Had or Anniversary dinner at the lodge. The main dining room is closed for renovation so we were seated in the lounge, “Rebecca’s”. The lounge is darkly paneled, coffered ceilings and had a woods featured wall paper in keeping with the location in the mountains. Service was excellent as befits such a location. As with many things in our post pandemic world, they have adjusted as best as the can and for example there were no barstools at the bar yet. My wife had a lovely Monty Christo sandwich and I had the soup of the day as an appetizer, a creamy chicken and sherry flavored delight. I had the Pistachio Encrusted Trout which was also fabulous. For desert we shared the Chocolate Mouse, which I can never resist. Our meal at the Lodge was as good as I had hoped it to be as we had never been. Recommended for sure.

The dining room is large and split into three large sections. The west dining room has beautiful stained-glass windows. The menu was limited because of the zombie apocalypse, but a variety of great food was available at every meal. The chili rellenos and salmon were particularly good. Our group ate all our meals there for two days and were never disappointed. One of the couples in our group are vegan (yeah, I know) and the staff were cheerfully accommodating and inventive in offering meals to meet their requirements.
Everyone we dealt with were friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Even while we were sitting outside a staff member brought water to us, and kept our glasses filled. Although every staff member was great, we were fortunate to have Renee wait on us for most of our meals. She was exceptional.

My wife and I enjoyed a weekend at the Lodge to escape West Texas heat. We ate dinner both nights at Rebecca's because we wanted more that Mexican, barbecue or diner fare. Dinners met with mixed results. Friday night both of us ordered the pistachio crusted trout. We were intrigued by the menu description, did not know what to expect, but completely enjoyed the dinner. The trout was a large filet accompanied by a tomato garnished with pesto. Lemon with a standing sprig of green onion completed the plate. It was the most colorful and beautifully plated entre I ever ate. Cheesecake completed our meal. I asked for decaf coffee, but it was not available. This was a great dinner, relaxing, unhurried in a beautiful, classy room.
Bar service offered an impressive selection of cocktails and wines. My chilton seemed a bit watered down. The bar was an antique bar moved to the Lodge from Chicago. Quite impressive!
Saturday breakfast was very good. French toast was great. Eggs with bacon offered standard breakfast fare.
Saturday dinner did not go as well. I was satisfied with my Caesar salad. My wife ordered the blue corn enchiladas. She could not eat the enchiladas which were deep fried and burned, covered in sauce. The waiter offered to bring her another entree, but she refused. Hence, the mixed review.
The lodge is completing renovations. Rebeccas had been a large, bright, open room but is being converted into three rooms, one being a gallery along the windows. It is nicely done in rich wood, but the rooms are dark.
Service was good, not great. This being Cloudcroft, you could tell that waitstaff were trained but lacked refinement.
Overall, our experiences were pleasant, but the chef's misstep with the blue corn enchiladas was a blemish on our dining experiences. We will eat at Rebecca's on our next trip.

We're still isolating due to the coronavirus, but wanted an upscale dinner for a special occasion. So, we ordered take-out at Rebecca's at the Lodge and got duck confit and salmon with all the fixings (including chocolate cake for dessert). All were very delicious... we were very impressed!

My husband and I went to Rebecca’s for lunch on Thursday. The hostess and waitress were very friendly and attentive. The Thursday Special was spaghetti and meatballs, so we both ordered the special. The spaghetti was an angel hair pasta with a light spaghetti sauce and so good. It was served with a side salad and thick, buttery French bread. Before we left, the waitress recommended that we go up to the tower to see the views of the White Sands. The front desk clerk gave us a key to go up to the tower and we got to read about Clark Gable and Judy Garland, who had both been patrons of The Lodge. The waitress also gave us a pamphlet about the history of Rebecca’s and The Lodge. We will definitely be back to enjoy the good food and friendly atmosphere.

We went on a Friday so we opted for their Friday Fish and Chips special with Hush Puppies. I love Hush Puppies. The fish seemed to be straight from the frozen package. The soggy fries weren’t much better. Every Fish Fry in Wisconsin is much much better. The Hush Puppies must have been deep fried by an amateur- they came out dark dark brown, almost burnt. They attempted to do better, but the next one came out dark brown - still a burnt taste. Like it was my fault.
Service was friendly but sporadic. Often we sat with an empty table.
On the fright side the atmosphere was great and we got to enjoy live piano music.

This was my wife and my first time and in Cloudcroft. The Lodge is a very fun, old hotel. We were there at five and seated quickly. Richard was our server and he did an outstanding job. Only issues with the service was they took our soup to the wrong table. A five-star service wouldn't have done that. They seemed a bit confused and weren't always sure who was supposed to wait on the table.
We both started with the soup of the day which was advertised as french onion. It was very good and the broth had great flavor. With that it was NOT french onion. There was no cheese in it. There were curtons and not bread on top. It was really an onion soup. It was good but not what I was expecting.
I had the salmon. The salmon did not look great when it was served. I thought it looked like ham. But oh the taste was outstanding. The boiled potatoes and cauliflower were good and cooked right but weren't five start. My wife had the pistachio crusted chicken fried steak. The potatoes and cauliflower were cooked the same but she had the gravy from the steak. The biggest issue was the steak was a little over cooked. It was very good but not 5 star.
We had a great meal and enjoyed the experience. There are plenty of good options even with a limited Covid menu.

