About a third of the way north on the beautiful Turquoise Trail you find the eclectic village of Madrid. On the left side hidden behind a brushwood fence and a giant tree you will find the Hollar restaurant. While a little on the neglected artsy...More

I am a local and eat lunch there every month or two. We were there last night and I was holding a fundraiser. The owner, Josh was very kind and helped by providing a space for a number of neighbors and friends to meet. The...More

Fun sitting on the patio and watching the tourists go by. We enjoyed our blue cheese & mushroom burgers, I had sweet potato fries and my wife had okra......all the food was great, certainly expensive enough at $13.50 for a burger! I had doubts about...More

Well, it's one of those things that makes you go 'hm...'. I don't like giving 3 stars, but I didn't have the best of times there. First of all, we sat down outside and it took us about 20 minutes before we were served. During...More

Very good eats--but don't go if you're in a hurry! Where else in New Mexico can you get such southern fare as fried green tomatoes, shrimp po-boy, and shrimp & grits? Loads of other creative dishes on the menu, too. The Hollar is also dog-friendly...More

Just to address the other reviewers, you can eat inside, so if you don't want to deal with bugs just go inside. If you don't like dogs, then you will have an issue, but they were all well-behaved and kept to the outside dining as...More

Ordered an appetizer and it took too long to get. Didn't expect to eat with a dozen dogs, although they were leashed. Flies everywhere. Yuck!

I do not mind paying for water as I live in another desert area but the resturants here at least let us know if they charge for water or refills when or before we order. Most have it posted in a place everyone can see or on... More

I would call the restaurant directly and ask that question. I have no idea if they do whole cakes or the charge for that.
