like Kobe beef, is raised down the road from the restaurant. It was the best Cheeseburger I have ever had. The service was great and we had the added treat of live music. Well worth the stop and I will be back.

Ordered a burger and fries. Excellent service and good food. Let credit card by mistake and waitress immediately locked it up until I returned to get it.

My wife and I had buratta salad, cheese quesidilla, and a brisket sandwich. All quite good. Service was very friendly and moderately efficient. Funky atmosphere. Can get crowded and that slows things down.

Stopped in for a bite while driving the Turquoise Trail. We enjoyed our food but there were a few men who were very drunk and made us uncomfortable. The men kicked a glass under the bar and were yelling. I am glad this occurred at the end of our meal.
