What an amazing café and old general store. We now go out of our way to go here and eat. One of the lifelines to this little town. The other one is the Winery and taproom just two doors down. Wonderful atmosphere, delicious wine and...a relaxing fun area to sit and enjoy the end of your day.More

Had Lunch there this morning on a day trip from T or C. We would highly recommended their Hamburgers because the Beef is from New Mexico. Grilled Sandwich is awesome and my husband loved it. He knows his Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. We got 2 Muffins...and they are home made and they are to died for. We live in T or C and we will defiantly be back.More

We came across this on our way East from Silver City to Caballo (incidentally the drive across the mountains is awesome!). We were ready for some brunch and coffee and this little place came up trumps! Great cooking, interesting menu and friendly, efficient service.

If you want to step back to the 1800's then this cafe is a must. All kinds of memorabilia dating back to I believe 1860. Small only 10-14 tables, food is cooked as ordered.. so if you are in a hurry just order coffee, pie...specialty and ice cream... Between Silver City and Truth or Consequences.. Close at 3:00 pm & Thursdays.... A drive thru the Gila National Park is great....More

Thanks for the review. We are actually closed Wednesday and Thursday and it's even smaller than you remembered. There are only 7 tables. We look forward to seeing you again.

What a great little find. Drove up from Deming and stopped at the Lake Valley Historic Townsite, where Dan the BLM caretaker recommended this place. Great recommendation. We only had coffee and Bumbleberry pie w/ice cream but it was delicious.

The Hillsboro General Store is the perfect place to get breakfast or lunch. The best homemade food in the area. The nicest people to sit and talk to. There are no strangers in Hillsboro!

This little gem is worth the drive. I love the home cooked meal and hospitality. Whenever I’m in this part of NM I make it a point to stop and eat here!!

We've been here twice, which tells you something the food--fresh, home cooked, excellent. But we had the same waitress, who should consider a different line of work, something that makes her happy. Both times we had a long wait, but the food made it worth...it. Lunch and breakfast hosted fresh-cut fries and hash browns--a must in my book. The breakfast beans with an egg and green chile made me rush home to buy the ingredients to try to duplicate it, which I doubt I can. Hillsboro is a cool little town in the boonies of New Mexico, and would be a great place to live, or visit. The cafe/store is the only place available to eat. It's really good, but not fast food--plan on a wait and enjoy the atmosphere.More
