We were wanting to experience authentic Mexican cuisine on our travels. Stopped on a late Saturday afternoon. The chili rellano pepper was the worst ever. It was small and tasted terrible. The fajitas had very little meat and were overcooked and only came with two tortillas. I couldn't use enough salt to freshen the taste. Very bland. Usually chips and... More

This family run restaurant has served the same great food at a great price for as long as I have been passing by (40+ years) You just can't beat the place for a tasty well price meal while on the road.. I bet we have eaten here over 100 time. Never a bad meal never a bad service,,,,

I had the chicken salad! It was more than enough. The chicken was fresh and juicy. The waitstaff was very nice too.

This is a perfect stop for Mexican food. Roy Orbson even ate here, the place is full of history. Cool pictures on the walls of days gone buy. Place was full of locals. Real Mexican beans not from a can. Green chile was great Elizabeth was great, very good customer service skills. This is the place you must plan to... More

This small town historic restaurant offered a plentiful menu with reasonable prices and good food. We tried the " dirty" taco which is a cheese covered fried taco filled with regular taco stuffings... yummy new food to try out.

Hopped off I-25 Sunday morning for gas and a quick breakfast and luckily spied Johnny's Mexican Kitchen. Several cars were in the lot and the building looked interesting, so we thought, Why Not! Best choice we've made in a long time....charming interior with lots of nick-naks & memorablia on the walls, and a fantastic breakfast menu. We each got something... More

Don't let the exterior or the lack of parking fool you! This place is worth stopping for. It has a quirky, fun interior with plenty of seating and friendly wait staff. Food was fast and well prepared. Really generous portions. Can't say enough about it.

Stopped off here while traveling back home. It's a quaint, family-owned restaurant. The food was delicious. Both red chile and green chile was delicious. Two thumbs up for Original Johnny's Kitchen!

Carne Adovada is our favorite New Mexican dish (pork simmered in red chile for those who do not know). There is a spectrum of the chile hotness from "meh" to "oh my God that is hot". Theirs is just right - warm enough to be really tasty but not so much as to burn your mouth off. Order it with... More

We picked this restaurants based on the reviews. The food was great, with a friendly atmosphere and its location is right off the freeway. We tried a stuffed sopapilla which was awesome. We ended our meal with more sopapillas covered in honey. We will definitely eat here again.
