Wonderful traditional Mexican food. A small, family owned restaurant it's still one of the best of Las Cruces. We had a large group, but called ahead for reservations and after a short wait, we were seated and served many individual orders in a reasonable timed.

We had many different orders and everything was excellent. We,were a party of eight. we had tacos, enchiladas, taco salad, combination plates, everything was delicious. The chips were warm and the salsa was hot. The empanadas were the best.

In the last two weeks, I've eaten at Nellie's and came away less than satisfied with the service and quality of the food. Considering that it is only open four days a week, Tuesday through Friday, a standard of excellence should be able to be maintained. On one occasion, one of the orders in our party was not what was... More

We were a party of 4. After 1 hour and 15 minute wait (when we should have left) the food arrived. 3 were very dissatisfied with their meal. Tacos had no taste. Huevos Rancheros were not good. Only green chile salsa was available. Red enchilada sauce was not good. Chip basket was not refilled. Avocado tostado was only good lunch... More

We were in town for the day and read all the glowing reviews, so we decided to stop for lunch. We arrived after 1:30PM and waited for half an hour outside before getting seated. The hostess who seated us was friendly. The southwestern decor adds a bit of ambience. The vibrant chatter tends to get a bit loud and may... More

My wife and I are locals and eat there most every week. Love the complimentary chips and salsa! Perhaps a little spicy for some softies but just right for us aficionados! Best Chile relenos in town. Everything is delicious and you'll never be sorrry you ate there! Great food, Great management, and Great service ---- What more can I say!

If you want a local's mexican food experience in Las Cruces Nellie's Cafe is a great choice. You can get chile served HOT here. Nothing fancy but always lot's of diners so be prepared to wait for a table. It is not a long, but there is usually a wait. Long time family owned and run. Service is prompt.

...at least that's what we were told. And we weren't disappointed! Family run, friendly service, generous portions, lots of locals eating here. We had a short wait to be seated but it was well worth it!

A bit off the main drag and nothing fancy We were unaware the Nellie's even existed until some friends recommended the place. Previously Nellie's was open for breakfast and lunch only, but they are now open till 7:00 p.m. for dinner also. Family run, always pleasant and always busy staff, usually packed but with a reasonably quick turnover. We eat... More

I went to Nellie's after reading reviews online by people who apparently think they serve the best Mexican food in Las Cruces. The menu looks promising but the food we ordered had little flavor. The gordita was just ground meat and no noticeable seasoning. The chile relleno burritos were the same. And the waitress completely messed up the orders. I... More