The restaurant has an authentic, historic ambiance and we were seated at a nice table with a sunset view to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Our waiter was friendly and gracious and tried to compensate for the inefficiency of the kitchen staff. There was a party of 14 in the restaurant, and we were told our entrees would be delayed because of this. However, we had a 7 pm reservation and did not receive our food until approximately 8:50 pm. We had become “hangry” by then and expressed to our waiter that we expected to have our glasses of wine comped, but he told us he could only take off the appetizer. We still paid approximately $130 for our meal. The food itself was average at best. We were hoping for a special experience to celebrate our silver anniversary, and instead this was likely one of our top 5 worst dining experiences. We were very disappointed and won’t be returning. Of note, multiple other tables around us experienced similar delays. We overheard management dealing with another customer in a very derogatory manner.

I am sorry to hear about your experience at Rebecca's. While we are going through some growing pains this information is helpful to us as a training opportunity. I know this does not excuse your experience but I hope you will give us another chance in the future.

Wait service is very slow, drink order took 30 minutes. After waiting another 40 minutes, came the $46 steak was over cooked, flavorless shrimp and dry potatoes. Rebecca’s is not worth the time or money.

When I approached the entry of the restaurant there was a family there with no masks and a dog on a leash!! I asked the receptionist if they allowed dogs and she said she had not noticed it. Thankfully the family was escorted out. Then after being seated I ordered and beer and hamburger. The beer took about 10 minutes to arrive and this surprised me because the bar is in sight of the restaurant. Then I waited for my meal... and waited .. and waited. After 35 minutes the waitresses began serving guests who were seated after I was. This is a huge no-no for any restaurant, but especially one which brags about its service and food. So to me the service was very poor, and the food? Who knows? I did not see it and left without it.

We were so excited about having dinner while staying at The Lodge. I ordered pistachio crusted trout and my husband pecan crusted fried steak. The trout had no flavor and it was dry. It was served with plain white rice, again, with no flavor. The pecan crusted fried steak was just not very good. It had a strange flavor to it. My husband ordered the potatoes du jour and I ordered the vegetables du hour. Both were okay but nothing to brag about. I had a side dinner salad and it was good. We never received the bread that the other tables around us got. Our server was very nice and checked on us often. We are not picky eaters but it was just not very good. We were very disappointed . Our stay at The Lodge and our golf was wonderful. Sure wish the food was as great.

We had a reservation for 6:00. We were seated and our order taken by 6:15. Our waiter brought fresh rolls. We were each allotted 1. We were given enough butter to have 5 rolls each. Unfortunately, it was brick hard and we could not spread it on our rolls. Through all the long wait we were never offered rolls again. They were very good. A young woman walked among the tables asking diners how everything was. I never understood her purpose. She carried no water or rolls. She could have bussed tables. Our starter - a salad we shared - arrived at 6:45 and finished by 7. Our order of pork chops (over done) and Halibut (over done) arrived at 7:20. I ordered Floating Island for dessert. It was very good. It arrived at 8. At 8:15 we were given our check. The restaurant had 3 wait staff for about 20+ tables. They served all the food, wine alcohol and bussed their tables. Our waiter had 3 tables that I know of. The waiter had not been instructed in the art of waiting tables in an expensive restaurant. He apologized throughout the 2 hours about how long the food was taking to prepare. I suggest the owners hire someone to bus tables, pour water and hand out more rolls.

We stayed at The Lodge and ate dinner there two evenings. I'll start with the positive: the wait staff both evenings were attentive and very pleasant. I follow with the not-so-positive. The first late afternoon meal, my husband ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich that he remarked was very good. I ordered a Reuben sandwich. The pastrami was thick and very tough. So tough that I had to saw it with a knife. I was so distracted with the tough pastrami that I didn't realize until too late that the "Reuben" did not have any sauerkraut on it.
The second evening, my husband "splurged" by ordering the $50 dollar filet mignon, medium cooked. The filet he was served was dark brown through and through, "well done" to say the least. My husband said he could have lived with "well done", but he found the meat to be tough and full of inedible gristle. He said it was the worst steak he had ever eaten.

The manager comped our entire table bcz service AND food were TERRIBLE! My Monte Cristo was two pieces of limp toast with maybe a drop of melted cheese — not sure if that’s what it was — and some ham with what I guess tasted like defrosted frozen strawberries on the side. All 11 of us had terrible food — if it came at all — with a really slow server who took so long delivering to each of us. We all can remember the past when Rebecca’s at The Lodge was THE destination for a delightful dining experience. Not anymore!

Wife and I were very excited to try this historic place. The day before, we tried to make reservations for dinner several times, but no one ever answered the phone. So, we just showed up a little after 7:00 and told the gentleman at the front desk we were there to dine for dinner. He said that he would talk to the girl working there, and she would get back to us. That never happened.
After a while, we approached her, and she said that she had no idea what we were talking about. She said that they were short staffed and we would not be able to be seated or place an order for at least 45 minutes. The large dining room only had two tables with seated guests. Another couple was complaining that they were well past their reservation time and still hadn't been seated. We considered getting a drink at the bar, but there was no bartender present. I think the hostess also was the bartender and server.
We decided that the likelihood of us ever getting food was pretty slim and also worried about the quality if we ever did get served. Therefore, at that point, we went to a diner that was still open and at least were able to eat something. We also saw them turning away a number of very elderly guests. It was a Sunday night with very few other dining options and nothing within walking distance. I'm sure that they were lodging guests that probably ended up having to go to bed hungry. I understand that a lot of places are having staffing issues; however, there are solutions. Sad situation all around.
