Enjoyed a fine New Mexican dinner here with a local friend. Local restaurant, not a chain. Not fancy but busy. Filled with aroma of chilis cooking. On her recommendation we all tried the special Stuffed Sopapilla. Very tasty fillings and opted for the red chili sauce. Excellent. Service was good. Food well prepared and tasty. No alcohol. Great restaurant for... More

We chose this restaurant from the Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed. Everything was delicious and portions were plentiful. Only complaint was that chips and salsa are not included with take out meals even though they are included in restaurant.

Busy family owned place that knows how to treat its customers and slings the best New Mexican food I have found. Great for family dinners or work lunch. Quality is consistently high. I have never had a better red chile sauce. Perfect combination of flavors with a nice kick. The red chile cheese fries are so good they should be... More

I ordered a pint of Red Chile with meat to go, (pork), when we got home we emptied it into a bowl and found two quarter by quarter inch pieces pork, what a rip off, not to mention their outrages prices, never again will I go there. They can keep their pork.

Ate here during stop in Gallup after reading Trip Advisor reviews. Our experience was mixed. I had the special that night: NY strip steak, 2 cheese enchiladas, whole beans, rice, sopapilla and free drink. Dinner start with chips and salsa. Since we were first time visitors they gave us samples of their red and green sauces, both good with green... More

As someone who has lived in Gallup for three years coming from a different state, trust me when I say Genaro's serves the best New Mexican food I have ever had in NM. They serve food from the heart! I have tried a few different dishes, but their homemade tamales and enchiladas are my favorite. If you want to try... More

This recommendation from trip advisor was appreciated! Not on the main drag but easy to find. Staff friendly and efficient. Loved the tamales, full of shredded meat; husband enjoyed combo fajitas. The meats were perfectly grilled and tender. Green chili and salsa delicious. Only minus was complimentary sopapilla and honey. These were not greasy, but dough a little heavy.

We usually have favorites as we pass through Gallup but now this one is on the top of the list. After going to TripAdvisor for help and having a taste for chips and salsa Genaro's sounded like the spot to stop. Luckily we found one space to park and walked in a packed house, nothing personal but we were also... More

This is obviously a local favorite. It's off the beaten path located in a neighborhood. The prices were normal the staff friendly although very busy. Every seat was taken during a weekday lunch. The food was delicious although more spicy than expected (coming from a midwesterner who can handle jalapeño but no spicier). I got cheese enchiladas with red sauce... More

Service was attentive, local eatery, family run business , very casual, and the food was great . I had the blue corn tortillas with my enchiladas, which were light and tasty. The sopapias were also the best . We thought everything tasted delicious. If you want the taste of local cuisine vs chain restaurants, I would recommend this place!
