Good mexican food with superlative service! Our waitress, Yogi, provided arguably the best customer service we've received spanning several cities across several states. Her personality, positive mindset, and beautiful smile were infectious. The Chimichanga Banderas was delicious and my travel colleague really liked the Green Chile enchiladas. Thanks to Yogi and the team at La Nueva Casita Cafe for an outstanding meal and experience.

This is a quaint restaurant, not many tables, but the wait staff was friendly and helpful. We had the chicken fijita salad and the taco plate. When we first sat down our server brought complementary chips and salsa to our table. The chips were fresh and, although he said it was spicy, my husband couldn't stop eating the salsa! The salad was huge! We asked for the guac and sour cream on the side. The taco plate came with three soft tacos, rice and beans. Everything was fresh and tasty.

While visiting Las Cruces had lunch at La Nueva Casita Cafe on New Year’s Day and it was a great start to the New Year. Food was delicious and the staff was great. My wife ordered a Chimi and they presentation was awesome. (See photo). If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll definitely return.

We were in Las Cruces for the night and looked for restaurants near our hotel to get take out. We had very high hopes for the food after the reviews and the exceptionally friendly service when we called in our order and picked it up. Unfortunately when we got back to our hotel, we found several errors with the order. Luckily the cheese quesadillas for our children were as expected and enjoyed. The problems were with our meals. We ordered one chicken chimichanga with refried beans and rice and one beef chimichanga with ‘whole beans with chorizo’ and rice. We got two beef chimichangas both with refried beans and rice. They were served with the three sauces on the side. One came with the tomato sauce, guacamole sauce, and sour cream. The other had no guacamole sauce but a container of mayonnaise instead. The description of the chimichanga said it was meat, cheese and peppers. Neither had any cheese and only about 6 or 7 pieces of green pepper. The meat tasted steamed/boiled and was very unpleasant. I couldn’t eat it and really wished I would have gotten the chicken that I ordered! Luckily I had the refried beans and rice with the extra chips and salsa I ordered for dinner. If you like the taste of the meat, you’d be happy because there was a huge quantity inside the tortilla. Sadly, we can’t recommend this restaurant based on the taste of the food and the errors. But the staff was so friendly!

Went to eat for the first time based on reviews, but food is awful. I ordered huevos rancheros . I got the green sauce from a can, not homemade. My husband ordered over easy eggs he got overcooked eggs. Over all everything was awful.

After noting that this restaurant was vegetarian and vegan friendly we decided to try it for lunch. The server did not understand what a vegetarian was, "is chicken stock okay". I ended up with an enchilada that tasted like they made it yesterday and some salted whole beans. I was disappointed. Service was friendly, timely, and the place was packed so I wouldn't hesitate to check it out if you are a meat eater.

My friends and I visited La Nueva Casita Cafe (in Las Cruces, New Mexico) on the evening of 26 Jan, 2023. The food was outstanding! We were there (in Las Cruces) on a business trip (from Colorado), and decided to see if we could find some good Mexican food. We were blown away by this family friendly mom and pop (Not a chain) restaurant serving authentic delicious food at a very reasonable price. We (five of us) ordered two appetizers: An enormous serving of nachos and some chile con queso. Combined with the complimentary chips and salsa, we had to be careful not to fill up on the appetizers (there was plenty). For an entree, I had the (steak/beef) Fajita Tacos, served with rice, borracho beans (cooked in/with beer, onion, garlic and cheese) and other fixings. The flour tortillas were great. They didn't stick together, were just the right thickness, and they were fresh (I hate it when restaurants serve you flaky, stale tortillas). The steak was a little overdone for my tastes, but it was a good cut of meat. It wasn't chewy or gristly. The borracho beans were excellent. I never had them before and noticed that they were unlike any refried beans I had ever had before. The flavor was awesome! I could have eaten a whole plate of the borracho beans. I like my food very spicy, so I had to kick it up a notch by adding some hot sauce on the taco fixings - I wish they had a house hot sauce, but they only had commercial offerings (Tabasco, Cholula, and Tapatio?). Something hotter or a house offering would have been better. The atmosphere (no alcohol is served) was sedate, quiet (even with couples with children/no loud music playing) and comfortable. The lighting wasn't harsh, and the temperature was perfect. The hostess was very helpful and friendly. Everyone enjoyed their meal, and I enjoyed the very reasonably priced sopapillas (freshly made and piping hot) to finish off my dining experience. I wish they would relocate to my neighborhood (in the Denver/Aurora area)- I would love to return and sample the rest of their menu.

This place is, hands down, the best New Mexican restaurant in the area. Servers are very warm and friendly. To those people giving out bad reviews because it's not "Mexican food"; this is NEW MEXICAN food and you should google that before sitting down and typing a bad review for this place. Their chimichangas bandera (three color because of the red and green chile) are very tasty. They often have daily specials that are very tasty and inexpensive. I would recommend going for the daily special if possible. Their taco estrella is quite flavorful, I would have never thought of having mixed pork and beef with a spicy sauce. Even their salsa is among the best I've ever had.

I liked this place the moment I walked in. It’s homey, and feels like a genuinely local loved place. It also smelled fantastic! Our server, Yogi “like the bear” was adorable and very nice. Great service. It was a little busy and locals were greeting each other from across the room. I had chicken flautas (Of which I’m a connoisseur). I was surprised by how well seasoned the chicken was! SO YUMMY. They were served with green, white and red sauces (guac, sour cream, tomato) a la the Mexican flag. I generally don’t care for beans, but the refried beans were great, again, really well seasoned. My hubby got the whole beans and calabacitas and loved them too. We will definitely be stopping here on future trips between AZ to TX.

When you see the firemen eating here and the locals eating here, you know it's good. We had the Juevos Rancheros and the Chili Relleno omelette for breakfast. Green chili sauce was just right. Homemade tortillas were great. Our waitress, Yogi, was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely we will be back when we are in town again.

I am vegan and my husband is not. We went for breakfast and the cafe was very accommodating even though they didn't have vegan options on the menu. They vegetable soft tacos were great. The chips and salsa are amazing, the servers are nice, the portions are generous. It gets really busy and it's easy to see why.

One of the most authentic Mexican food restaurants in Las Cruces, which is saying a lot considering how many of those there are. Everything is homemade and nothing is canned. The chile is hot, the salsa fresh and the dishes delicious. Favorites are the Tacos Estrellas, the Chimichanga Bandera and the Chicken Fajita Salad. Along with the traditional dishes, there is also a wide range of sandwiches, a kid’s menu and a wonderful breakfast menu, too. Want to try a real Mexican breakfast? The Huevos Mexicanos is simple, yet filling, with loads of spice. Mmmmmmmm…

We were fooled by the ratings. Enchilada plate, tasteless; shredded beef flautas dry, tasteless and hard as a rock , almost seemed like leftovers from fridge. Refried beans and beans, just flavorless. Dry crunchy rice. All of it was the most awful food of any kind we have ever eaten, and we have eaten everywhere in NM. Still can't figure why you would eat here.

We have this restaurant a second try having a below average experience in the past. We each ordered red enchiladas and they were like warm at best with the cheese inside not melted. The service was spotty. My daughter did not get any rice with her meal and despite us asking the waitress to bring her a side of rice she never served it. I asked for a side of menudo and never received it. They appeared to be short staffed. Will probably not return.

We went to this restaurant due to TripAdvisor’s high recommendation and were disappointed. We enjoy much better Mexican food closer to home. We had taco salad, Gordita plate, tacos estrellas, and ground beef tacos. None of them were anything extraordinary.
