We ate at The Mine Shaft Tavern during a visit at Madrid. We ordered fish tacos which is awesome. The Tavern have live music in the balcony. Nice people. Good service.

After having a dismal experience at Jezebel's down the street the day before my family and I decided to try The Mine Shaft and what a wonderful surprise we had, it was a night/day difference. The food was really good, affordable, and the environment was relaxing. If you go there you have to try their green chili strips YUM! This... More

Thanks for the great review! We're glad you enjoyed our Hatch Chile Basket - they're lightly deep fried whole chiles with a dipping sauce. Owner Lori Lindsey came up with the concept, she created them for our award winning "MadChile Burger" and have been a big hit! More

Driving down the Turquoise Trail to Albuquerque and came through Madrid a little hungry. Stopped here because it loooked like an interesting location. Hit it after lunch so things were slow. Fairly good lunch menu - something for everyone. The onion rings and the wings were very good. The BBQ burger was cooked to perfection. Service was a little slow... More

First of all, I was in awe of the fact that this was in the actual town where they filmed Wild Hogs!!! You got plenty of food but it all came on paper plates so don't expect fine dining. Burgers were hugh and the beer cold. It was a breezy day and we moved indoors as there is two parts... More

I stopped by after lunch. Not many folks in there at the time. I perused the menu, lots of burgers and fries and plenty of beer. Nice atmosphere with good music. The place has an interesting history as an old mine located on HWY 14, the Turquoise Highway. Try the fried Hatch chiles, not to be missed.

We stopped here for beers and were talked into the deep fried Hatch chiles by our outstanding server. They were unbelievable! Good cold beer, friendly service and tasty food on an outdoor patio does not disappoint!!

The Mine Shaft Tavern, circa 1899 is about as Southwest as She gets. A honky tonk situated right smack dab in the serpentine of old NM-14. It was recommended to us, but honestly I may have driven right past while focusing on the curving road. Madrid, NM known most recently for the filming location of the Wild Hogs (2007) has... More
