Went by El Farolito for our second visit the other day, going quite a bit out of the way to stop by for lunch. Halfway through the beef enchilada with green chili, I knew it was worth it! Not fancy but very good green chili!

When you drive up out front and there are cars everywhere in spite of no parking lot, you have to know that the food must be to die for... and it is! OMG, there are no words for how delicious and authentic their food is!!! The best chips & salsa, beef tacos, and green chile enchiladas that we have ever... More

Completely an adventure getting to this 4 table restaurant while out near Abiquiu. It's known for the green chile but nobody makes a better red chile. It's not too spicy and it's almost like a masala. SOOO good! They don't take credit cards just FYI!

This is the real deal for New Mexican food. Came here on a family recommendation and it wasn't really on our way. Family owned and operated, Dad was cooking, son was serving. Menu offered only rolled enchiladas but there was no problem getting them flat with an egg. Sopapillas so hot you couldn't pick them up. Too bad we don't... More

Heard about this from someone at the farmers market. Boy was it a hole in the wall but well worth the drive! Homemade everything. Get the tamales and the chile rellano. Best I've ever eaten!

OMG! This is the smallest most unassuming hole in the wall we have ever driven 15 miles to eat at!!! But this is the REAL DEAL. Wonderful red sauce, redolent with deep tomato flavors. It's the same old stuff -- chili rellenos, enchiladas, tacos. But these are just richer in flavor. We loved the local customers who frequent this restaurant... More

Absolutely GREAT. I had a really good green chili cheeseburger and my wife had great Mexican food. We are staying in Abiquiu for the summer and will be back many times. I've heard that their chili rellano is the best ever-- I'll find out next time. This place is well worth the drive.

If I were being executed tomorrow, my last meal would include El Farolito's fresh tortilla chips & bright, zippy salsa followed by a couple cheese enchiladas smothered in their award-winning green chile & accompanied by their perfect-in-every-possible-way crispy beef tacos for my last meal. Yes, it's that good. The fresh & authentic food served here is simply as good as... More

We had a wonderful meal in this tiny little restaurant. Don't let the small size deter you from stopping. The food and service were excellent.

This tiny restaurant was recommended by our B&B host and he was not wrong. We had great Mexican food and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended. (Be careful not to pass it by, it is directly across from the closed general store).
