I've visited this restaurant on an annual trip for the past five years, They have changed location once during that time. I have found the food and service to be consistently excellent over time... no decline in standards seen over five years. I highly recommend...the chef's choice sushi/sashimi plate; it has some variance, in that it can be tailored by the chef if you tend toward spicier offerings, etc. Be warned that If you add another roll in addition to that plate, you will likely need a takeout container if you are dining on your own. The chef's plate plus a couple of specialty rolls would be a good selection for a couple.More

I go here about once a month, and use their "app" for free appetizers and treats. Their miso soup is among the best anywhere, and I always order whatever the waitress says is "really good today". Never disappointed.

Aqua Reef is in a quiet business mall off the main drag on the east side of Las Cruces. But it is well worth finding. My wife and I have eaten there twice in the last week because it’s so good. Their seafood is flown...in twice a week and it tastes very fresh. We recommend the Aqua Reef Roll with Saku tuna and green chile and the Jalapeño Ponzu Yellow Tail served with very thin slices of jalapeño and lemon – the lemon slice and jalapeño are a fantastic combination with the tuna. Keeping with the local green chili theme, the New Mexico Pecan Green Chile Roll is pecan breaded stuffed green chile and sriracha sauce is very very good. We also tried the Bulgogi Beef Sliced Hot Rock which is raw NY steak marinated in Asian BBQ sauce served with a hot rock – yes a big hot rock – upon which you cook your meat to your own tastes. I’ve never see this before. I liked it a lot. Also excellent was the Rice Paper Salmon - pan seared salmon wrapped in rice paper with cilantro leaves and pesto was served with rice. We tried two soups, the Miso hot and spicy with shrimp and the traditional Miso both were very good. We tried the deep fried dim sum Bao. We can’t recommend the deep fried version. The filling was very good, but the deep fry changed the texture of the bun and it just wasn’t a good combination. Other than the deep fried Bao, everything we ate at Aqua Reef was very good to fantastic. We highly recommend it.More

We have dined at Aqua Reef since they opened, and never disappointed! My favorite, the salmon box, nice portions, good tasty food, always fast and friendly waitstaff.

We've been here for delicious sushi on a previous trip to Las Cruces a few years ago and returned with another couple recently. This time we all had diffetent asian seafood dishes. We shared a dim sum tower app that was all very good and...fun. Everyone was very happy with their main course. I had salmon and pesto wrapped in rice paper and sauteed/fried til crispy. It was a wonderful and unusual dish. Please, please open a restaurant in Santa Fe! !!More

Went to Aqua Reef again on Friday. Everything was just as good as our first visit, maybe better! Our neighbors found this place & we go with them whenever we all feel the urge to eat some really good sushi.

This was my wife and my 2nd visit and our friends 1st. Everything was outstanding. I know occasionally someone complains about price but believe me, for the quality you get here, the price is very very reasonable. Having traveled for business for most of my...adult life I've sampled Asian fare everywhere. This is as good as any and 1/3 to 1/2 less costly than many. That said, you would not expect to pay NYC or San Fran prices in Las Cruses. But take my word for it, this place is a true gem. Keep up the good work. By the way, we live in Santa Fe and come to Las Cruses at least once every winter. I know where we'll eat here from now on.More

Hi Shawn, thanks for reaching out with your question. To set any “local word” straight, for the record, that is not, nor has it ever been our approach or policy-(if it were, and if it were ethical or even legal, we’d likely... More
