As Chef Irvine puts it: "I needs more seasoning". I had the prime rib, it was correctly prepared, but lacked in a nice, seasoned crust. The baked potato was prepped correctly, but not cut or split, which I expect. But why serve corn with potato? That is starch, with starch; there are other veggies in this world, even green ones.

This is a very nostalgic property that needs updating. The rooms are clean but small. There are really no amenities that a modern day traveler has come to expect. For example, be sure to pack a hairdryer. The lobby is pleasant and the food is good. The reason for the two star is that the area has become very questionable.... More

We originally asked for steak prepared rare; the kitchen will not prepare "rare" beef. The server said there had been too many complaints. So we ordered fajitas which were excellent and - at the recommendation of the server - we got just one order and shred it. Asked for extra tortillas. We had a couple glasses nice wine and enjoyed... A decades old point of interest for old visitors, cowboys and Route 66 travelers. Interesting memorabilia and photographs on the walls and in the lobby. The history of the place is well documented and worth dropping in for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The service was very good. Food was better than we expected and the prices were also acceptable. You... More

We can't comment on the main meal, but husband says this was the best breakfast he's had on or trip. Gammon style ham, with very fresh fried eggs and potatoes. I had Atole a blue corn semolina style dish, which is local and very nice. Coffee was good and service very attentive.

We had a lovely DINNER in a comfortable booth in the back room of the restaurant. Our waiter was JOSE who had waited on me several months ago. My wife had a margarita; and I had a lovely glass of Pinot Grigio to help us relax after driving I 40 from Albuquerque to Gallup NM., thru all the 12 WHEELERS... More

We stopped for lunch during a road trip. The Mexican food was average at best. The red sauce was provided on the side which was a good thing because the sauce was horrible. My granddaughter order the fish which was ok. The service was good. A stop a the gift shop was interesting. With the 50% off pricing the items... More

We were in Gallup on the night of the second Presidential debate and wanted to watch it while mingling with Americans. (We're Canadian). We had dinner in the bar and the meal was good for typical bar food. The service was great and the people friendly. We wandered around after dinner, and the place is quite magnificent in an out... On our way back through Gallup, we stopped to try out El Rancho restaurant. Lots of atmosphere in this historic hotel where lots of movie stars have stayed and dined. Service was a little slow, considering that there were only 3 tables occupied. Food was good. Hubby had a Humphry Bogart burger and I had a Katherine Hepburn BLT. Both... More
