Drive-Thru for dinner on a rainy January night. Visited on suggestion from a couple of coworkers, despite the fact that I do NOT like "Fast Food." Sometimes, small chains are worth it. Tried the small "Deluxe Nacho Platter" with added jalapeños, sour cream, and guacamole. Additionally, I grabbed a Combo Burrito. Both were very reasonably priced, and even with the... More

This place is a Clovis institution. It may be a fast food joint but the varieties and taste of the food is excellent. Give it a try. The red and green sauces are tasty and spicy.

Consistently amazing. I've eaten at this establishment more than any other restaurant even though I only lived in Clovis for 18 years and I've been in the Dallas area for over 30 years. Exceptional customer service. Excellent quality food. Fair prices and always innovative and new special menu offerings. Thought I was having a flashback to the 70's when I... More

A local landmark. I love this place. Went their for lunch often in high school. Many people who have moved away immediately go to taco box when they are back in town.

If you like quick Mexican and Tex-mex, this is the place to stop. They have a huge variety of item on the menu and it tastes good too.

This is a must stop when visiting home. You won't want to miss out on the cheese sticks, and the combo burrito is my absolute favorite!!

Not sure exactly how to respond to this, If I read this correctly, you visited us in October of 2014 and wrote your review in July of 2105. Unfortunately, I did not see the review until November. You mentioned that your wife was feeling fine before eating here and was not well after eating with us. And although you did... More

Good fast food on a not so interesting street in the middle of Clovis. The hamburger was quite good -- nice inside dining room, but also a green park with benches across the four-lane heavy traffic street. Not quite a 4 but still much better than average. We were glad we stopped.

Thank weyl-59

Specialties Mexican food served quickly. Burritos, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas and our award winning Green Chile Cheeseburger. For an entire meal in a tortilla, we have the Big Box Burritos. We are the area's official hometown tacotorium, where great people have been serving the great people of the Clovis/Portales microplex since '69. History -Established in 1969. Taco Box International was founded by Bill Crombie in El Paso, Texas, in the mid 1960's. Company owned and franchised Taco Box locations were opened in California, Texas and New Mexico. In all about 15 units were opened between 1967 and 1970. In June of 1970, Tom Martin graduated from Cornell University and headed west. Ron Dudas, his partner, had negotiated a deal to purchase the Taco Box in Clovis, New Mexico, from Jim Story, who had opened the store in February of 1969. Tom began operating that location. Shortly thereafter, Tom and Ron amicably split the business, Tom took the Clovis store while Ron retained the Farmington operation. Ron has since sold the store in Farmington. For various reasons the parent company folded in 1971. Most of the original Taco Box units closed subsequently and now there remain only three, two from the original franchise (Clovis and Farmington), and one in Portales, New Mexico.
