Got the Brisket Burrito, Onion Rings and Millionaire pie. Call ahead because can be slow during peak hours. The Brisket was amazing. But the onion rings hit it out of the park. The Millionaire pie, delicious as usual. If you're heading towards or back to...Taos head on up the road to eat the food. There are picnic tables next to the river at various river access points. But my favorite place to eat Sugar's is at the rest stop 16 miles ahead overlooking the entire Taos Mesa and river canyon.More

Got 2 ice cream cones which we both took two bites and literally threw away immediately. Only ice cream I've never eaten. For a place that has a sign that just says icecream, you should have more than vanilla softserve. Drove by this place a...bunch living up here. Always wanted to check it out. Ice cream tasted spoiled and like it had wet paper in it. Lady that handed us our icecream (during Corona virus) didnt wear gloves, or use a napkin to hand us our waffle cones. No facemask either. Her finger nails were long, and way dirtier than mine after camping and not showering for 3 days. F this place.More

We ordered two sugar burgers and an order of onion rings. The order was ready in just a few minutes. The onion rings were made with real onions, not minced. A real plus! We ordered the burgers medium rare but they came out well done...and a little on the dry side. The cook neglected to put mushrooms and green chili on both of our burgers so we sent them back. After the toppings were added, we dug in and enjoyed our first picnic lunch of the season! (There is no inside dining!)More

A peach vendor suggested this on the way to Angel Fire. Awesome good sized cheeseburger and curly fries, picnic tables under the shade of apple trees. Worth the stop!

Recently, the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper had a review of Sugars BBQ at 1799 NM 68, Embudo, New Mexico. We have passed Sugars many times on our drive to and from Santa Fe to Taos and back and always thought of stopping. Today, we...left Santa Fe and drove there just to go to the roadside stand. They are closed Monday thru Wednesday but one of their best dishes is only served Saturdays and Sundays, so this being Sunday, off we went. It's about a 40 minute drive but well worth the drive, not only to enjoy the scenery but the food. By the way, Sugars is named after the owners bulldog. My wife ordered the Sugar burger which was hamburger, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce and tomato, pickles, green Chile, and onions. You can also order a double Sugars which is double of everything. We had a side order of curly fries, a medium soft drink and their combination plate. This was three meats, sausage, rib and brisket all smothered in a very delicious BBQ sauce along with two sides. We had the potato salad and a delicious slaw. They also have beans or corn on the cob. The Dish also comes with a slice of Texas toasted bread. Your choice of seating is at one of 10 picnic tables, 8 under the trees or you can eat in your car as some did. Over all, the weather was perfect and the food was very good, especially the BBQ meats. This not a fast food restaurant so it took about 15-20 minutes to be called up to pick up our order. The only thing I didn’t like were the fries as they were a little under done but there was enough for four people. We had enough food that we actually brought some of the brisket and sausage home for later snacks. Yes, we would do it again.More

The "Sugar Burger" is among the best chili cheeseburgers in New Mexico. We have had tastier chili cheeseburgers BUT not at this price. The reasonably priced burger at Sugars is just so juicy and tasty that we wish Sugars was closer to home! It is...packed with cheese, onions, mushrooms, pickles, chopped green chilis, lettuce, tomato, sauce, and delicious burger. Can't wait to get back to try the ribs!More

Order and then find a picnic table under the trees. Food is average but the experience makes it a place you will find worth the stop.

Found this gem in 2016 while fishing the Rio Grande River between Taos and Santa Fe. In the super small town of Embudo, you can easily drive by and miss this place but trust me you'll want to turn around and go back. The Sugarburger...with mild green chilies and mushrooms is delicious. And their brisket plates are heavenly. This is my go to BBQ place when I visit Taos to fish each year.More

Had lunch here and ordered couple burgers. They were tasty and reasonable. We sat in the picnic tables provided and it was nice. No inside seating is available. Credit cards are taken.

Enough said❤😊 More than enough to eat. People talk about the onion rings but can't speak from experience
